You can go either way with Malik or Sarfaraz. Personally, I would prefer Malik after Sarfaraz's idiotic recent behaviour but it also depends on both of their form, as well as the form of Mohammad Rizwan.

The captain is probably going to be the only player who is guaranteed to play all nine WC group stage matches and therefore, needs to be one of the team's best performers, along with also being a good tactician and motivator.

What does it matter?

The team will perform almost similar whether its Sarfraz, Hafeez or Malik which are the only 3 realistic possibilities.

Malik is probably out of picture after 2 series losses in ODI and T20 to South Africa.

So if PCB go radical, it would be Hafeez. Otherwise, nothing but Sarfraz, is the option and those dreaming of Babar, Imad are just dreaming nonsense.

I'm amazed at how many people want to stick with Sarfraz. I mean if you look at the way he's lost the plot with his tweets and response to Shoaib's take on his offensive remarks, does this guy look a like a player who can handle pressure and is by any means fit to lead the side?

one's career should depend on his own performance rather than failures of others. he has given the opportunity, he's been given plenty of time period, he's got backing of PCB, so now he should deliver or make way for some other after WC. so in my opinion it's fair

That was Akram’s 2nd WC as Captain. PAK has a changeover of Captaincy every WC not because of a policy (or curse), rather their Captaincy picks were poor and always down the hill players led the team, who were often Captain first, then player; otherwise first 7 WC had seen 3 Captains only and it would have been first eight as well, but for Justice Qayum report.

If you look at the Captains and there age, no way any of them could have led for one more WC -

Wasim - 33
WY - 32
IuH - 37
Afridi - 31
Misbah - 41
Sarfraz - 32

.... these are official ages by the way - if I put my judgement on this, posters will get after me, but that’s fact.

Injury, off field issues and internal politics didn’t help, otherwise since 2003 there should have been only 2-3 Captains at most; like this

2007: Saqlain
2011: Malik or Butt
2015: Malik or Butt
2019: Butt or Amir
2023: Amir
2027: Babar
2031: Babar ........


You can replace Malik with Hafeez for the 2015 one.

Which is good for the team, with sarfraz and his fitness I don’t see him playing 2023 CWC unless he improves his fitness.

Can’t agree more. And yes handing the reins to the one who has zero experience in LOIs is inviting a disaster to happen.
