It's funny, I haven't checked the stats, but will do so now. But who in your opinion has been the best batsman against the Aussies (the greatest team ever), keeping in mind their record, both at home and in Australia.

Will have the time to figure out stats later, but as of now, who is the King?

In ODI's, Sachin is the best batsman against the Aussies. In Tests, Jack Hobbs in the best batsman against the Aussies, with Sachin behind him by just 6 runs.

Kohli and jasprit too instead of sqalian and Lara.

Brian Charles Lara.

I second you. Lara was not more prolific than Sachin against Australia, but the quality of some of the innings he played against the Aussies were supreme. He scored centuries and double centuries when both McGrath and Warne played.

I’d say Hutton as he faced the best Australian fast attack.

These are the batsman the aussies fear the most
Lara
Kohli
Tendulkar
Kevin Pietersen
Laxman

Also all those great English batsmen hobbs, hutton, hammond, barrington, sutcliffe are obviously there coz they played mostly against aussies.
Aussies fear kohli more than tendulkar that's for sure.

Lol, Bumrah...based on one series against Australia B.
He was lucky to be bowling against the weakest Aussie team in history.
Let's see if he can repeat his performance before we talk of including him in any such list.

On modern era, no one have it to Aussies, harder and more consistent than Tendulkar.

Tests + ODIs, Tendulkar was often at the top of his game against them. He took it upon himself as a huge responsibility to counter them.

Modern India vs Australia rivalry pretty much finds its genesis in Tendulkar's late 1990s onslaught against them/Warne.

Ofcourse, a team of Paine, Finch, Khwaja, Harris will obviously fear a batsmen like Kohli.

While a team of Gilly, Hayden, Ponting, Waugh brothers, McGrath and Warne aren't going to fear anyone.

No a bowling lineup of Mcgrath, Gillespie, lee/Kasprowitch, Warne would never fear Kohli more than Tendulkar. Tendulkar of 90s was something else. You put that tendulkar in Kholi's team, He would be absolute brutal. You put Kohli in that 90s India side, not sure he would carry the side like Tenda did.

AussieB side would be good enough to obliterate all teams at home barring India.

Lol he would carry them even better. Kohli's performance in South Africa in 2018 is unparalleled. Those bouncy uneven pitches were the most dreadful fear invoking pitches I have ever seen. tendu would have gotten flattened in such pitches.

A bowling lineup consisting of cummins, starc, hazlewood is world clasa.

Secondly, bro i have seen it all. Kohli was the highest scorer in SA against a bowling lineup consisting of Rabada, Philnader, steyn, morkel. That's as good as any bowling lineup sachin faced.
Actually the SA pace attack in 2017 is better than any aussie PACE attack ever.

So i"ll never believe that kohli will struggle against bowlers of the 90s era.

Exactly. Go watch the South Africa series where literally everyone barring Kohli flopped.
aB did well but he got to bat first on more batting friendlier condtions.
Kohli batted in worse condtions and still outscored everyone.

You consider that Aussie attack better than the one they had during their dominance in the 2000's?

Lindwall, Miller, Johnston/Davidson and Benaud. McGrath, Gillespie, Kasprowicz/Lee/Fleming and Warne.

I’d say the fifties opening bowlers were as strong as their modern counterparts, Benaud as strong as Warne, and Johnston or Davidson certainly better than Lee etc.

You could say Benaud was not as good as Warne but the latter benefited from a change in the lbw law. If players facing Benaud played a shot, they could not be given out lbw. Of course batters would pretend to play shots while hiding the bat to the rear of the pad but Warne would still get more lbw shouts upheld.

lol said no one ever.

current attack of australia is actually their best ever. their batting just sucks outside australia and new zealand.

kasprowicz, lee et all arent better than their current 4. Maybe gillespie could make the team and thats doubtful too tbh. he lived off mcgrath.

Yeah, I agree...but it only shows that other teams are poor. It doesn't mean that Bumrah and his team are some greats.
They still have a lot to prove before being included in these lists.

SA 2017 pace attack had washed up Steyn and Morkel along with a Rookie Rabada. SA a year later got whitewashed by Sri lanka at home. Better than any Aussie pace attack ever? I highly doubt that.

Current Aussie pace attack are yet to perform against India and in sub-continent. How can this attack be deemed as the best ever? But I agree with the point about Gillespie. Both he & Lee averaged 26 & 29 respectively with Mcgrath playing. Averages of both bowlers went down to 30 & 31 without Mcgrath. Shane Warne too suffered without Mcgrath.

Correction*. As their(Aussies) best ever. Not best ever.

Tbf winning in India is extremely hard for even the greatest team. You need everything going for you to win.

I would say it's top 2 of their best ever attack. Current pace attack of Aussies.

In those condtions yes. Saffers attack were better. Depends on conditions. Philander, rabada, Morkel and Steyn is an ATG level attack in bouncy seaming wickets.
