I'm not saying dropping him. Yes it's his comeback series but he's been around long enough. You will has Nawaz , Imad, etc even though they are new to international cricket but someone who has been around for over 7 years and still failing is seen as "out of form".
so fans are to blame?

his poor patch continues. but his innings in 2nd and 3rd ODI weren't bad. I know he is in immense pressure and not in great form of his life so I will give him benefit of the doubt. he is much much better player than we saw tonight. But knowing our resources I will not dump him after this series. WI should be the last series before we sent him to domestic cricket again.
I might have agreed with you but then he looked really solid after Wade's let off in the 3rd ODI. It was too much for him to do today. come out and hit boundaries from the word go. He is still finding his feet and battling his lost form. I think we need to show patience with him for one more series. trust me we have bigger problems than Umar Akmal at the moment. He has lost his ability to pace his innings, he is strictly t20 material now where he has no pressure on how to play out the overs..
You can almost read it from Akmal's face that he is in two minds on whether to block or blast.. he doesn't enjoy the staying on pitch, single doubles game..
He loves the big shot.. in t20 there is no restriction for that..
But in ODI you have to think about it since you have to build a partnership..
Its not pressure, he enjoys the boundary game.. and needs a license to do that whenever he wants
Let the guy open and play his shots. It's kind of hilarious watching him bat at 6 trying to assess the situation and identify which shots would be risk-free. He simply doesn't have the brain for that. It will always result in him getting in two minds and self implosion. He likes going aerial and no better time for that than as opener. He can't take that route with 4-5 patrolling the boundary.
What shots? They are non-existent these days.

Can we just give Umar Akmal this series to prove himself? He is not a robot! You dont drop a player into a series and clap your hands and expect him to start hitting 100 in every match. He needs to get back into the feel of international cricket and the tour of Australia isnt exactly the best place for that.

Since 2014, Umar Akmal averages 22 against top 8 odi teams with 3 fifties in 22 innings. Great talent.
I would've agreed with you, but the question is intent.. Intent was not there, if he had no played at a strike rate of 44, I would've probably defended him, he didn't at any point look like he is gonna take the bowlers on.. the body language was very negative as well.. no defence for shrugged shoulders
Yeah the entire world is after supa dupa talented Umar Akmal. I even heard Misbah and Waqar have also conspired to put extra ghee in Umar Akmal's roti which has resulted in his big bulging belly and double chin. Damn you Misbah and Waqar, why you do this to poor Umar?![]()
ha ha ha...........
Take responsibility for your own actions. Umar Akmal has been in team for 4+ years now. His game from day 1 has not evolved. Same horrible shot selection during crunch time, throwing away wickets, selfish attitude, immature off the field. And during this time top coaches have exposed him.

He should stay there till the end and get a big score to get some confidence
Not his fault, this one.
Was left in a hopeless situation.
I wonder if Handscomb has saved his career.
After being dropped we saw decent umar for the first time in a while. He has disappointed me endlessly but i hope he gets picked for windes.
This is more due to fact i see no other lower order batsman in pak capable of having a go except maqsood, and umar is better than him.
at number 7 we will need another allrounder
hopefullly PSL gives us a lower order striker like it gave us Sharjeel
Enough with playing him in the lower order. Is too brainless to play according to the situation but has a lot of ability and is technically good. I back him to do really well if he opens with Sharjeel
Opening is the only slot where he could succeed a bit. Mind you I am not saying he would. Same with kamran akhmal as well.
I repeat,
For number 6 in Odi's you need a player who is super fit, whose batting Intelligence is A+, whose calculations are A+, who is patient and can play with the bowlers mind with his planning and execution of shots to offset their line and length and to force them to get out of their comfort zone.
Not Just the ability to hit Big
In all the areas I have mentioned Umar as a finisher which he is not can be graded as a " B Grade Batsman "
I maintain,
Umar Akmal should not be selected in Pakistan Odi Squad or Playing Eleven if he is not going to bat at number 3 or number 4.
Umar Akmal can't even bat at #3 or #4 either. What a delusion
Judgemental, Supremacist
Out of 105 innings. Only 1 at number 3 and 5 at number 4.

Kamran is scoring at a strike rate of 70 in domestic tournaments, so no.
If Harris is back , he will be playing at number 4 , Sarfraz at 5 and Khalid latif and umar akmal will fight for number 6
Why do people automatically assume he will do well if he is higher up in the batting order? He has shown zero ability to build an innings. He gets out not because fielders are outside but while trying to slog in the same places (slog to leg boundary, slog to short ball and late cut being caught by keeper) so how will having the field up help him when he hits to the same places and even in first 10 overs opposition can place fielders there?
1) Does he have the ability to play and respect the moving ball without throwing it away?
2) Can he find the gaps on the field without hitting in the air?
3) Can he milk singles and twos even with the field up?
4) Can he build long innings with patience?
5) Can he chose not to play his favorite slogs to places where captains will have fielders for him even in the first ten overs?
Answer based on his current form seems to be NO
All other teams have specialist openers who prove themselves, only Pak fans want to go back to the 90s style of playing pinch hitters.

You do realize he was dropped and benched in the 2014 year for better technique Shafiq and experienced YK by captain Misbah? And you also realize he missed one year of cricket due to Misbbah and Waqar making him the scapegoat of 2015 world cup?
it's really unfair how Umar Akmal has been treated.
Who to blame?
What poor score? He has been a success for 81.367% of his career.
