Imran Tahir:

Has been ranked No.1 in Odi's and T20's, main spin bowler for his team in the Loi's format and main wicket-taking threat.

Moeen Ali:

Frontline spinner in tests and adds vital runs down the order. The Lord's Test against South Africa was a prime example of his importance.

Adil Rashid:

Highest wicket-taker for England in Odi's since the 2015 World Cup, his wrist-spin is vital in a format where finger-spin is losing its effectiveness on flat pitches.

Usman Khawaja:

A treat to watch when in form and in full flow. Mostly a HTB who isn't guaranteed a spot in the Australian team but would be in the Pakistan team for sure and one of our most important batsmen.

Sikandar Raza:

In my opinion the most vital to his team. His bowling comes in extremely handy as seen in the final decisive Odi against Sri Lanka where he rattled the top order. His batting is also crucial to the team as seen by his late order match-winning runs against Sri Lanka in the series decider. Also played a vital knock against Sri Lanka in the one-off test.

Imran Tahir given the fact that he's an attacking legspinner with a lot of X-factor in him too. On his day he can rip apart most batting lineups.

This is not about the best player but the player most vital to his team. Imran Tahir is a much better leg-spinner than Adil Rashid but Rashid might be more vital to his team considering England have a very mediocre attack while Tahir has considerably better bowlers at the other end.

For me, it's a close call between Sikandar Raza and Moeen Ali at the moment. Both are important for their respective teams across formats.

I'd say Moeen Ali he's by far England's best option for his role across all formats which you couldn't say for Tahir.

Moeen and Raza.

Of course I can't comment much for Zimbabwe but England need Moeen. Amazing all-rounder who most often plays a vital knock when England need him the most.

LOL Usman Khawaja clearly the best here. Class above the rest.

The question is 'who is the most vital to his team'... Khawaja is hardly irreplaceable.

In terms of who is the best cricketer out of the lot, Tahir is the only one who is highly ranked.

But the question in OP is different to 'who is the best'.

Tahir and Reza. I would even go as far as saying Reza in the first slot cause he plays for a weaker team thus his inclusion brings in a bowler and a batsmen for them. He is vital in both department for ZIM where as SA can do without Tahir's bowling (they have players and skills to fill up that hole).

TOugh one between moeen and tahir. i picked moeen because he is a lower order batsmen and plus bowls off spin

sikander would easily be replaced if zimbabwe had better options

But they don't, the thread is about the most vital player for their respective teams in the current scenario not about who the best player is.

and being vital is important and good enough which sikander clearly isn't

If better options were available sikander would be dropped.

The thread isn't about ifs. If England had a better off-spin all-rounder, they wouldn't need Moeen but that doesn't matter. The point is whoever is the most important to their team currently and I think both Moeen and Sikandar have vital roles to play for their teams across formats.

I was thinking why Reza didn't play for pakistan ? he was born in sialkot could have played for his country than making dimes in Zimbabwe but who knows what's his story.

vital would only mean that a player is good enough doesn't need to get replaced as they provide something which others cant.

Moeen Does that with his lower order batting and good bowling. Imran Tahir bowling alone.

SIkander Raza is a mediocre batsmen even for Zimbabwe

we have had our share or Sikander Razas. Imran Farhat, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal. They weren't no different.

A player like Umar Akmal would easily walk into a minnow side, because he would be the next best thing for those team.

Same way Sikander Raza

read his cricinfo profile for his story

As you wish. I reiterate what I said earlier.

Hard decision between Raza and Ali...but i think Raza is probably slightly more important to Zimbabwe - has looked a quality player for them recently.

PakPassion.net : Why did you leave Pakistan and chose to play for Zimbabwe?

Sikandar Raza : This question gets asked a lot of times so let me make this as clear as possible for everyone. I never played any serious cricket during my stay in Pakistan and cricket was the last thing on my mind at that point in my life. I wanted to concentrate on my studies and in fact, I wanted to be a fighter pilot! So any stories or suggestions that the PCB did something wrong to me or neglected me or I became disillusioned with Pakistan or its cricket is simply untrue. There is nothing owed by the PCB nor do I owe anything to PCB in that regard. I did not play any club cricket in Pakistan and I had no aspirations to play for Pakistan at all. I resent these stories made up by some people for reasons best known to themselves. The truth is that my family migrated to Zimbabwe and that’s how I arrived in the country and with the Almighty’s help, have found a place in the Zimbabwe team.

I rate him better than the batsman you mentioned, hes 31 so it doesn't matter now! umar akmal is a different story, i doubt he could cement his place in Papua New Guinea's cricket team

Umar AKmal could easily walk into the sri lankan team.

Its always about what you have got the best.
Boyd Rankin is agood example. Not good enough for England but good enough for Ireland.

Sikander Isn't consistent.

Fair enough but as for the "hardly irreplaceable" comment - comon man name me a aussie player who plays pace better than him. Steve Smith is overall best but Khawaja has proven he can play pace, bounce, seam and swing along with the moving pink ball in the air and off the greentop wickets v SA last autumn.

I haven't watched him bat an awful lot. I've heard that he's good against lateral movement and has scored on some green-ish tracks in Shield Cricket so perhaps he is one of the best they have against pace.

However, his struggles in Asia mean he is barely selectable there, plus he isn't really a key part of the LOI formats.

Good player but not that vital to Australia overall, I reckon.

I agree poor against spin and not been good enough in LOI.

Pakistan with all its spin bullies in the batting line up would do anything to have a batsman like him.
