I do. Sir Lanka is a young team which has work hard and deserves to make the semi-final of CT. Pakistan is an old team and the batting lineup is not good and a win over Sri Lanka means the TTFs will remain in the team :facepalm:. For greater good so that operation cleanup can start, I want Sri Lanka to beat Pakistan. Who is with me? :misbah

I am disgusted at this thread and the mentality of the OP. I for one want my team to win at all costs. I don't care what will happen in future. In sports, which I am sure you're never played in your life, we compete to win and that should be it !!!

Any "Pakistani" who wants SL to beat Pakistan needs to get their head checked.

Me too, I really admire their cricket and selflessness, something that is absent in Pakistani cricket. The question should be edited, its not Pakistan, its PCB and Najam Sethi XI, where few senators or even higher up officials are politically picking people from Chairman to players. This has resulted in players sticking on to to the team who make youcringe. There is only one region or province [Punjab] where majority of these players come from. KPK and Sindh have deserving players but they are ignored. The ones who were picked since last year are all out of the team for other reasons. 2 [Sharjeel & Khaled Latif] have been accused of fixing and they are suffering thru Pcb proceedings for 6+ months, Sohail Khan was'nt poiked due to an argument with the bowling coach. People are celebrating Fakhar Zaman, unsure he will suffer similar fate if he stays on.

Cricketing wise also Pakistan is the worst batting side to watch in LOIs. Even the thought of Azhar Ali, Hafeez Shehzad and Azam makes me angry. Selfish dot ball players, playing for themselves than the team. I doubt anyone enjoys watching dots. The loss to India is not something to be proud of and it does affect the morale of fans. I really hope it rains and Pakistan is relieved of its position or else more misery awaits the cricket fans.
 
Expect Hafeez and Malik, Pakistan is a pretty young team. Also Hafeez is the only one in the XI right now that truly counts as a TTF, so no I don't want Pakistan to lose just because of one player.

We will remain a poor team regardless of whether we crash out in the group or go all the way and win the trophy. We won the World T20 in 2009, but nothing changed. We followed that up with a thrashing in SL.

So if we are going to continue to be rubbish, we may as well take these random, one-off successes.

Neutral in this one!!obviously srilanka's batting is much better than mediocre bunch of pakistan though I want them to do well.

I want Pakistan to win but Mendis and Mathews to score runs so that their averages are not disturbed.

Mendis is potentially a world class batsman in the making, and Mathews has been one of my favorite players since his debut. I feel sorry for the latter at times, a lot of his potential has been wasted because he plays for a relatively weak team. He is an elite cricketer, one of the finest SL has ever produced.

Sri Lanka batting line up is very exciting but most Pakistan fans will want Pakistan to win.

Indian fans will probably be supporting Lankans. Maybe Bangldesh fans also.

I would agree with it if your premise was true , the only thing that will happen from a miserable loss is that you might loose hafeez or azhar or wahab ( or even coach as wrong as that may be), but this will happen at the expense of Umar akmal , ahmed shahzad , kamran akmal coming back.

Never wish for a loss !
 
The challenge for OP was to praise the PCT but still hate on Saifi, needless to say he failed in that challenge :afridi
 
No real fan would ever hope for a Pakistan loss.Even the biggest of pessimists always carry a small hope of victory in their hearts.I will never back down from supporting my team,even if we go through tough times(like we are now).We criticise many players but once they put on the green shirt(or whites) I will back them and never hope for failiure.

Always back your team,no matter how much you like the opposition.Sri Lanka are standing between us and victory and we must raze them down.No mercy.

Stupid thread! No Pak fan would want us to lose. We are also a new team as well that need our support. I may often criticise our players and tactics but will always support the team whenever they take the field. For goodness sake if we win the toss then please bat first unless conditions are overcast with a good chance of swinging.

No sane Pakistani will want that.
Pakistan only has 2 seniors and they will retire most prob after 2 years.Malik might retire earlier.
If we perform well then its bye bye to Wahab,Shehzad and all other such players.
Azhar is the only one I am concerned about

T20 and ODIs are two different kettles of fish
We won the T20 format and we dominated that format for quite a long time eventually losing to the Aussies in 2010.

Win here can take us forward and seniors may also retire just to have a 'graceful' exit from ODIs

Pakistan should win this. Pak still has a better firepower than the Lankans. One match hardly changes a thing

If we go all the way, that would mean we would have beaten the likes of SA, Australia and England in the same week or so. A poor team can't do that.

One fluke can happen but you can't fluke 4 games in a row against top opposition.

If Pakistan win then chances increase of this above-mentioned trash [Akmals, Shehzad] coming back. This pathetic board is the nail in the coffin of Pakistan cricket, they only know how to exploit the win in their benefit.

Sri Lanka deserves to progress and give viewers some entertaining cricket.

Hafeez will never fail against SL, they are the one team he can be relied on to thrash whenever wherever. Hopefully Fakhar comes good and SL take the plane home leaving Mathews behind so we can kidnap him and play him in an Azhar mask :)))

Pakistan, and if Pakistan can somehow win the CT it would be a huge boost to their cricket, world needs a strong Pakistani cricket team like the mid 80's and 90's....
 
I personally want Pakistan to win ( because they are the only team we can thrash in the final) but why would a Pakistani not want their team to win? :))

The average age of the Sri Lankan team which beat India is 28.3

The average age of the Pakistani team which beat South Africa is 27.7

Do you think the Pakistani team beat South Africa and got themselves into this position without working hard?

If Pakistan beat South Africa and Sri Lanka - how are Sri Lanka more deserving than Pakistan to reach the Semi Final of the CT?

Please remind me when was the last time a defeat triggered a clean up operation?

More importantly - out of the XI players who played against South Africa who exactly do you want to 'clean up'? Hafeez? Sure - I get that - Haris can replace him. Who else? Azhar? Who do you want to replace Azhar? The fact that even though Azhar is clearly working on his game, trying to be more aggressive and rotate the strike more, you may still want to drop him raises many questions as to what your expectations are from international players.

We have a young captain, we have a large number of young/new players (Fahkar, Babar, Hasan, Shadab, Harris Sohail) and then we have fans like you who have no patience, no brains and wishing poorly on the team you supposedly support.

if a Sri Lanka win will mean Inzi go berserk on the team and kicked out Azhar Ali, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, tell Babar Azam to stop playing selfishly or be out of team, tell Sarfraz Ahmed to man up and play at #4 or be out of team, tell Shoiab Malik to finish game or be out of team, tell Mohammad Amir to put more effort into his bowling to take wickets and not pull the cramps stunt again or be out of team, tell Junaid Khan to not bowl bad in 2 continuous matches or be out of team then hallelujah I am all up for a Sri Lanka win

Stop wasting your tears. That is not the way world works. If selectors or PCB were this honest to the country, they would have already done so. Misbah leading the Pak ODI side was the biggest torture Pak fans have suffered yet the policy to carry the players with no substance never changed. Even with a handicapped Pak team, my best wishes will always be with it as a true Pak cricket fan.
 
I think the OP means that IF Pakistan win, than the management has an excuse to keep the TTF's for longer. However, IF Sri Lanka win, than they will be forced to at least get rid of the remaining deadwood in the team. It's like when South Africa beat Australia in the recent test series 2-1. If Australia had won, would they have inducted new blood against Pakistan in the following series and gotten rid of the aging players? Unfortunately, not everyone has an eye for talent nor a vision for the future like Imran Khan.
