I’ve gotten into stand up comedy a little bit over this quarantine. I’m not really a huge fan of it but I’ve enjoyed the classics like Pryor, Chappelle, Murphy etc.

Although I would have to say my favourite is Louis C.K. It can be tough to watch his stuff after recent events but he just manages to tickle my funny bone like no one else. I know his comedy isn’t for everyone and loads of people dislike it.

Russel Peters old , David Chapelle ,Katt Williams (watched him live was excellent)

Desi: Abhishek Upmanyu, Sumit Anand

Eventhough there is netflix I would advice people to atleast once watch Standup comedy live of a big performer, they have openings by other comedians as well before the mainevent.

Everyone has that doubt and yes he was..had a towel with him all the time has a lot of energy , I defn like Black comedians, somehow I find them funnier not sure why.

I saw his 2018 tour.. somehow he incorporated every city's weather in the opening act and guess everyone thought their city was unique lol

I can't stand Russel Peters. I can't understand why anyone would assume him to be funny. The guy is an outright racist.

Don’t like comedy because of bad language, but Jimmy Yang is pretty funny:

Russel Peters, Kapil Sharma during his initial days, Chris Rock, Bill Burr , George Carlin and Bill Hicks.

Omid Djalili and Shappi Khorsandi are the funniest I have seen live.

RP has lived off two funny bits and jokes for what,10 years now?

The undisputed genius of stand-up comedy is Dave Chappelle. It’s not even close.

His storytelling eclipses all the greats; I find Pryor overrated.

Carlin is second but he tends to be overbearing at times. Same philosophical school of comedy as Chappelle.

And no, Joe Rogan is not a stand-up comic. Or a comic. Or at any time whatsoever, funny.

he just points the stereotypes, and he is Indian heritage so makes fun of himself to.

What he tells, every person can relate to him.

What makes Russell Peter funny is not those stereotypical jokes of his, but the knowledge he holds regarding different cultures and his observational skills which are very good.

See, he studied at a school called North Peel Secondary school. This school is a Highschool for students who were not academically good, and many people who had learning difficulties or were opting for vocational courses would go to these school. It had a bad reputation and every misfit of the city went there.
I know this because i used to study at another school which was right across this one, wiliams parkway. And many students who were not opting for careers had to move to the school across when reaching grade 9.

So, Russell Peter was being told and groomed at early on that he was dumb and cant do anything. He had to go such schools and stuff. But yet, while this guy knew how to throw jokes, he had great observational skills. And when he throws a joke, he throws by going back in life remember the people of different races he met in Toronto or in different countries and relates to that.

The guy is a masterclass, a genius in my opinion. His story is very inspiring. He is probably the very few celebrities to come out of Brampton and he came from the worst school of the area. He was pushed around alot and made to think that he had no worth due to the school he was put in.

Many people here saying earlier Peters was better, but i think he has improved. He has gained more knowledge of different cultures, has traveled more. If you guys get offended by him picking on crowd, let me tell you people go to attend his show hoping to get picked on. Its hilarious, if people are gonna mind they wont go.

My favorite one was how he told everyone that Saudi's keep a Filipino maid, and to prove to people that he wasn't lieing he points out to the one Saudi dude he was picking on earlier, and the guy is laughing because there was truth in Russel's statement and he holds up two fingers indicating that yeh even he had two Filipino maids.

Very smart guy

I would also like to add regarding Russel is that now the problem is we live in an age where everyone gets offended. You make a joke, and you will be bashed on social media. Many people like Conan have pointed out that the jokes they made in the 90s or early 2000s cant be made today as people are very insensitive. What they forget that this is comedy

I also loved Amanullah Khan(punjabi theater artist) . I know due to language difference people wouldn't know much about him but he is hilarious

I don't think he is a racist. His comedic style may seem racist but you need to have an open mind.

I like his older works.

Russell Peters is just brilliant. Just a small tip, never sit on the front row on his shows. You are bound to get roasted by Russell for your race.

In Desi, I absolutely loved the original great Indian laughter challenge in 2006. Comedians of today are no where close to the likes of Raju Srivastav, Sunil Pal, Naveen Prabhakar, Ehsaan Khuresi etc.

Comedians today have to keep it politically correct. I miss old comedy.

A character like Borat is unlikely to happen in today's age, for example.

No man. People love to take the front seat just to get the roast from RP. Its hilarious.

His present works aren't that great, TBH.

His quality has gone down.

But, I consider him as a comedy legend.

Martin McIntyre.

The fact he doesn't have to resort to profanity means he's clean family fun.

I also love his 'Send to All' show.

LOve Dave Chapelle. Maz Jobrani isn't bad either! Louis CK is pretty funny too

Abhishek Upmanyu had one that was totally out of this world ... you know the "watching adult movie" one. It was crazy funny.
Kunal Kamra has some good ones too and so as Punit Panya.

There is also a very funny one by Davesh Dixit, "Road Rage and getting married". Search it up on youtube. It's very good.

Willdo but I somehow prefer Varun Grover over Kamra.. also find most of the Indian comic mostly upcoming .. Akash Gupta is good too, long journey ahead for these guys but they are defn better than the first batch of Gill, Biswa, Kenny who i like too but don’t think they can go further

Varun Grover’s new video on Youtube is pretty hilarious, he called out Indian Liberals for being lazy and dumb.
