After loss against India, and getting some treatment by Pant, I am not sure Paine should be considered for captaincy.

Smith SHOULD NEVER captain Australia again.

Cummins is good option but seeing how frequently he gets injured, he may not be the right choice.

Rest are pretty new except Usman Khawaja. I feel UZ could be good leader. He has some experience with leadership and can influence lot of guys. He is also aggressive as Australia needs.

What do you guys think?

Their test team's situation feels a bit like pakistan's: the seniors havent performed well enough or consistently enough to hold a position in the team.
I take that back, its slightly worse than Pakistan in the sense, there's no young player who might be ready for it. I hear Jason Sanga's (I hope I spelt the name right) name being thrown around quite a bit.

Why not appoint a bowler - Nathan Lyon?

I don't see anything wrong with Paine though. The problem with Australia is that they have lost an entire generation of players because they never hit escape velocity - Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, them. The fact that David Warner was vice captain shows how bare the cupboard is.

Without sandpaper gate, Smith was doing a good job. Paine will be captain till after the ashes. Not sure who will be long term skipper. Don’t see Australia making Hazlewood full time captain and Marsh doesn’t make the team on merit.

Tim Paine should continue. One has to understand it becomes really hard when you play with a team not having enough test standards batsmen.
