There is a lot of confusion. We had 4 years to prepare for this and just a few days from our opening WC 2019 game against WI and I cant tell which are the first choice bowlers.

One option is to pick 4 bowlers and use part time bowlers to fill the 5th bowler spot.

My choice will be:
Hasnain
Hasan
Wahab
Imad
Shadab

I dont see the point of playing an extra batsmen as that extra batsman might score a 25-30. With Shadab, Wahab and Hasan, the tail is decent and can contribute some runs. Hence we should pick 5 regular bowlers.

2 spinners are needed coz wi can't really play spin.
As for the fast bowlers, all are pretty much the same. Wahab would be my first choice though.

I see inshallah pakistan winning this game. Imad, shadab and hafeez will win this game for us. I believe in this team, we lost against afg due to poor batting and nothing else. Malik and hafeez must look to bat 50 overs if they get in.

Bowling line up,

Shaheen
Amir
Hasan Ali
Imad
Shabab

Wahab, my first choice
Then Hasan is a must and Imad also, Shadab is OK, will take him against Windies.
Now between Amir and Afridi, I would pick Amir, playing safe in very first match of the WC.

Shadab
Imad
Wahab
Hasan
Amir

Hasnain is not ready, and I'm Gladiator Fan #1.

Same here, and also bowl few overs of hafeez especially to their lefties and then whoever is going for more runs among other mainnbowlwrs we don't have to bowl all 10 from them.

Shaheen has fallen out of favour big time. He was lauded as the missing link in our bowling during the Australia series humiliation, now just 4 ODI's later he's out of the side!

Our 'attack' is nothing more than a musical chairs of mediocrity.

Amir though not getting wickets his bowling is tight and run rate is the best ofthe pacers. If hes able to get swing then will be dangerous, his pace was slightly off but that will come back. Hassan as he is a very clever bowler with great variations and wicket taking deliveries. Wahab if he gets his radar right as he is pacy and gets those yorkers in the right places. Two spinner Shadab and Imad will be effective and be able to take wickets and slowing down the Windies innings.

I would go with the 3 most experienced pacers we have at the moment along with Shadab and Imad.

Amir
Hassan
Wahab
Shadab
Imad

Unless Shaheen plays and gives an impactful performance against BD warm up, above mentioned in my opinion should start.

Amir/Shaheen
Hassan
Wahab
Shadab
Imad
Hafeez

bowling attack for WI game

Last chance for Shaheen. I honestly still rate him better than current version of Amir but if he doesnt deliver in Today's warm up Amir should play

I like him and he has great potential but Hasnain is not ready enough to play any game in the World cup.

He should warm the bench

I sincerely hope sarfaraz shall either open or come up the order to accommodation 5 regular bowlers
Fakhar
Babar
Imad
Sarfaraz
Haris
Hafeez
Asif ali
Shahdab
Wahab
Hassan
Amir

Imad and Shadab will obviously play. Hafeez will be our 3rd spinner for me it is more of a question between our pace attack. Wahab as now made a strong impression and showed he's probably the best death bowler we got, so it is between Hasan, Shaheen, and Amir for that 2nd and 3rd pacer spot. I feel Amir is very good at the death so he should also play, then depending on how the warm-up game goes today I'd chose between Hasan and Shaheen, for the 3rd pacer spot.

Looks like Shadab has a lot of fans here. He must take a page out of Rashid Khan's book if he wants to survive. Wasn't too convincing even before his health problems.

Oh yeah..I would go with these... blast them out with pace...

Pakistan really need to start using Imad from over 1, and Amir on the other side, both by bowling dots can create pressure to take wickets.. With 2 faster bowlers one is usually giving away plenty to take the pressure away..

My choice would be

Imam
Fakhar
Babaar
Harris
Sarfaraz
Asif
Hafeez
Shadab
Imad
Wahab
Amir / Hassan

Try to bowl 35 overs by spinners from Imad , shadab , Hafeez , malik , harris.

only two fast bowlers? you need at least 3.

I am still backing Shaheen. He has had a few rough games, but he can be our strike bowler with the new ball. I am playing him for the first few games atleast.

They must not drop shaheen afrer a couple of poor games ,thats not how you treat a youngster.
Wahab has bowled poorly throughout his career i dont why people back him to perform after a couple of overs of reverse swing again afgh.

My line up
Shaheen
Amir
Hasan
Imad
Shasab

In my humble opinion only one of imad or shadab should play.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Sarfraz
Hafeez
Malik/haris
Asif ali
Imad
Hasan
Wahab
Amir

This is pretty strong batting lineup and hafeez/malik or hafeez/haris can complete 10 overs.

Makes an already weak bowling more weak though.

Hafeez is a very good bowling option and can even complete his 10 overs. Shadab can replace imad on spin friendly conditions.

Might be feasible against Asian sides but against non Asian sides bowling should be spin heavy

Also batting is not a major issue right now so don’t see need to play an extra batsman

Shaheen's poor showing has caused real panic because he was the one bowler who looked to have all the tools. Good with the new ball and decent at the death when on form. But you could easily just get the crap version where his line is all over the place and that can be a disaster.

I don't trust Wahab's spray gun nor do I have any faith in Shadab. Shaheen has been Pakistan's best bowler since he was brought into the side. As long as he is still able to bowl 140+, I would keep faith in him.

Amir
Shaheen
Hasan Ali
Imad
Hafeez (with Malik or Haris to share last set of 10 overs)

I honestly don't know which five to pick from that list, because they are all equally likely to bowl badly. Pakistan doesn't have one bowler on tour who is bowling well at the moment, with the possible exception of Wahab, who himself has a patchy record. Toss a coin for all I care, not sure it will make much difference.

We have depth.
It's about planning for the entire tournament not just one game.

Historically, WI struggle against spin. Not sure if this is still the case- and the wickets are quite flat so far. I don't watch enough cricket since the last CT win in 2017 to say.

But I think: Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan are musts.
You can probably get some overs from Hafeez and Malik as well.
That's a good 30 overs there, maybe more if WI struggle against spin.
Then 2 fast bowlers. I'd try out Wahab and Amir. I think we will need them if we want wickets. We might as well try them right away, to see what kind of form they are in.

Wahab
Amir
Wasim
Shadab
Hafeez
Malik

Lineup:

Imam
Zaman
Babar
Hafeez
Asif Ali
Malik
Safraz
Imad
Wahab
Shadab
Amir

You need to go with two spinners against Windies so Shady and Immi will get the nod.

Amir, Hassan and Wahab most likely for the faster men. Shaheen will play when one of the senior bowlers have a poor game, either against Windies or England.

They could opt for Shaheen in the first game as Wahab has just arrived and the coach might want to avoid criticism by chucking him straight in. Would be a lot easier to introduce him if Shaheen has a stinker first game up. Not exactly decisive stuff but from the current camp would not surprise me.

They could possibly if they strategise and give Shaheen a clear role. But its fair to say that the management would be far too obsessed and impressed with Wahab's yorkers in the warmup and won't be dropping him.

Hasan
Amir
Shaheen
Imad
Shadab

Windies struggle against spin and with Hafeez also, this should be enough. Shaheen is just going through a rough patch- he is a potential match winner.

Please do not play shaheen!
My choice is:
Amir
Wahab
Hasan ali
Imad
Shadab
Hafeez
And a few overs from malik

Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali. All okay batsmen as well which could be important. Imad and Shadab as spinners, think WI may struggle against them. And I'd play Malik + Hafeez too as they could pose problems to the left handers.

I agree!

Imad and shadab for sure given the west indies struggle with spin. Aamir, hasan and wahab for the extra pace. Please no brainless bowlers like shaheen and hasnain. Didnt knw if i would ever say this but given our recent terrific performance i would chose shinwari over shaheen

Shinwari, Abbas, Hamza, Nawaz, Rumman.😉😉😉. Bet you they would do no worse than what we have!!!

Amir, Wahab, Hasan, Shadab, Hafeez/Malik/Imad. Can not have five specialist bowlers as it would mean losing a batsman. Shadab can be a mystery spinner for the West Indies.

Shinwari should have been selected in my opinion. But i would not play him against england, australia or india, as he just as likely get carted all over the park. But against the lower teams, as he has a habit of taking a bunch of wickets. Your other named bowlers would get destroyed against all comers, in my opinion.

Amir and imad to open
Hassan and shadab as 1st and 2nd changes
Wahab to start from 25-30th over

Hafeez can bowl 3-5 overs between 20-35

Shadab can bowl coupl in the last 10 with hassan to bowl the other 3
Wahab to bowl 4-5 in last 10

Bowling hafeez 3-5 will give pakistan the ease of rotating the bowlers

In short we will be going with 5 anf half bowlers

Please let hasan ali bowl with the new ball. Hes the ony one who can move the ball and take early wickets, which we have been failing to do.
1st 10 overs hasan and amir
11 -35 overs imad, shadab, hafeez and a couple overs from malik.
36-50 overs wahab, hasan and amir.

Against the West Indies, I think we have a couple of dilemmas:

1. Spinners - can Hafeez / Malik give us 10 overs, especially with their left handers and this allow us to take Imad out. I think this is a risk, in case Hafeez / Malik haven't finished their overs and Russell is at the crease.
2. Fast bowlers - Amir is a new ball bowler, but Hassan and Wahab do not like new ball (they prefer once the shine comes off) - so if you play Amir, Hassan and Wahab can we open the bowling with Hafeez (if Gayle is in) and Imad (if right handers)?
