So one in the bag for Pakistan but was that just a "fluke", or did they actually do their homework right? Can we expect this momentum to continue into the second ODI?

South Africa . With all due credits, I think Pakistan got the most ideal conditions to start off the odi leg. And on top of that, they were helped immensely by a rather scratchy debutant and a senior guy craving for an odi hundred after a long time. I don't think all these factors would repeat again.

Pak should strengthen their bowling.

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Hafeez
Malik (Won't be dropped as he's a SENIOR)
Sarfraz + *
Imad (Need to play 2 spinners against SA)
Shadab
Hassan
Amir (Faheem out)
Shaheen (Shinwari out)

I second this, SA wont make the same mistake twice if the opportunity arises they would for sure look to get to that 300 mark on the other hand Pakistan put in a decent batting performance yesterday, you could argue that they had to take almost no risk at all due to the low req runrate and somehow they still almost managed to almost mess it up but what i saw from imam yesterday was quite impressive has to be his best innings as of yet and has to be the only occasion that he has scored against a good team babar was classy as allways, If fakhar and Imam can stay in there for atleast 20 overs than we might stand a chance I have almost no confidence in our Kaptan the top order has got to fire and the bowling unit needs to strike
Its a miracle that we managed to win the last game if i were to be in the sa dugout i would be pulling my hair out seeing them go by run rate of 5 in the last 10

Expecting a failure from Hafeez as he has done his job for the series. Safaraz and Malik both looking like deer in headlights. Unless the top 3 can get going again i think a score of 150-180 is due in the next game vs fired up SA.

The second ODI is in Durban conditions will be very similar to PE. Pakistan got the ball to grip and turn, Hasan got it reversing a bit as well. SA were bowling gun barrel straight, even Tahir didn't get drift. I'd back Pakistan tbh, especially in the middle overs where they can grind runs to a halt with spinners.

(If QdK plays and gets going then it'd be 50/50)

Yes but Pakistan made the win look harder than it should have been. We are yet to see a Pakistan bowling masterclass in this series.

If Shaheen Shah Afridi & Shan Masood plays then Pakistan will be stronger but without them I reckon South Africa will win the 2nd match.

If hafeez bats like the way he bat yesterday pak will win easily and it will transform the teams chances alarmingly high to be a force to reckon for the CWC even. Because no.4 is as crucial as the top 3.

South Africa will come hard at us. Not sure if Pak ready for that!

No need to be complacent, pak tends to relax after a win. I feel Miller will be key as he looked good for few balls he faced. I would sit Shinwari and bring Shaheen.

Hafeez been a surprise package for last 6-8 months, he needs to bat without fear...only if he had batted like this before, our ranking must have improved.

Pakistan, will win this match, although we will need to be at the top of our game, and get 2-0 up so we can win the series comfortably.

I expect Pakistan to continue to put their foot on the throat.

2-0

Yes this is what I said aswell but I doubt the managment will change a winning combo. Hope I’m wrong as we will need to pick up wickets next game with SA likely to come hard from the get go.

Well you said yesterday in post #10 you expect Pakistan to win so presumably we are ready for it.

It's very hard to predict results on a match by match basis when it comes to bilateral series but I'll be brave anyway for the fun of this forum :). My prediction is that Pakistan will win as this pitch will suit Pakistan more and history is with Pakistan at this ground. Hopefully 2-0 coming up

Pakistan should win and it could be the defining moment in this series as SA would have a mountain to climb to win then

Might have nailed it if it wasn't for Hasan giving out a phainty.
