So Babar Azam will be missing the first leg otherwise he would have been the obvious choice for many.

So who will it be, any young and emerging batsman or some experienced veteran?

Really hope it's either Zeeshan Malik or Sharjeel. Would have liked it to be Abdallah Shafique but they'll play him too far down the order to get many runs

Zeeshan is most likely going to get many games this season as per indication from Mohammad Wasim so if he finds form and gets going you never know.

Regarding Sharjeel, I think he is pretty dangerous batsman but, not sure if he has the ability to carry on the momentum and score consistently match after match. On his day though he can destroy any bowling attack, needs to work on his spin play in the middle overs in my opinion.

Abdullah Shafique is gonna get a good run in the top 4 I think. Babar isnt available for the first leg for CP and Kamran, Abid are potential openers. Rizwan Hussain is an opener but did pretty well at no 5 off last season so given the squad playing XI will require atleast two debutants in the middle which has to be Abdullah Shafiq and one of Qasim and Irfan. Saad Nasim is the captain in the absence of Babar and usually prefers batting around 4 and below.

So CP XI could be like this at the start

Kamran (WK)
Abid
Abdullah
Nasim (C)
Rizwan
Qasim/ Irfan
Faheem

Some names I’m looking at are Zeeshan Malik, Sharjeel Khan, Haider Ali, Saif Badar, Zeeshan Ashraf, Ali Imran, Fakhar Zaman, and Umar Amin.

4 of these 8 names are from Northern which says a lot about how strong their side is to defend the title.

Further, all of these were players developed by Mohammad Wasim.

Some names I am looking foward to are sharjeel khan, haider ali, zeeshan malik, saif badar, qasim akram, abdullah shafique Muhammed Harris if given a chance

Mohammad Rizwan is going to carry on his good form. Not sure if he'll end up as top scorer but he'll be right up there this year.

I hope this national cup brings some luck to Umar Amin. He looks so elegant. Would love to see him play for Pakistan.

Better if some new batsman makes it.....not the Kamis.......Malik's.....anymore.....

Sharjeel Khan is very strong candidate. He is head and shoulder above all the openers. Abdullah Shafiq is another talented guy but he bat at No.4 like Hafeez. To me in this tournament pick of the batsmen are Sharjeel, Hafeez, haider, Azam Khan. These are the guys who can won the game single handedly.

Azam khan struggles against decent pace outside off.

Khurram Manzoor is now the top run-scorer

Sohaib Maqsood, famously the player Shahid Afridi said was the laziest person in training! Interesting to see he's lifted up his game at this point.

Fakhar Zaman ends the Tournament as top-scorer.

Never expected so much consistency from Fakhar especially in T20s. Good stuff.

The relevant stats here are:

a) Highest Average across a large sample size (say, at least 9 innings)
b) Starting strike rate (strike rate in first 15 balls faced)
c) Percentage dots played
d) Overall strike rate
e) Lastly total runs

Whilst Fakhar, Sohaib and perhaps Khushdil do well in all the above categories, I imagine Rizwan, Imam Khurram Manzoor would have more mixed results across these 5 categories.
