Who takes the cake ??

Serious question, Journalism on both sides is pretty crappy , Indian media news is filled with Bollywood crap and exaggerated facts about Pakistan, and Pakistani media has been on a roll recently with Ayan Ali ,Rehman Khan etc. etc. scandals .

Thoughts?

It is a question of press independance.Indian media have been afflicted with scandals like paid media , political interference and other mess but they have honest people too.Pakistani media might have good journalists like Hamid Mir but overall they are worse because they can't write against their army.So they are like Chinese press which is in a straight jacket.

I agree with kutty.

Actually, I don't know what he typed. I just wanted to say his second name.

Both are the worst, can't single out one. No professionalism, masala type news/masala tpe style of presenting news.

If you want to enjoy professional Hindi/Urdu news, refer to BBC.

They're both pretty bad, one solely focuses on what Pakistan does 24/7 and the other focuses on supposed conspiracies against them by the rest of the world.

One thing for sure that indian media is obsessed with Pakistan, we hardly see indian news on our local channels.

Think both try to outdo each other on who is worse. Just shows that when you provide freedom of press and media before teaching them professionalism, this is what happens

Indian media seems to be opposed with Pakistan related news mostly negative. Sometimes they'll report negative news that is so minor that even local channels in pakistan haven't bothered picking up, but expect a 5000 word front page article on NDTV website etc.

We in pakistan couldn't give two hoots what happens in india domestically

Private media is rubbish in both countries.

PTV is OK and Doordarshan was OK in the 90s from what i remember but i have not watched it for a long time so i do know about their current situation.

Pakistani media is bad but Indians are a lot worse. Sensationalize almost everything.

Indian media because the quantity of sad journalism is high , like every channel with crappy news but we have got some good ones with The Hindu who have great writing sense but are biased towards communism,Deccan Herald is pretty good publisher,Fountain Ink magazine probably the best piece of journalism from India.Dawn from Pak is really admirable and Geo and Tribune.pk terrible and biased.

Not true to be honest i see a lot of articles first appear in Dawn or Tribune before they appear in Indian channels.

news channels don't show that much on Pakistan either, its the websites which get carried away same in Geo,Tribune as well.

Obviously the Pakistani media which is rabidly jingoistic and is another weapon of the Pakistani state against India, while most of Indian media is self critical and wants good relations with Pakistan.

You got to be kidding me.

"Wants good relations with Pakistan"? :))) :))) :)))

Indian media is the worst ever!

Never really watched Indian media, but I agree. As a critic of Salman Rushdie's books once said when asked if he'd even read the satanic verses, "I don't need to walk through a sewer to know what filth is".

I think most Indians I have met don't take their own media seriously while Pakistans on the other hand do.

There was an article in the BBC recently about Indian media: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-44280188

And what's noted in the article has been quite obvious for the last several years. Virtually all Indian media appears to be highly pro-Modi, and they will go out of their way to self-censor anything not pro-Modi. People will remember what happened to the article in the Indian media about Kulbashan Yadav being an Indian spy. The literally was literally erased from the entire Indian media. There was another similar case that had to do with the fake surgical strikes.

There is very little diversity of opinion in the Indian media. Modi appears to have been joisted to a messiah level and not much is being done about it.

Pakistani media, meantime, will find criticism of all the small ills in Pakistan. While it is extremely negative about the country, at least it is open, which can't be said about Indian media.

Silly thread, Indian media is actually very decent. Indian media has diversity, many languages, regions. They have many with regional focus, nationally and some international news.

Of course, there is sensationalism, but that's like plenty of Indian TV serials. There is a bit of everything for everybody to watch.

Its like tossing a coin to see which one is worse.

Have you ever heard Arnab conducting interview?

If a guest is criticizing India and does not have similar view as him then you won't see any Auntie louder than him in any media.

138 and 139 is the rank of these two countries in press freedom worldwide.

Take your pick.

I can understand Pakistan being at 139 with it being a quasi military state ( allegedly) but why is India so low on press freedom?

Pakistani Media - Because they don't know where to stop, especially when talking about India. You can always expect someone from the panel to say something inappropriate about Hindus, each and every discussion about India always ends up bashing Hindus. Just watch any show of Zaid Hamid (Laal toope) and you will come to know what I am talking about. Even a Pakistani bowler ( I guess it was Tanvir) said something very bad about Hindus on live television. And its very common there, no one (including the anchor) stops them. There is no backlash or something.
Indian media never does that, when they talk about Pakistan they talk about Pakistan. If anyone even by mistake insults Islam, expect a strong backlash, he will be asked to apologize.

English and Hindi media in India are extremely pathetic (a few are good no doubt but lack significant viewership) but regional media is more independent and way less bigoted. Tamil news media asks tough questions, sometimes extremely uncomfortable ones. Judging Indian media based on English/Hindi media is misleading because a large chunk of India depends on regional news channels.

Guess Who’s Leading the TV News Race in South India?

It's the other way around. Many in the media today are whining why everybody else don't hate Modi as much as them. And they wrongly call it as Modified Indian media, whereas in it's just the bias has gone down. Before 2014, it was one way traffic with 24 hours anti-Modi, today, you have sensible news where both sides are presented. It's up to the viewers to decide whom they agree with.

he doesnt come on the mainstream shows..I have ahrdly seen a show in which India has been discussed in the last 18 months..its been mostly mujhe kyon nikala..the Indian media are horrible..the way they talk and sensationalise everything is terrible..

Pak media is better. Although we speak a lot of nonsense as well we are not half obsessed with India as their media is with Pak.

Why do these Indian anchors speak with this loud panicky voice and try to sensationalize everything ?

It is about being number 1 in ratings. There news channels are always fighting each other over being number one. In India nothing sells more then Pak news.

To create drama. Not to mention the visual graphics behind and beneath them too help their stories. Times Now always has Breaking News turned on and the anchor there keeps shouting. He tries too hard to imitate Arnab.

Lol there is always a debate going on with 4-5 experts who hardly get time to speak because the anchor is busy shouting.

I saw a show where the guest said something the anchor didn't like so the anchor started yelling at him to 'condemn' Pakistan :danish

For no reason :danish

It's raining heavily here in Delhi. So I navigated to one of the channel here and I saw their heading of a special program on rain in Delhi. Title was 'Dilli gayi paani mein'. :inti

Summarized the level of ethics in this region pretty much - less thinking, more talking, no guilt or remorse.

I can't provide any great insight here, but you are absolutely right. Indians don't have army influencing media and yet they are ranked same as Pakistan. It simply means that Indians are doing the worst job here.

This is quoted even in regional language news sites as well...

LOL some chanells are run by bjp like times now, Republic.

Most of the news media house in India linked with Congress from long time..Republic any way part owned by BJP MP.

Times group simply shifts allegiances to ruling party..

NDTV/Wire Etc are totally anti-BJP

Indian media is master at giving the fake news especially from Occupied Kashmir. When I watch their news from kashmir I literally want to smash the TV. They can go to any extent to defend the brutality of Indian army over us. And when anyone tells them truth about Kashmir they label him terrorist and demand sedition charges. They are so bad that I have blocked some chanells.

They will obviously have high representation on a thread which is discussing the worst of the media :genius

But why bother? I rarely watch any of these news channels.Reading in Internet is far better and easier to brain and eyes as well.

As i posted yesterday India have 100k news papers and 400+ News channels. You guys comparing all you have with few from us :))

Man, what do you want me to do on a thread which is discussing the bad side of the media? Post positive things?

I'll post more negative things from the Pakistani media too, when I come across them. Our media is mostly rubbish too, though I don't think we have many who can compare with the likes of Arnab :))

Arnab is best, only journalist/Anchor/Celebrity all politicians get afraid. Even Subbu swamy (another dear friend of Pakistan) doesn't go to his channel.

Dr Swamy had ripped this loudmouth apart. If he doesn't go anymore, it must be due to contempt for the (lack of) intelligence of this pseudo patriot, not out of any fear.

Winning? Has already won by a long stretch. It is impossible for Pakistan to get close to Indian media.

India you are winning again, winning so much you would get tired of winning, tremendous winner #MIGA
