Hussain Talat speaking at the end of the match:

"I am delighted"

"To all those people who have supported me in my rise, I want to thank them.

"I wanted to play my normal cricket, and have been thinking of this moment for the past two years"

"I worked hard during the two PCB camps for all-rounders and high-performers, and this domestic season I worked hard too."

"Main thing is confidence and the confidence I've gained from PSL has been a big help"

Hussain Talat at a presser after winning the Man of the Match award in his first match for Pakistan:

"Thanks to Allah. Very happy to do well in my first match"

"You can't call WI a weak team, many of the players went to NZ also and are T20 specialists. Can't call them weak but we played very well"

"We play with international players in PSL and if you play a whole season or 1-2 seasons then things become easier for you in international cricket"

"I went to bat according to the situation, again that's something that PSL has helped with as we play with and against international bowlers so we focus on reading the situation and playing accordingly"

"I think myself fortunate to be representing Pakistan when cricket is returning home, and I am very happy to be Man of the Match. I am pleased with the team's win, not worried so much about not reaching a fifty"

"I want to thank my family and all those people who have supported me from the beginning"

"My target is simple, just like in PSL and in domestic cricket, the aim is to help the team win matches"

"When I came to the ground, I had been told I will play today so I was very happy to receive the cap"

"I bowl quite regularly, I was best all-rounder in National T20 and have bowled in PSL also. I am continuing to work on my bowling as I did at the high performance camp and clubs, etc. as in the past"

"My plan is always to play according to the situation and to help the team win"

"I usually bat in the top order"

He has the same vibe around him like Hasan and Shadab. I hope he has a long career for Pakistan inshallah.

Should give up bowling as his main talent is batting.

He is more in the Watson category with the ball and bowls some good slower ones + bouncers. His bowling will be useful for him in the future with all these T20 leagues going on.

He can generate some decent pace as well so could be useful for Pak if he ever makes it to Test cricket. That would be freaking handy in Eng, Aus & SA.

Will be interesting to see where he bats in ODIs.

I can see the logic of him batting up in t20s because we have Asif Ali coming in, but in ODIs i feel sarfraz is better suited at 4, followed by Talat and Malik

Top 6 in ODIs:
Fakhar
Haris
Babar
Sarfraz*+
Talat
Shadab

He's right, and I'm sure it will prove useful. This WI side however isn't a full strength side, and I'm pretty sure a PSL side would have put up more resistance.

One of the most undeserving MoM to be honest - he also shoot Fakhar, otherwise the later was destined to hit a big one, may be even hundred and certain MoM. 41 of 37 in this rout is hardly praise worthy, when FZ scored 39 of 24 and Mian 37* of 14. In fact, Talat was the reason not to reach 220 .....

PSL indeed helps, but I'll wait to see for a few more games - even without PSL, these Internationals against this WI wold have been quite easy.

Talat got a bit unlucky tbh. Yorker after yorker at him.

Yes was also involved in two run outs. Has to show more awareness when running between the wickets.

Good for the guy, looked very nervous early on so hopefully he can express himself a bit more in the next game.

Haris has missed the bus, doesn;t possess fitness to play international cricket.

This is if Haris is fit. If not, replace him with Amin or Farhan. We really don't have many options. Sigh.

Do you rate him?

Brilliant player, favourite Pakistani player right now.

Will be the emerging cricketer of 2018, mark my words.

Good for the young man, but this WI side is really poor. I hope he does well though.

Too early to say, but young man has good bat swing & high back-lift. Today, I actually didn't see PAK batting for the EPL soccer game, but I have seen Talat in past, his inside out off side shots, particularly against spinners reminds Uvraj.

I think, there is enough potential and he is been spotted early, now it'll depend lot on Arthur (& Sarfraz) - how much they back him, but most important is how hungry & selfish (to protect own wicket) he is. I actually don't mind if my top 4 are a bit selfish & puts every coin on his own wicket. May be couple of years County or even minor county can help him develop further. He was sent at 3 in T20, which is a positive sign, hope he doesn't get the Misbah era treatment - that's batting at 7 & win from improbable position.

His immediate target should be to kick MoHa out of PAK ODI squad for good - next 2 ICC events are in UK & AUS and he can play exactly the same role MoHa did in Asia with his chucking. This is probably his biggest threat now - his path is cutting with MoHa; rest is in perfect order.

IMO the most exciting cricketer to debut for us in this decade after Shadab Khan. This guy is special.

He has potential but played so many dot balls. He should take care of that.

What is so speciall with him? His head is everywhere while going for big hits and in every innings of him he has some mishits in air, against half-decent fielding sides he will not survive.

But he should get a fair amount of chances to prove his worth and not be dropped if he has a bad game or two. Still think he is more suited for ODIs than T20s as in ODIs he can play more on ground and take lesser chances.

Technique is not even 30% of cricket. Look at Steve Smith, Sehwag, Gayle, Dhawan, Fakhar etc

This game of cricket is all about temperament, having skills and knowing your game.

Dhoni once said that its the temperament which matters at international stage rather than technique when asked about Dhawan performing in CT 2013.

Obviously you need a basic technique which he has got and now its upto him where he wants to reach by understanding his game and applying himself. Everybody was saying Fakhar doesnt have technique he is a hack and what not, he is a fine example of having temperament for international cricket and knowing his game and everything else falls into place automatically.

He is a special talent. I hope Mickey keeps him in the ODI/T20 set up till at the least next year.

If this guy succeeds then it will be game over for M. Hafeez.

Is he not allowed to improve? He’s got the fundamentals and great temperament.

You clearly didn’t read my last part...he can only improve if he is persisted with and not dropped if he fails in next match.

Yes lool I hope he performs so we don't see the cheater again. Yes you are right he does have potential and I hopes he works hard and keeps on improving.

Commentator just made this point in his commentary .Not sure if he reads PP or y'all think the same way.

I hope he doesn't take these matches as "international cricket" and set his standard according to it.

After playing mighty windies team he feels international games are easy. Wait till you play top teams like India, sa and England.
