T20 isn't a format where you judge coach; more so true for franchise cricket where players are picked through draft.
If team performance is the yard-stick, last two will be the two man most successful in PSL previously, in some capacity - Misbah & Moeen.
Overall, I'll say Andy has done wonders with an average Multan squad, while whoever is in charge of PZ (Most likely Sammy - be as Captain or Coach) must draw respect. I probably am least impressed by Dean Jones, because that KK squad should be a GUN team, arguably stronger than most International sides with 7-8 International starters in it......
From bottom to top, my rank will be
1. Misbah - completely killed the IU unit; wrong order, wrong combination.... he should have been sacked just for benching Gohar until it was too late. I don't think IU players even tried desperately under him. A coach can't develop/build a team much in T20 leagues for the type of cricket played there and the short, congested schedule teams had to run through; but Misbah gave a perfect impression of how a Coach can destroy/disintegrate a good unit. He was already over burdened by PCB and only saved by the SRL/BD home series, but this PSL actually gives a glimpse of where PCT will be heading under him over long course.
2. Aquib - I am not sure actually what he is doing there. Still, LQ is completely an individual dominant team, living on someone doing miracles on his day. Best 4-5 individual performances of this PSL has come from LQ (Shaheen, Samit with ball, Dunk's two innings, Lynn's century), hence they are in SF, but that squad is too scattered and often clueless, despite the coach there for 3+ years now. That LQ bowling attack should be stand-out in this PSL, add to that bonus bowling from Samit and these two Aussie guys are absolute killers on their day ...... still, I am sure most LQ fans are surprised - how could we make it!!!!!
3. Moin - Just don't have the clue for this level. It was Sarfraz's gangster like (but effective in T20) Captaincy style that made them a good team in past, but now Sarfraz looks to have lost his confidence after being dropped from PCT. Also, Moin/Sarfraz's biggest mistake was that, they didn't consider that their players were aging (Watson, probably the best player so far in PSL history), or fading away. Of the 6 Coaches, I believe Moin is the most vulnerable one for next season - both Misbah & Aquib has enough contacts (as it looks) for a pay cheque again next year, but this guy might not be so lucky.
4. Jones - not sure this KK team could have done worse than this, regardless of who is coach. That Aussie guy joined KK at 11th hour and for sure he didn't have enough time to spell his magic on this squad. KK is a fantastic T20 team with 7-8 genuine top class T20 players, add to that Sarjeel gamble worked ..... anyone could have taken this unit to top 3 - you don't need to "coach" that unit with SK, Babar, Hales, Delport, Imad, Jordan, Amir, Walton, Iftekhar ... firing. In fact, some of their reserves would have walked into most other squads - Yamin, Awais, Rizwan, Umer/Usama, Umaid, Arshad.....
5. Sammy - Only for Haidar, PZ coach should get lots of praise. They backed a PAK youngster, and got good returns out of him. And, their top 4 finish was a collective effort - apart from one/two innings Kamran hardly fired, Wahab/Hasan hardly ran through sides .... still, they are one game away from a spot in Final - impressive.
6. Andy - simply the best coach, who brought the synergy in his average squad; made best use of his resources, rotated players, exchanged positions, probably was the best fielding unit. Most importantly, MS was the only squad, which won most games on collective effort - there could be multiple MoM in many of their games and I don't think that squad was depending on any individual. In T20, Coach can hardly develop players, and in draft system one can't buy out success like ManCity or Juve or Bayern or PSG - MS won most games and many of those were quite tight, they just managed to edge past opponents regardless of batting first or second, which suggests, they did their home work perfectly - lots of data/situational analysis, ins & outs of own players, quick changeover of tactics, picking horses for course and most importantly fitting players into a situation of his strength (other way, his players knew their strength). In a T20 draft based league, what else a Coach can do when he often had compromised (5th/6th) draft picks?
