WTC format is a bit of a joke. Teams should play same number of games and play everyone ideally.
Should become a tiered system - top 5 teams and bottom 5-7 teams. Relegation and promotion system.

Third time they didn’t make it.. seems like they are just happy hosting it.

Well. Last year the weather cost England a definite Ashes victory, when the Old Trafford test was rained off when England were all set to win, as well as the unnecessary capitulation in Pakistan in the second and third tests.

Hopefully next cycle of WTC, England will be at their best, now that were well in to Post Broad and Anderson Era.

Australia has bright chances to qualify for the final

Standings after Australia claims an epic win over India in the thrilling 4th Test

If Ind win last match but Aus win 1-0 vs SL game over for Ind but if SL win 2-0 SL can play final but that won't happen.Aus and Ind can go to final with Aus already putting their one foot in the final

Time for Travis to win another cup for Australia.

This time it's even worse because Indians have to now watch him from the sidelines 🤣🤣.

India’s chances of qualifying for the WTC final are still alive, but they remain slim

To secure a place in the final, India must win the Sydney Test to level the Border-Gavaskar series, and then hope that Australia fails to win any of their upcoming matches in Sri Lanka next month.

The loss at the MCG has made the SCG Test a do-or-die situation for India if they are to keep their World Test Championship dreams intact. Even if they win in Sydney, India will need Australia to slip up during their tour of Sri Lanka, ideally with the hosts winning the series 1-0 or 2-0. If both Tests in Sri Lanka end in draws, Australia will seal their spot in the final. Even with a victory at the SCG, India's maximum winning percentage could reach only 55.26%, leaving their fate dependent on other results.

India is very lucky that the Tests it forfeits each cycle against Pakistan are wrongly not counted as defeats.

If Pakistan was rightfully allocated those points, victory at Centurion yesterday would have lifted Pakistan above India in the table.

In football, Pakistan would be awarded two 3-0 victories for the matches that India refuses to play.

Yet such is the power of the BCCI that India can forfeit matches without any consequences at all.

Weirdest way I've seen someone begging for free tournament points citing a non-existent forfeit lmao.

No we have already seen it in 2023

India is much stronger now with Bumrah, Pant, Jaiswal etc who didn't play in the 2023 final. But Australia will still start as favourites though.

Moot point anyways as Ind-Aus final is virtually impossible now.

So the finalists are here.

Australia vs South Africa at Lords's

What a sight this is going to be. Australia to win again

World Test Championship 2025 Finalists confirmed

South Africa's opponents locked in for World Test Championship mace honours at Lord's in June.

Australia will have the chance to defend their World Test Championship crown, claiming victory over India in the fifth and final Border-Gavaskar Test to secure their place in the Final at Lord's in June.

Pat Cummins' team will face Temba Bavuma's South Africa on the hallowed turf from June 11, with the Proteas closing out their Final qualification run with a tense two-wicket win in their Boxing Day Test against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka, who host Australia in a two-Test series in Galle from late January, cannot overtake either team.

Australia booked their tickets on day three of the New Year's Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, chasing a fourth innings target of 162 with six wickets in hand.

Usman Khawaja (41) was the backbone of the Australian effort on a tricky surface, with Travis Head and Beau Webster playing their part in the closeout.

The win moved Australia to 63.73% of possible points, denying India (50.00% of possible points) of the spot in their last Test match of the cycle.

Sri Lanka's chances of reaching the WTC 2025 Final hinge on defeating Australia 2-0 in the upcoming series at Galle Stadium. If they achieve this, Sri Lanka’s points percentage will rise to 53.85, but Australia will still remain ahead at 57.02. However, Sri Lanka’s hopes lie in Australia receiving an eight-point penalty for maintaining a slow over rate. This penalty, combined with a 2-0 series win for Sri Lanka, could see them surpass Australia and qualify for the final.

It is a blessing in disguise for India to not qualify for the final.

Getting rinsed in three consecutive WTC Finals would have been embarrassing.

But but sir it is not fair that England always hosts the final. Please give us a chance to host one in Wankhede so that we can win too. :sree

We can finally enjoy a final without India and their annoying fans.

Australia missed out the first final due to penalty.
