Just making this thread so we can come back in (hopefully) four years time to check how right we were.

I think Keir Starmer will be the next PM but looking at the sudden rise of Rishi Sunak he might pose quite a significant challenge too.

Some outsiders i think who could win are:

Sajid Javed
Rebecca Long-Bailey
Priti Patel

As four years is a long time, it's hard to predict but these are the few people who i think who have some chance (however minute) of winning the election.

Priti Patel is a bit too thick so we can immediately rule her out, plus she doesn't sound too right

Anyone who is anti immigrants, pro old British Empire and very pro the rich.

UK citizens are too brainwashed now, there is no hope to see the trees through the woods.

Even after Boris another Blair or Boris will be here.

The Coronavirus situation is the reason why Priti Patel is still in the Cabinet. Otherwise, she would be the one in the media headlines considering all the bullying actions that started surfacing about her. The ex-Permanent Secretary's legal action for constructive dismissal claim would have laid bare all the abuse she's been dishing out to Civil Service staff in the various govt. Ministries that she's been a minister in. This legal action may still take place,

Rishi Sunak is a funny name.

In Sanskrit Sunak means Dog.

Sunak is likely an alternate spelling for Sau-nak, meaning "child sage" in Sanskrit.

Dog in Sanskrit is Shu-nak.

Rishi Sunak has made all the right moves so far. Still early days for him.

Labour is probably out for another decade, unless they change course or the Tories bungle massively

I dunno, Brexit will be biting hard by then, and this Govt is dithering on Coronavirus. If Labour get their act together under Starmer, there might be a Labour / Scot Nat / Lib Dem alliance.

Or Brexit will be a success and we will see Boris break Thatcher's run.

Funny how the LDs were attacking Labour, now are supporting Labour, attacking the Tories.

It will be Rishi Sunak....great lad. At the young age of 38...he already speaks more maturely than Boris & Trump combined. For many that dont know, he is the son in law of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy.

Britain will be in great hands if he gets selected.

It's a balancing act for LDs. A lot of centrists were repelled by Corbyn so Swinson had to slate him to try to win them back from the Tories.

Starmer is more credible so will spook the centrists less, and that will enable LDs to pinch more votes from Tories.

He is a yes man. He was brought in because Sajid would not do what Cummings told him.

Agreed. I did not want to like Sunak, but I have to admit I have been quite impressed by how he carries himself. But ultimately he comes across as a willing no 2 rather than a leader himself. He is like the Robin to a somewhat pudgy Batman.

Lol calm down.

He is good but we all know you’re just saying that because he’s Indian

From what i’ve seen he’s a yes-man and Boris LOVES yes-men

Nothing wrong with being an YES man. For a stable and 1st world country like Britain, a politically correct and eloquent yes man has got greater chance to succeed than someone with rebel attitude. Also, for a brown/black guy to succeed in western world and reach on top, he has to become yes man. Dont forget, even great Barack Obama was a yes man and was very successful.

Where this yes man attitude dont work is in third world countries like ours where corruption is rampant. Prime example was Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is a great man himself but was just a yes man of Mrs Gandhi. And the result and mass corruption is for everyone to see. In countries like ours, you need a strong rebel leaders who take things head on.

Western people don't want to be led by YES men either. A yes man is fine as the sidekick whose job it is to make No 1 look good. That is our Rishi.

Obama a yes man? Ridiculous.

No surprise you support Rishi, given his ancestry. Rishi is a loser of the highest order. The bigliest loser.

Maybe you’ve not followed UK politics which is why you don’t know but being a yes-man is seen as an insult. You have a brain of your own so you should use it not say “yes” again and again.

Don’t be a sheep.

Rishi is a yes-man

Rishi seems like a half decent chap. He has that 16 year old school prefect look about him.

I have no doubt that he was probably head boy at school and the biggest teacher's pet.

He will do fine with Cummings pulling the strings.

Think it depends on how Brexit goes; if it goes well, Leadsom or JRM, if it goes badly, one of the more pro-European people like Hunt

The more pertinent question is: does it really matter?
