Would be interesting to see where the majority of us are from. I joined not too long ago and it seems like a lot of us are from the UK.

If a mod could add a poll or something that would be good I am not sure how to do it

I have heard Malaysia and SE Asia in general stinks, especially the food. Is it true?

Have heard good things about Singapore though. It is supposed to be the cleanest place in the world.

I've never been to Europe so I can't make a reference point for it but I've lived in the US (the only country I've been to in the west) and I can safely say that Far east makes US look like a poor man's village. Anyone who's been to Korea, Japan, Malaysia (Especially Penang, Genting Highlands, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru etc etc) and Singapore will testify to such. The only places that I think are a bar below are Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

This is sadly quite true :(

Singapore Although very well developed and maintained is like the Saudi Arabia of the Far East - Too many restrictions (can't eat gum while I am hearing they might ban smoking as well) but on the whole it's extremely decent and much better than most places I've been.

The best part is the Universal Studios - Whenever there's a long holiday I make sure I go there to spend some quality time.

What's the reasoning behind this ban?:murali

Haha Listen to this Bro :ashwin

Back in 1992, Chewing gum was apparently banned because people were sticking chewed gums on transit door of the railway stations :)) - Since Singapore hardly has crime or any black market, the gum mafia was never to been seen but if you wanna have Gum you gotta cross over into Mexi..... I mean Malaysia to smuggle gum back through the border.

They are planning on building a wall apparently, illegal Gum is illegal Gum my brother :yk3

Anyhow, to answer the question in the OP, American by residence, Pakistani by the grace of God.

There are only two reasons people move to Madison: University of Wisconsin, and dairy farming. Or both, if one is so inclined.

I came to Madison because of my wife and also my Nanehaal is lives in chicago,IL about 1 and half hour drive

So you're neither a UW student nor a dairy farmer?! It must get very lonely there.

I'm just kidding of course. Madison is in so many ways the saving grace of the Godforsaken Midwest. I have a thing for liberal, bucolic college towns.

there's only one college town in the Midwest that is miles better than any other....Ann Arbor. Lets not forget UofM is also one of the best schools in the country.

That is because it goes without saying, the two things are so closely linked that it's basically a symbiotic relationship.

Wow so many people from outside Pakistan. In general from my time since joining this forum it seems like the majority of the people are from the UK. Seems most people here live outside of pak, not that i am criticising that by the way. I just thought there would be more Pakistanis.

Where abouts in pak are you from? And what was the experience like moving to the US?

I live in FB are and Gulshan-e-Kaneez Fatima, Studied at BJ public school, Buffer zone degree college and did my engineering from Sir Syed University. Moving to the US was quite a different experience for me because living in between those who you don't know nor their culture was a little difficult but I managed it.
