Who assassinated Benazir Bhutto?
Updated at: 2321 PST, Monday, December 22, 2008

Who assassinated Benazir Bhutto? ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was attacked from three sides on 27th December in Rawalpindi, one of the assassin seen in the videos fired on BB from the left side but her cause of death was a wound on the right side of her head.

Her vehicle was supposed to turn left towards Gawalmandi from Liaquat Bagh but police blocked the road from the left side and her vehicle was forced to turn right after the public meeting and she was attacked immediately after taking right turn.

These facts were revealed in a special investigative episode of ‘Capital Talk’ on Geo News Monday night. Investigation was conducted by Hamid Mir who interviewed all those who were present with Benazir Bhutto in her vehicle at the time of attack.

Hamid Mir also interviewed some key witnesses who were injured by bullets and bomb explosion around BB’s vehicle on December 27, 2007. Benazir Bhutto also wrote an email to an American journalist Wolf Blitzer on October 26, 2007 before her assassination that if she is killed then Musharaf would be held responsible.

Benazir was also aware of the dangers threatening her life as interior ministry had already informed her about such life threats on 12th December 2007. But inspite of all these life threats she continued her election campaign and proclaimed on 26th December, 2007 addressing a public gathering in Peshawar that life should be spent like lions not like jackals.

The trajectory of investigation was based on 12 questions emanating from BB’s killing such as; 1)Why did Benazir come out of the sun roof? 2)Why was there no sufficient security on her return from Liaquat Bagh? 3)Why was her car turned right when it had to go left? 4)Was her death caused by the lever of car or by bullet? 5)Was firing and blast done by one person? 6)Did more than one person fire on BB’s procession? 7)Why was BB’s autopsy not done ? 8)Who ordered to wash the crime scene immediately? 9)Which direction was she fired from left or right? 10)Are the accused arrested in her murder’s case her original killers? 11)What did the government reply her to the letter she wrote to General (R) Musharaf naming three persons responsible for her murder? 12)Why was her last email to Wolf Blitzer not made basis of her murder’s investigation?

Answering the first question as to who asked BB to stand out of sun roof Naheed Khan, BB’s political secretary and Amin Fahim Chairman PPPP who both were with BB in car said that not any one of them had asked BB to do so. ‘No one asked her to stand, she wanted to wave at the crowd as she was very happy that day that’s why she came out of the sun roof’, told Amin Fahim.

While talking about the security that day BB’s Protocol Officer Aslam Chaudhry who was also injured on 27th December revealed that the police had left the place quite earlier. An eye witness Nazir Butt mentioned about the weird attitude of the Police that day. ‘A boy was wandering in the area holding the pistol, but police simply ignored it.’ he said.

Senator Babar Awan and Amin Fahim also talked about BB’s concern that she expressed on stage for the security about building and tress adjoining Liaquat Bagh.

Ibn-e-Rizvi, the organizer of Liaquat Bagh Procession expressed his astonishment on the change of the route. “BB had to go from left as the route decided by the administration but her car was turned right, I don’t know who ordered the change of route?” wondered Ibn-e-Rizvi. Aslam Chaudhry while talking about the change of route said that the police had blocked the left side which was the decided route on her return from Liaquat Bagh that’s why BB’s vehicle took the right turn.

The eye witnesses gave the opposite view of the cause of BB’s death to the one given by the ministry of interior when the then spokesman Brig (R) Javed Iqbal Cheema said that the lever of BB’s car was the cause of her death. An eye witness Mohammad Akhtar Saeed revealed that first he was fired then BB and he also saw the person who fired.

Raja Riaz and Tariq Saeed, both of whom lost their limbs in 27th December’s tragedy claimed that the blast and firing were carried out by different persons which clarified that the man who fired and caused the blast was not one person but two.

It was also known that the firing was not from one side but from the buildings and plazas surrounding Liaquat Bagh as claimed by Gul Bahadur Khan another eye witness while Ibn-e-Rizvi pointed to a water tank on Liaquat Bagh’s roof where he claimed firing was coming from and targeted BB.

Lt.Gen. (R) Hamid Nawaz, former caretaker minister for interior, told that BB’s husband Asif Zardari asked not to carry out autopsy and he also refuted the claims of eye witnesses about the lack of security that day while giving the details about the security arrangements that day.

‘1300 police infantry was deployed, pass through gates were installed at the entrance, bullet proof rostrum was placed and the police cordoned off the area two days prior to procession,’’ told Hamid Nawaz. While Dr. Mussadiq Khan’s statement on the issue of BB’s autopsy differed with the Hamid Nawaz’s when the former said that the autopsy is done on the request of police.

About washing the crime scene within few hours of murder Dr. Abdul Rehman who was the Emergency officer of Rescue 1122, Rawalpindi on 27 December stated it was washed on the orders of SP Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad. When Khurram Shahzad was approached for his response to Dr. Abdul Rehman’s statement, he declined to do so and so did Former CPO Rawalpindi Saud Aziz.

Senator Safdar Abbasi while talking about the wound said that BB had a wound on the right side not on the left. ‘It may be a bullet of a silencer gun and BB had already fallen before the blast,’ said Safdar Abbasi. Dr. Mussadiq Khan also told in a press conference that BB had a wound on the right side.

About the arrested ones that they are the real killers of BB, Shah Zeb Khan, lawyer of the accused Rasheed Ahmed said that there are no allegations on Rasheed for BB’s murder as he had only met a person named Bilal claimed to be involved for committing suicide attack on BB.

Naseer Tanoli who is lawyer of Atizaz Shah another accused in BB’s case revealed that Aitzaz’s statement is made the basis of this case who was 19 years old during investigation and it is on his statement that Rafaqat and Husnain the other two accused arrested in BB’s case. But during the case proceedings Aitzaz submitted the application for juvenile trial. ‘Aitzaz Shah is minor and his application for juvenile trial is already accepted,’ said Naseer Tanoli.

While Ibn-e-Rizvi emphatically refuted to see any one of the accused on 27th December.

In reply to the letter that BB wrote to Musharaf on Oct 16th, the joint secretary of interior Mohammad Anwar Khan on November 6 nullified BB’s concern that she expressed about three public holders .Hamid Mir contacted the persons who were named in BB’s letter but only one of them agreed to speak while Chaudhry Pervez Elahi who is also one of the persons named in BB’s letter refused to speak. Lt. Gen. (R) Hameed Gul responded to BB’s letter by claiming that he served legal notice to BB after hearing this and presented himself for investigating even . “Why is Musharaf not being interrogated whom BB mentioned in her last email to Mark Siegel?” he asked.

Wolf Blitzer also invited in his program BB’s long time friend Mark Siegel after BB’s assassination and read out that email he received from BB which stated that Musharaf would be held responsible if she is killed.

BB had also ended the dialogue with Musharaf as she said in a press conference in Lahore on 16th November 2007 that Musharaf had promised her democracy but imposed Martial law so there by she saw no point to pursue dialogue with a person who says one thing and does the opposite.

Furthermore, BB had also differences with Musharaf over the issue of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry’s restoration.

President Asif Ali Zardari also mentioned about 25 letters that BB’s security advisor Rehman Malik wrote to the government of time about BB’s security. On October 27th Rehman Malik wrote to Secretary Interior Kamal Shah about an attack on BB as informed to him by a friendly country. PPPP Secretary General Raja Pervez Ashraf also wrote a letter on November 22 to secretary interior asking for provision of appropriate security to Benazir. A letter written on 12th by interior ministry to Rehman Malik revealed astounding information telling him about an expected attack on BB. Keeping in mind the security threats to BB, interior ministry on 15th December assured in a letter that there would be adequate security arrangements for BB.

Rehman Malik’s words were not inserted as he refused to speak on camera when contacted by Hamid Mir. President Zardari also confirmed former DG ISI meeting with BB on late night of 26th December a day before her assassination which he said was not about security but about the political scenario of the country specifically in relation to the upcoming elections. While Naheed Khan was unaware of any such meeting between former DG ISI and BB.

The host of the program Hamid Mir revealed in the end that it is not possible to complete investigation without asking questions to General (R) Musharaf but it is learnt that the present government has given assurance to the head of a friendly country that no action against Musharaf will be taken and that is why the new government is depending upon UN to complete investigation of BB’s assassination.

Here is what Wolf Blitzer has to say about this.

Yeh abhi tak doondh rahay hain? They will milk it next year too

My vote goes for Zardari..i mean look at him before BB's death and now..it like a rat able to leave its cage...and he's smiling more and more nowadays, even when asked very tough questions..

and he is the single most person to gain from her death.. (NRO, BB's wealth and Swiss accounts and Surrey Mansion, etc)

ISI’s top secret letter unfolds new dimension of BB murder case

Should put to rest many conspiracy theories.

ISLAMABAD: Exactly four years after the brutal assassination of Benazir Bhutto, a letter of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), country’s top intelligence outfit, has revealed that the extremists groups related to al Qaeda have had their plan to assassinate Benazir Bhutto six days earlier then 27th of December 2007 the day when Miss Bhutto was assassinated, copy of the letter available to Dawn.com disclosed this here on Monday.

The five lines short letter with the subject of , “ al Qaeda Threat,” is addressed to Kamal Shah, the then Secretary of Interior Ministry by Brigadier Abdul Basit Rana.

The letter reads as, “It has reliably been reported that a few extremist groups related to al Qaeda have made some plan to assassinate Mrs.Benzir Bhutto and her adviser Mr Rehman Malik on 21 December 2007.The exact plan of execution not known.”

The letter is delivered to the Secretary Interior on December 10th, 2007, almost seventeen days before the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

The copy of the letter shows that Kamal Shah immediately wrote a short note on the letter saying, “this is a threat with specific date, we should sensitize them,” Kamal Shah has further directed Brigadier (retired) Javed Iqbal Cheema, the then Director General of Ministry’s National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) directing him to speak.

The third note which is not readable properly mentions as, “I have informed MrMalik by fax,’ by some Joint Secretary or Brigadier (retired) Javed Iqbal Cheema.

In this letter the specific Intelligence was provided by Brigadier Abdul Basit Rana of ISI, who according to this correspondent is yet not appeared before any investigation committee including the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Joint Investigation Team (JIT) headed by a grade 20 police officer Khalid Qureshi and the UN Commission on Benazir Bhutto.

“Since this was a top secret information provided by the agency and agencies do not give the access to the origin of the information so neither Brigadier Abdul Basit Rana was interviewed by UN Commission nor by anyone else,” confirmed Ch Azhar advocate, the prosecutor of the Benazir Bhutto murder case in Rawalpindi’s Anti Terrorist Court.

It has already come on the public record that the then Security Adviser of Benazir Bhutto, Mr Rehman Malik soon after receiving the “threat information” from Brigadier (retired) Javed Iqbal Cheema, had written a three page detailed letter to Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah on 12th December 2007. In the said letter he had requested for enhancement of Benazir Bhutto’s security.

An expert, while speaking on the condition of anonymity, say that the examination of Brigadier Abdul Basit Rana and further analysis of the information provided by him can further unfold the missing links of on going investigation of Benazir Bhutto murder case.

What a usless party PPP is. 4 years in goverment & they cant find out who killed their leader. How can any ordinary Pakistani be assured of his/her justice? Oh wait I forgot, Zulfikar aur benazir zinda hai, is all it takes for PPP idiots to go vote for PPP come next election!

Who has benefited the most from BB's death? AAZ. That is the answer.

BB came to Pakistan after making deal with international forces that she will work with Musharaf. Upon return to Pakistan, she saw Musharaf has lost all the credibility and making a deal with him would be a political suicide, so she backed down from her initial deal. She was also intoxicated from the response which she received from people.

She made the right political choice by not accepting the deal with Musharaf, which she signed initially but bad choice for her life, because once you signed the deal with mafia, there is no back turn.

Zardari was given lolly pop in the form of presidency for keeping his mouth shut.

I hope people knows who killed Benazir or who was involved in her murder.

Didn't the UN and the Scotland yard both point fingers towards lack of security by the government of the time( which was Musharraf's governments)

Lets listen to a real Man's opinion. from Mardaan. Siyaasi Karkoon.

You'd think a party which shed so many tears in front of cameras on that day would, hook or by crook actually go after the killers.

10 years since that date

I find it unbelievable no body noticed Khalid Shenshah's behavior on that fateful day or even watched the video clip immediately. I mean just look at this guy, talk about being incompetent. This guy apparently went to jail with Zardari and was close to him. I find it unbelievable that from Dec 2007 up to June 2008, this guy was not interrogated aggressively or even arrested for being an accomplice.

Uzair Baloch who is a well known Lyari gangster with ties to the PPP has confessed to the killing of Khalid Shenshah and prosecutors involved in investigating the Bhutto assasination.

Recently Bilawal Bhutto accussed Musharraf of killing Bhutto

This is Musharraf's response below and he makes solid arguments like most Pakistani's do

(Watch from 10:20 to 19:10)

- Why did Asif Zardari refuse the autopsy? What was he scared off? There are suggestions the autopsy would have revealed that the shot which killed her came from inside the car and not outside

- Who killed Khalid Shenshah in 2008? Who killed the killer of Khalid Shenshah? Is Uzair Baloch's confession of being involved in Benazir's murder and killing of Khalid Shenshah's killer accurate? Who killed the prosecution on Benazir's case?

- Why was Rehman Malik who was overall responsible for Benazir's security missing on that fateful moment?

- Who made the call to Benazir to come out of the car, hatch to greet supporters, just in time for the shooter to make a good shot? Who confiscated Benazir's phone?

- Why did the PPP govt from 2008 to 2013 not investigate the murder ruthlessly? Even the UN inquiry was shocked at how non serious the PPP govt was

- What was the state of Benazir's relationship with Asif Zardari prior to the assasination? There are reports that she had told him that he will no longer have any role in PPP, politics or be a minister anymore and that he should just stay in Dubai and take care of the kids while she goes to Pakistan.

- How genuine was the will which made Asif Zardari the president of the PPP and Bilawal Bhutto chairperson of the PPP for life?

There is an excellent BBC podcast on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto by Owen Bennet Jones. Well worth listening to for its insights, many of which it must be said are quite troubling.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05r6cgx/episodes/downloads

BBC always neglects to mention how many times Rehman Malik changed his story, I have seen three interviews where everytime his story was different. Something dodgy on Mush's part but her own husband is not clean. The 'will' as we know its ** as well, Benazir would never do that. She was too educated for that sort of nonsense.

Musharraf had zero incentive to have her killed. In fact her assassination was the final nail in the coffin with regards to his rule.

ASIF ALI ZARDARI BEHIND BENAZIR BHUTTO’S MURDER, ALLEGES SHEIKH RASHEED

LAHORE: Awami Muslim League chairman Sheikh Rasheed has held Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari responsible for the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, ARY News reported.

This he alleged while addressing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.

The former interior minister said Asif Ali Zardari is behind the deaths of Benazir Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto, who was poisoned in Paris. Rasheed also alleged that Zardari after taking down Benazir Bhutto from his way took over the PPP.

Sheikh lauded the people of Lahore for attending the PTI’s public rally in large numbers. Recalling his recent KSA’s visit to Umrah, Sheikh Rasheed said he saw women crying for Imran Khan at Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH).

The former interior minister held PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

He said the civil war will break loose in Pakistan if anything happens to Imran Khan.

Well daddy was in power but didn't show much interest in this. Why not? We know why, the guy has been having the time of his life since her death, does Ayaan Ali ring a bell

I think sab miley huey thay. It was a deal between Musharraf, Zerdari, Nawaz, the Americans, the Pakistan military establishment and they all used an extremist outfit to conduct the operation as they always do.

I think Betullah Mesud already admitted to the assination, but pakistanis want to keep believing a spicy conspiracy theory.

Musharaffe or ISI

On the same day, Nawaz Shareef was also attacked but he got away. Benazir was earlier targetted in karachi where a bomb was strapped on a baby which was few months old.

The purpose was to somehow get Benazir to hold the baby, hence someone from inside the party was also involved.

As for the liaquit bagh assassination, i used to live near liaqut bagh. Infact, my house was less than 1 km away from the blast area as lived in a mohalla right infront of it.

I clearly remember playing ea sports cricket 2007 when the blast happend. It was quite a strong blast as hour windows shook.

Anyways long story short, two things happend which i could never forget. They shut down the lights immediately and the area was hosed down.

The hosing down never made sense, as it was an army govt and only they could had given such orders hence my suspicion

Why didn't the PPP investigate and nail culprits. If AZ found time for the likes of Ayaan Ali, surely he had time to setup and nail the army. Admit it AZ has had the time of his life since the murder

That was the biggest failiure on the part of ppp which lead to many people leaving them. They were left with no choice but to vote for pmln. Than when PTI came along they they voted for pti.

Zardari didnt kill BB. It made no sense. You see the President was Mushraffe and under his govt we saw washing of the place and a full black out of the area

I don't know much but I always thought the TTP did.

TTP could had been used, but I dont think TTP was directly involved. It was as if someone was allowing them to do it.

The videos that emerged after that attack, it showed that there were 3-4 gun men. It was as if, after the fail attempt in Karachi, someone wanted to make sure that this around the target was not missed.

TTP isnt as such. To even blow up Mushraffe they just tried driving in their car. Here there was a suicide bomber and men with fire arms.

I always found it amazing that the people with the guns waited till the end and almost knew that Benazir would pop her head out and thats when they would use their pistols. Alot of research had been put to kill her after the fail karachi attempt.

TTP doesnt put that much research

It’s called insider info, not research. Ask chacha zerdari, he ordered the hit and benefitted the most from BB’s demise.

Zardari did not have the authority to clean up the crime scene and have the lights cut off. Those were the crucial moments.

all, to bring Zardari into power?

Or they didn't have a back up planned after Benazir and Zardari jumped on the opportunity left all in shock?

People forget that Zardari was estranged from BB.
They were not living as husband and wife.
Timing was perfect as she hadn't changed her will.

Zardari did not have the authority to clean up the crime scene and have the lights cut off. Those were the crucial moments.

But he did have the authority to order an investigation and what were the results. AZ has had the time of his life since BBs life.

I think Musharraf wanted a clean out, the Americans wanted a yes man, and Sharifs wanted power, and the Pakistan military wanted out of limelight and controlling things from behind the scenes like they always do.

BB was the front runner at the time. She did not want to play ball with any of them and her marriage with zerdari was almost at an end. I think an agreement was reached where Mushy would be allowed a clean exit, Sharifs would allow Zardari to complete his term as President and do as much loot maar as he wanted unchecked (which he did) and then he wont oppose the Sharif from coming into power, which he didnt. So Americans had their way, the military had their way, PML had its way, Zardari had his way through the sympathy vote.

I am sure you have heard this term a lot: pheechey se saarey miley hotey hein. There are times when some of them get too big for their britches and are taken out (like Bhutto, BB and Sharif in 99) but the Sharifs are cunning and find ways to get back in the good graces of america and the military.

its all a very predictable game of masters/slaves with cloak and dagger stuff. You can see which way things are going if you pay attention.

Zardari. Got rid of all male bhuttos who could challenge his power, BBs relationship with him was done as well.

I find the will to be nonsense and entirely made up by him.

I wonder what BB saw in him. Shouldn't have got married to Zardari.

I wonder what BB saw in him. Shouldn't have got married to Zardari.

I heard his family of waderas had power so she married him

But you're right no idea beyond that, she didn't have male relatives to rely on so was at his mercy. I did remember reading she wasn't living him when she came back to Pakistan, not sure why she didn't divorce him. Tho knowing our society as a woman probably understandable

I think it was a terror plot by TTP or some other terror group but the intelligence agencies chose to look the other way instead of doing their job.

I wonder what BB saw in him. Shouldn't have got married to Zardari.

She had to marry because of pakistani culture... She was entering politics, she knew in this field people will use oppurtunity to insult her. We see many posters around here you will throw false allegations against any politician who they dont like.

We saw how nawaz ans sheikh rasheed insulted her when she came into politics.

When the whole maryam nawaz and safdar case happened, many people said to benazir to use it but benazir said at the time that maryam was a child and using such things against her is wrong.

She was an amazing lady with class. Didnt go for revenge which many of her enemies always feared.

Zardari had the looks if you look at his young pics. His father was also an early founder of the party..

This will remain unsolved like the Tupac/Biggie murders

I was in Karachi when the wedding took place - was labelled the people's wedding as we all felt we were part of that.

So much hope but in heart of hearts, I knew this man wasnt right for someone of her calibre.

Another woman who was scarified at the behest of Pakistani culture..... not sure who killed her but just based on the fact that 3 out of 4 siblings were killed....not sure why any of her kids are around politics. They could be living a comfortable life anywhere like their cousins!

The man who benefited the most from her death.

Her own husband, who then went on to become the President of Pakistan for 5 years, and never ever tried to launch an investigation and find his wife's murderer.

That clown named Bilawal should be ashamed of himself. He already has 0 credibility as a politician, and he uses Bhutto's name at every opportunity to remind people he is ZAB's grandson and BB's son.

Yet, he never dared to ask his father for an inquiry on his mother's death when the latter was in power, and I can say with full conviction that this joker will never bother going after her real killer, if he ever becomes the PM.

Bunch of hypocrites and opportunists.

Agreed. It seems the PPP haven't filled that void left after her death.

I also remember when Fazal-ur-Rehman didn't approve of her before he got Minister of Petroleum. BB had to suffer a lot of abuse from all sides.

She was definitely an inspirational role model especially for Pakistani women.

Rao Anwar, a former high-profile but notorious police officer in Karachi, has claimed in a rare interview, that he did not sign the report of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to probe the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on purpose.

Anwar said he did not ink the document because he was being pressured to implicate former president and retired general Pervez Musharraf, by the then-interior minister Rehman Malik. The minister, adds the ex-cop, wanted Musharraf named without recording the former president’s statement or interrogating him.

“I did not sign [the JIT report] as Malik pressured me to accuse Musharraf,” Anwar told Geo.tv, over the phone, “I asked for evidence and he did not have any.”

The ex-cop said he is also ready to give the statement under oath.

These days, Anwar is out on bail in cases where he is accused of being involved in the murder of 400 people in fake police encounters, including Naqeeb Mehsud, a young and aspiring model.

Bhutto was murdered on December 27, 2007 in a suicide bombing in Rawalpindi. The main suspect in the case was Ikram Mehsud, who was said to be in-charge of the operation, and had been named in the court as a second suicide bomber. While Baitullah Mehsud was named as the mastermind of the attack.

Anwar told Geo.tv that another terrorist group, led by Tayyub Mehsud, was involved in the October 18, 2007, attack on Bhutto’s motorcade in Karachi, which left 180 people dead.

“They [Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party] could have arrested both Ikram and Tayyub and solved both cases,” Anwar said. But the PPP government of 2008 did not show much seriousness in the cases, he adds. “It [the cases] were politicised more than dealt with on merit.”

The former cop also raised doubts about Malik's role and believed that the former interior minister should have been probed in the case as the head of Benazir Bhutto’s security. Yet, he never was.

Rao Anwar is considered a close confidant of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The cop also questioned why the former interior minister kept the two BlackBerry phones of the former prime minister with him for nearly two years.

Malik died recently after being infected with Covid-19, and did not record his statement either with the Federal Investigation Agency or the Joint Investigation Team.

“Once, I went to meet Zardari and asked him about the Blackberry phones, he told me to go and asked Malik,” Anwar claims, “So then I went to Malik. First the minister denied he had the phones and then got angry about why I went to Zardari.”

Those phones, he adds, could have helped the investigation into Bhutto’s death.

When asked why Bhutto wrote in a letter to the police that Musharraf, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Brig. Ejaz Shah would be responsible if anything happened to her, Anwar said that there was no evidence to substantiate the claim.

He asked why those named by Bhutto were never interrogated during PPP’s government? Or why the murder of a key witness, Shahenshah Hussain, was declared a “blind case” and never pursued?

“You can’t merely implicate someone without questioning them or interrogating them,” he said, adding that the probe should have started from Rehman Malik as he was the head of security.

Rao Anwar, who at that time was posted at Gadap City Police Station was inducted in the Joint Investigation Team formed to investigate Bhutto’s murder. The JIT also comprised senior intelligence officers.

When Geo.tv asked him why he was bringing these revelations to light now, the ex-cop said that he wanted to bring some “facts on record” after hearing about the deteriorating health of Musharraf.

'How could Rao Anwar be believed?'
PPP leader Farhatullah Babar, meanwhile, told this author that there were some legal issues and, therefore, he would comment [on Anwar's claims] after speaking to Latif Khosa.

He said he would inquire about the legal position and status of the JIT report if a member of the JIT refuses to sign it, and how important it was to interrogate Musharraf.

Babar also asked how Anwar's statement could be believed, saying this this could be linked to reports of bringing Musharraf back to Pakistan as efforts are being made to acquit the retired general from the cases he is facing.

Zerdari... even a blind man can see Zerdari got her whacked. He also got her brother killed.

pmln and ppp are exposed on a daily basis, yet they continue to rule the country as the decision makers favour them.

The irony is these criminals openly named and abused the decision makers, still they are selected to run the country.

Condi Rice had brokered the deal with Benazir & Musharraf. So it makes little sense for Musharraf to have her assassinated . The deal was that she will become the domestic face of the coalition government while Musharraf controlled foreign policy and Pak-US relationship re:WoT.
She was Musharraf's ticket to hang on to power so why assassinate her. On the contrary it makes more logical sense for others who wanted to spoiler to the deal.

Hosing down the crime scene was the biggest blunder. Also need to trace/track the whereabouts of Rehman Malik and Baji Naheed as they were in the car with her. Who prompted her to get out and wave around when Musharraf's Government had provided her with credible threat info.

Why is it important to know when her own family seem not to care. Her son doesn't care, he wants the people he blamed help him become PM. His father became the establishments banker after they killed his cases

With Bilawal part of the ruling group, am sure he will want to get some more answers to this.
