Surprising to not see Anderson and Broad in the list of contenders.
Also surprising that Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Shami have gain one vote already.
For me it's Josh Hazlewood!
Hazlewood ain't good enough?Cummins, Starc, Rabada, and surprisingly Bhuvi although the latter has probably bullied weak teams in helpful conditions. But bhuvi is almost as good as any in terms of his ability to swing the new ball. Unsurprisingly the first 3 are all express quicks.
Anderson, Broad, Boult and Southee seem to off form but can be devestating when on song. Coincidentally all 4 of these guys are medium pacers.

For me he's the best test bowler in the world followed by Rabada.
Starc is grossly overrated in test cricket, his action is great for maximising pace but it does limit the amount of bounce he can get from a good length; and to add on the majority of his wickets are of tailenders, which again proves my initial point that his action limits what he can achieve in test cricket. It's great for spearing it in at the stumps (hence, being one of the best ODI bowlers in the world) but your not going to get decent top order players out by simply spearing it in unless it's swinging, which it hardly does in the modern day.

Apart from a single series against SL Starc is yet to do more than simply run through the tail, and as I said previously this trend for Starc in test cricket is going to continue.Yeah Hazelwood definitely in the top tier. Not sure if he's better than Rabada or Starc. I would say Cummins is amongst the very best right at the moment.
To add on he's not even the best test bowler in his own side, quite the opposite actually with both Cummins and Hazlewood being superior bowlers, in the longer format. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say there are better test bowlers in the domestic circuit then Starc- one of em' being Behrendorff.Apart from a single series against SL Starc is yet to do more than simply run through the tail, and as I said previously this trend for Starc in test cricket is going to continue.
Agree with this. In the action itself a delayed arm and the long stride are all good to generate pace, but the bounce goes missing. Hence, Starc is over-reliant on producing that magic delivery to dismiss batsman. Spearing it in is all good to the tailender but your not going to get batsman out like that.To add on he's not even the best test bowler in his own side, quite the opposite actually with both Cummins and Hazlewood being superior bowlers, in the longer format. Philander and Wagner are better than at least half of the names on that list.
Why can't I see the poll?

Hazlewood is your answer to how McGrath would be bowling in a batting era, which is still very well, identical bowling.
Rabada needs more tests to be proven, because I can guarantee you that Hazlewood will end up with stats like McGrath so he is proven, will be tough for Rabs but we'll see
I agreeAnderson has 13 wickets from 7 away matches in the last 2 years at an avg of 45.
Just saying
I agree

Interesting - thanks for that Jeetu
Rabada averages 22, champ.
On the contrary, Josh was toothless in India, apart from Bangalore, & Starc as well as Cummins outbowled him easily. The same goes for his tour of SL & Bangla, first test.while playing lesser matches, all im saying is Hazlewood is a proven bowler because he's a carbon copy of McGrath, through his action and bowling intellect, he's already proven for me, McGrath was consistently a beast of a cricketer.
Rabada might have slumps where he might not do good because he doesn't have the McGrath DNA to do well on all surfaces, his action is more prone to injury as well unlike Hazles
James Anderson and by a considerable margin. If conditions are perfect, he is almost unplayable. That ball to get rid of Vijay in Lords test is the best delivery I hv seen for long time.
#GOAT![]()
Rabada and then Hazlewood. Anderson and Broad are up there too, but not the best at the moment.
Right. And if they are not perfect? Compare Anderson in the UAE to Abbas in the UAE.
Two people actually voted for Amir? He shouldn't even be in the list.
The poll was started in 2017 and Amir was in the Test team then.
I think thread is about FAST bowlers, how come abbas come in contention
So one of the greatest ever in Mcgrath shouldn't be considered as great since he wasn't fast enough?
Interestingly Kapil dev, a medium pacer, remains india best ever fast bowler, guys like you probably thinks that he was a leggie.
Mohd Abbas has great skills and takes wickets which is all that matters.
Just wanted to show how some PPers disrespect kapil paji.

Surprised to see no contenders for Bumrah !
Anderson has an average of 20 in UAE.
