Who are the favourites for the ICC World T20 Cup?

The 4 semi finalists are likely to be Australia England South Africa and India.

Pakistan would have a chance but the success rate is 10-20% in high scoring matches against the top teams the top order of Babar Rizwan and Fakhar need to make telling contributions.

India not able to dominate an Australian side sans Warner, Hazlewood and Zampa. NZ getting blasted into oblivion.

OZ, ENG, SA, PAK semifinalists? :inti

Our bowling is full of medium pacers. I don't know why Siraj is not playing.

If Harshal is part of the playing XI, then its all over for India.

Indian batting only scoring 186 on this pitch is a concern. Rohit played a terrible innings. Pandya too used up 1 over and got out.

From the looks of it, if you have to beat England or Australia, you need 200+ minimum.

During Asia Cup, some fans were saying the exact opposite of that lol. They said India was missing the death bowling of Harshal Patel. :inti

Sunil Gavaskar Names His Two Finalists For T20 World Cup Former
India captain Sunil Gavaskar has named India and Australia as his two finalists and former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody also chose these two teams as his finalists.

The T20 World Cup is well and truly underway and the ongoing qualifiers have seen Namibia upsetting Sri Lanka and Scotland getting the better of West Indies. The Super 12 stage will get started on Saturday with Australia squaring off against New Zealand. Team India will begin their campaign on October 23 against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The preparation of Rohit Sharma and co has started on a good note, as the side defeated defending champions Australia in a warm-up game on Monday.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has named India and Australia as his two finalists and former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody also chose these two teams as his finalists.

"India, definitely. And because I am in Australia so I am going to say Australia," Gavaskar said on Star Sports before the warm-up match between India and Australia on Monday.

Talking about the same, Moody said: "I am going to give you the top four. Australia, England will go through from their group. I think Pakistan and India would be leading the other group. The finalists, I have to say Australia and India."

Team India defeated Australia by 6 runs on Monday in a warm-up fixture after Mohammed Shami defended 10 in the final. India managed to take four wickets in the final, out of which three were taken by Shami, while the other one was a run-out.

Virat Kohli was brilliant in the field as he took a sensational catch at long-on to dismiss Pat Cummins, and before that he registered a remarkable direct hit to catch Tim David short of his crease.

India will next play New Zealand in their second and last warm-up match on Wednesday at the Gabba, Brisbane.

Harshal has done well on two paced wickets but struggles elsewhere. He doesn't have much to offer apart from the change in pace and slow stuffs.

India is clear favourites here and they are the most prepared team as well. They played the most no. Of t20is in 2022 and they won a lot as well.

Indian batsmen are very very good on these kinds of pitches and they will score big everytime and their trundler attack will be able to defend big scores.

Indian fans should demand world cup from their team.

Pakistan and England will be finalists, not India and Australia :inti

World Cup t20

Sunday Nov 13 2022

Final India Vs England chasing team will lose

Player of the tournament

Jos buttler or Suryakumar Yadav :)

Bouncy pitches + Long boundaries
Pakistan batsmen can't play short balls, they will eliminate in group stage.

You never know what could happen if Rizwan and Babar bat well and we see strong performances from Shaheen and Rauf.

But the odds are definitely stacked against them. RizBar can't save Pakistan in every match and once they are out the game is gone.

This thread is funny,

Pakistan fans want India to be favourites so that they could troll Indian fans when the team eventually flops.

Indian fans do not want India to be favourites because team is sh!!t.

LOL man going by the facts here. India is generally very good in these conditions and they are very familiar with these conditions as well. They sure have toured a lot here in recent years.
Even they prepared for this world cup by far more than any other country.

India played 32 t20is in 2022 and won 23 of them.Other teams haven't even played 20 t20is in 2022.

If i were Indian i would expect them to stream roll other teams.

Pakistani batting is very mediocre they can't play short ball at all. Only one player is decent at playing short ball that's babar Azam.

Pakistani bowling does struggle a lot in Australia.

Pakistan will be eliminated from the group stage.I m sure about that

320 players have been tried out in those matches. Looks more like a team searching for answers. By reverting back to the same squad, it seems they did not get any ans

But but but Iftikhar was hitting boundaries 3 years ago and Asif Ali hits sixes for fun.

India are favorites to win this World Cup let alone winning against Pakistan. Whenever there is any comparison being made between India and Pakistan in SENA, Indian fans gives first preference to performances in Australia and how they have upper hand over Pakistan in all the formats so what happens in threads like these? Pakistani fans are genuinely saying Indian team is better and favorites due to these reasons. Our fans on the other hand are trolling them by calling them favorites instead. Look at Pakistan's middle order for example. :inti

You yourself said that the only reason India beat Australia in the recent T20i series in India is because Australia didn't play full strength .

Now if India can't beat full strength Australia at home, them how are India favourites to win a World Cup in Australia?

How can people still say India are the favourite after seeing their bowling trundlers 😆😅 I don't even want to call them bowling "Attack" lol

There's no match up between the Both bowling unit on the fast Australian pitch!

Bhuvi < Shaheen
Arshdeep < Rauf
Harshal < Naseem
Axar < Nawaz
Chahal < Shadab

India are not favourites because of their bowling. Pakistan's batting is way better than India's bowling. They have got the number 1 and 3 batsmen in their ranks. So if India is a favourite, Pakistan is even more so. I personally dont believe either of them are.

INDIA is going toin the finals at least. All the talk about "bowling" makes me laugh. The bowling is serviceable enough to restrict teams to 170-180. In fact, I expect India's so-called "poor" bowling to be one of the more effective ones in the group stages as far as stats are concerned.

People were saying the same before the 2019 wc also. India bowled out every single team except one game in the 2019 WC. It was the batting that resulted in India's exit.
In Aus IND batting is supreme.

EDIT
correction reg 2019 stat. The bowling out record was in some other tournament. But my statement stands.
India in the finals and AUS to be champions.

England they have horses for courses all bases covered all round team plethora of talent can bat first and pile runs and chase target in a sniff its just like a top football team they can play with various formations and still end up winning:haaland

India definitely better than Pakistan don't ride on that Asia Cup win remember it was 1-1
Pakistan Middle order is minnow level fielding school level and coaches amateur level

Aus / Eng ; their batting is deep and explosive.

India have matchwinners with bat who can singlehandedly change the course of the game within few deliveries.

----

Pak will struggle a lot due to brittle batters.

Anyways, if it is not Pakistan; then I hope WI/BD/SL or NZ win it!

BD has the same chance of winning this T20 cup as italy has of winning 2022 FIFA world cup

Obviously you have not seen India's fielding lately.

Yeah because Australia is the only team playing in this world cup? As I clearly said in that post SENA means only Australia to some of you. :rabada2 :inti

With rain being a dominant factor in all games and causing shortened games, teams lacking quality batsmen who can hit have an even lower chance now, and teams that have them have a stronger chance.

England + Australia are even more firm as favorites now.

Followed by India + SAF

NZ and Pak tied at 5th best

WI and SL not in the picture.

Dark horses?

NASSER: For me, it's South Africa. The big question for them is what to do with captain Temba Bavuma as he has been injured and out of form. They have Rilee Rossouw, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller and Aiden Markram with the bat, seamers like Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje should enjoy the conditions, and then there is the wrist spin of Tabraiz Shamsi. Keshav Maharaj is a very good cricketer, too, plus they always field well. They are definite dark horses.

ATHERS: I always say South Africa and they always disappoint but I feel they have dangerous batters, including the returning Rossouw, and that their pace bowlers should thrive. I think South Africa offer the best value outside the top three of England, India and Australia. You would be foolish to write New Zealand off but I think they may lack a little bit of firepower and I had a sense when they were last in England that perhaps one or two of the big-name players who have held that team together for so long are maybe not quite at their peak now.

EOIN: It's a full house for South Africa. They have every base covered - experience, firepower, a spin aspect that is world class. I think the biggest challenge for them is getting around that notorious hoodoo of not fulfilling their potential at World Cups. They just need to get their heads around that as they have the ability to beat the best sides in the world, they have proven that. They just need to believe in themselves. If they do that, they have a huge chance.

On these big grounds with bouncy wickets, it will be Australia or England

Pak have zero chance

At this point, England and Pakistan have got to be the outright favourites. SA would have had a great chance had they dropped Bavuma and got Stubbs and maybe even Mulder(for Pretorius) in.

But unfortunately, quotas won't allow that.

So ENG v PAK it is.

Shows how much South Africa choked again. Incredible.

From here, i'd defo say Pak is top fav. Has the bowling fire power. the batting is peaking at the right time. What eng did against india will not happen every day. Good luck!
