My best innings in order of merit in a losing cause against lethal pace attacks.

1.Mohinder Amarnath's 80 and 91 at Barbados in 1983.

2.Tony Greig's 110 in 1974-75 at Brisbane

3.Asif Iqbal's 135 at Kingston in 1977

4.Ian Chappell's 156 at Perth v West Indies in 1975-76

5.Sunil Gavaskar's 90 at Ahmedabad in 1983 v West Indies

6.Anshuman Gaekwad's 81 at Kingston in 1975-76.

7.Alan Border's 126 at Adelaide v West Indies in 1981-82.

Amarnath displayed combative spirit and technical skill at it's greats height when hooking and driving the best pace attack of all time when the chips were down . Facing Lillee and Thomson at their fastest Greig was revelation like a soldier fighting a war on alien territory. When every Englsih batsmen meekly surrendered Greig traversed regions of courage and skill few batsmen ever traversed.Asif Iqbal gave a classical exhibition of strokeplay on fast pitch.Ian Chappell was courage and skill personified scoring half his team's runs.Gavaskar revealed the skill of a surgeon on a broken Ahmedabad pitch batting in cavalier style.Anshuman Gaekwad was the ultimate epitome of courage and determination when countering the Calypso bouncer barrage at Kingston .Border simply reminded one of a boulder defying a gale.
