Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman are my choices!

Pakistan can be confident only with Azhar Ali. Proven performer, with decent technique and a model test batsman grit.

@mods - we should have a poll on this.

Haris and Babar are the only two batsmen with a good technique to survive and score in English conditions.

If the ball is swinging as it does in May, a 50 is as good as a 100 in other conditions.

Babar Azam is my pick

Still has a lot to learn in this format but let’s see he’s not going to be facing his ultimaite weakness of spin so who knows he might do well. Plus i remeber about 2 years ago in NZ he scored an amazing 90 not out when everyone was getting out. So I expect him to do better than he has in UAE and WI but lets wait and see.

ohh the thread is about batsmen not just 1 batsman.

After Haris,
Azhar, Sami, Babar, Usman and Saad are all good players of fast bowling. Better than the batsmen in past squads.

Only Azhar will return with an acceptable record. Less said about babar the better.

Azhar did well last time and I expect him to do well this time as well. I have no clue how the others will do.

Have high hopes from Fakhar Zaman - his success could change things for Pakistan in the future.

I guess Azhar and Asad would be the better than others but not so convincing . Fakhar also has a chance to succeed if he is given opportunity .

Babar has to do well if he doesn't avg 35+ in this series he should be dropped

Azhar
Sohail
Sarf
Aslam

Shafiq will probably get one hundred, then disappoint for the rest of the series.

Will depend on who gets the chance to shine more and at what position. Azhar stands the best chance.

The players who will click the most are Fakhar Zaman and Sarfraz Ahmed (provided he bats aggressively), because of their aggression, as the conditions will be suited to bowling more, hence attacking batsmen will succeed more. Batsmen will find it difficult to score, then why not attack, rather than doing tuk tuk and giving away wickets cheaply.

Other than these two, I will go with Haris and Salahuddin, as both have good FC stats.

Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq need to step up. Especially the latter, now YK and Misbah are gone he needs to up his game.

I m counting on haris sohail. Have no hopes from other batsmen. Stroke less wonder azhar will disappoint many here.

oh gosh... Haris Sohail and Azhar Ali both out cheaply.

Who's going to be the top scorer of Pakistan against England in the upcoming test series?

Having a feeling that it's going to between Imam and Asad.
But I would not rule out Fakhar Zaman, if he gets a chance to play.

:salute

Imam is a very strong contender for this - just seems very comfortable in his role.

4 of the listed batsmen may not even play a single Test.

Hard to decide based on that, or maybe half of them could play 1 Test each.

Out the 3-4 innings we'll play, I think Azhar, Imam, Asad are more likely to do score at least a single fifty and maybe a hundred.

Based on the warmups and Ireland Test, there's a few half centuries in the side at least.

I'd be stunned if there's the batsmen collectively score 3 hundreds across four innings.

Doubt Usman, Fakhar or Saad will play. Wouldn't be fair to them to just be thrown in without proper practice.

30% of votes for Fakhar Zaman if he plays he would probably do well, but the question is will he even get a game?

Azhar, Imam, asad & haris. Also hoping usman does good although it would be very hard for him.

Thats the best possible combo considering all things, Batting till 10, 3 fast bowlers one fast medium all rounder, one spin all rounder, 2 left arm 2 right arm pacers, plus 3 good part timers, mean 8 possible bowling option, which mean variety and depth, this team have it both, plus great left right combo in batting with 6 righties and 5 lefties, once upon a time we had one or 2 lefties at most that too bowlers, Asad and Azhar both have been bang average thus for in this tour but Azhar recent performances have earned him a longer rope, Asad can still be in the squad but don't deserve to be in the XI, and before most of you jump in and say both Azhar or imam are too defensive but tell me with a straight face who have more chances to survive clouderson and Barbie in early summer under cloudy skies, these two with solid defense or fakhar? And it's coming from big fakhar fan, his attacking prowess should be used in middle order out of Asia, and if our openers can score even 50 without no loss till lunch they would have done their job of saving middle order from new cherry, and this middle order is dynamic enough to score at over 3.5 and all of them potentially can bat at 50 plus career strike rate. So they can make up for slow start. I would love Imam to come good, I haven't seen that much of him but I liked the look of him from what I saw. Seems level headed and focused.

This is a good combo but selectors will not drop Shafiq.

Hopefully all of them do good, I wonder if Zaman and Salahuddin will get a chance, I don't see how they fit into the line-up though.

Think the middle order ones are ones with the best chance - dont see 1,2,3 scoring anything big

What about "extras"? Hopefully England bowl no-balls and wides, every run helps.

The poll is looking good and the voting is looking pretty accurate at the moment.

Stage was set for Babar to announce himself in test cricket. You perform in Lords and dunya gun gati hai. Abhi Abbas Abbas ho rha hai, Babar Babar bhi hota.

We just want him to do it as soon as possible but the fact is we are fans and he will do it eventually as he is good enough In Sha Allah.

Hopefully, for Pakistan, Usman Salahuddin will score a lot of runs in this test.

Haris Sohail had the most votes and he's finished as highest scorer for Pakistan
