Some food for thought

Fakhar Zaman with 521 runs is the most successful batter while Kamran Ghulam has scored 234 runs, Mohammad Hafeez 226 runs, Harry Brook 208 runs and Abdullah Shafique 180 runs. Amongst the bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi has led from the front and by example by claiming 15 wickets, followed by Zaman Khan (14 wickets) and Haris Rauf (13 wickets). Rashid Khan also picked up 13 wickets but will not be available as he is now on national duty.

Islamabad’s batting has revolved around Alex Hales (255 runs), Shadab Khan (232 runs) and Paul Stirling (187). However, Hales and Stirling will definitely not be available, while there is a question mark on Shadab Khan. This makes Azam Khan the only in-form batter with 228 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 143.

In the bowling, Shadab Khan leads the pack with 17 wickets, while Waqas Maqsood has picked up 11 wickets.

Salman Irshad is Peshawar Zalmi’s most successful bowler with 12 wickets, followed by Wahab Riaz (nine wickets) and Usman Qadir (eight wickets), while Shoaib Malik has been leading the batting responsibilities with 346 runs, followed by Ben Cutting (197 runs) and Hazratullah Zarzai (170 runs).

Fakhar or rizwan , personally I've gone for fakhar Zaman had my doubts over him recently but he has come back very well.

There’s only one guy that stood out the most, Shadab Khan.

If he hadn’t missed the last couple of games due to injury he probably would’ve made the top 5 in the batting list too.

Probably Fakhar Zaman, even with a couple of recent duds he's still on top of the run scoring chart with a century

Has to be Fakhar. He has amassed over 500 runs and scored at a T20 strike rate.

The same can not be said about others.

Would have been Shadab had he not picked up the injury. As of right now, Fakhar probably takes the award.

Rizwan is a good candidate for this award.

Fakhar hands down, highest ever runs in a single edition that too with a healthy strike rate.

Rizwan too has a chance if he wins the title. Although his SR isn't good but captaincy could play a role in deciding the player of the tournament.

2 man race between Fakhar and Rizwan but Shadab could be the dark horse here

I think it has to be between Fakhar and Rizwan if Shadab got to the final then I would have given it him.

Unfortunately for fast bowlers, T20 is become a batsmen's game. The viewers also want to see placid surfaces enabling all sort of tullaybazi. A fast bowler in T20 has to break his back to keep the opposition's score manageable. Afridi has done a great job for averaging around 20 with Econ of sub 8 which is awesome.

Top performers:

Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman is 15 runs away from becoming the first batter to post 600 runs in a HBL PSL season. The left-hander has so far tallied 585 runs (12 innings) at 48.75 and a strike-rate of 154.35. His tally includes one century and seven half-centuries.

Rizwan has led the Sultans from the front with 532 runs in 11 innings at a brilliant average of 76. The right-hander’s strike-rate is 126.96 and his runs tally includes seven fifties.

Shan Masood, the Sultans opener, is third on the run-getters list with 459 runs from 11 innings, while Qalandars second-best run-getter is Kamran Ghulam. His 284 runs places him at No.9 on the leading run-getters list.

Shaheen, like Rizwan, has led Qalandars from the front. The ICC Men’s Cricketer of 2021 has continued his rich vein of bowling form with 17 wickets from 12 matches (21.41 average, 7.58 economy), which has put him at number-two on the bowling charts behind Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan.

Sultans’ all-rounder Khushdil Shah has remained the surprise package with the ball in the tournament. The left-arm-spinner has time and again taken crucial wickets for his side and has collected 16 wickets in 11 games at 12.31 and an economy rate of 6.71

Imran Tahir and Shahnawaz Dahani, Best Bowler of HBL PSL 2021, have also taken 16 wickets each at 17.25 and 18.87 respectively.

Qalandars’ emerging pick Zaman Khan has been one of the finds of the tournament, the right-arm fast has collected 16 wickets in 12 outings at 22.56.

Surprised that no one is mentioning Khushdil Shah. He's been performing with the ball, contributed with the bat in some wins and has been excellent in the field

Perhaps Shadab Khan, he would have certainly had Wasim jnr didn't use his brains in the last over and lost the match. If not Shadab then certainly Fakhar.

This makes no sense

Even in the Multan side, Khushdil Shah was more deserving.

The player of the tournament had to be Fakhar Zaman!

This reminds me of FIFA awarding Messi the 2014 player of the tournament in the World Cup.

Even Rana admits that Rizwan is equivalent to Messi in cricket.. well said bro

:)

Just seems like Rizwan is flavour of the month these days His on field antics and gimmicks are working .

It should have been Fakhar zaman , gun batting all throughout the tournament and whilst he had a rare fail today in a final he still contributed in the field . But he’s a quite guy who just gets on with the job , and therefore went under the radar .

Even the MVP ratings had Fakhar on top for the whole series .

I agree I would have given it Fakhar if I had to choose between the two for this tournament.
