Now that Hafeez is part of the squad, its worth asking if he displaced another deserving player. So is his selection right?

His selection is perfect - he can bowl now as well.
We already have five bowlers who can bowl full quota in the team. And Malik to the mix. He might be preferred over Malik but not the other five. Hence I don't think his bowling is needed.
Really we needed a reliable opener instead. One pure performance reasons, probably Kamran would have deserved to be selected. Otherwise maybe Manzoor but more for his ODI place rather than t20.
Farhan I would have thought most posters would suggest, but he seems a little raw atm, though Zimbabwe might have been the perfect place to test him out more.
Talat being dropped from the ODI squad is the bigger concern. I don't understand either as Asif Ali's in the ODI squad too.
I would have taken Hussain Talat in place of Hafeez as he's younger and capable batsman. He's got a bright future under Mickey unfortunately he might stay with the team against Zim unless Babar passes fit. Hussain would be a solid played to have in the World Cup.
Hussain Talat is in the T20I squad...
I know. But he's not in the ODI team and I would take him over Hafeez. If Babar isn't fit then it would be easier to bring in Hussain Talat into the ODI team then having to call up someone from Pakistan.
Yes I agree that Hussain Talat should have been in ODI's. This thread is regarding T20Is though, who do you think should have been picked over Hafeez? Or was it the right decision to pick him?

Ul Haq needs cover/evidence before selecting him for the Test squad, come September (actually in laying XI - he'll start). Since Babar is injured and most likely not playing, there is a gap at the all important No. 3 spot against the swing, pace and bounce of ZIM attack - MoHa fits the bill perfectly, for his class, eligence, experience and 78/89 stats in ZIM. He needs just one big 2 digit innings against the might of ZIM - he'll be back in Test XI. Also, this is ZIM, hence MoHa won't need "extra effort" while bowling - that keeps his bowling stake intact for UAE Test series.
I am writing again - Sarfraz must pull-up socks & improve individual performance, otherwise, he might not be going to Toss in WC for PAK.
