I never thought I would be typing this, but Pakistan is the first team through to the T20 World Cup Final.

The other semi-final is of course tomorrow between India and England, both high-quality and strong teams.

However who do you think Pakistan would prefer to meet in the final and why?

England because India has a wood over Pakistan in World Cups and World T20.

On other hand, England's bogey team, if there is any, that's Pakistan.

India, This Pakistan team is more comfortable against India, especially at a big stage, they don't crumble under pressure like their predecessors and would definitely bring their A game against India.

Even the first match Pakistan lost, it was through narrowest margins, I wouldn't expect India to pull out such a win again. Bring on India and let's settle some scores.

I think Pakistan will prefer India, NOT because India are weaker, but because Pak are highly confident atm and they would love to beat India to win a WC, that will be HUGE for Pakistan and it will erase a lot of bad WC memories for them. Also the likelihood of winning against India now (after losing the 1st game) is higher.

So in my view, Pak will definitely prefer India.

India has a wood over Pakistan in WCs but England has Mark Wood in their squad. :91: :inti

England are the preferred option, by a whisker.

Pakistan's current momentum would go out of the window if it were India. It'd come down to mental strength and ability to handle the pressure on the day, which is where India come up trumps. wouldn't be surprised if Kohli or Sharma stepped up and guided India home.

England on the other hand, like Pakistan, struggle under pressure. On paper they have a solid, expansive batting lineup that would enjoy the conditions down in Melbourne. However they haven't fired this tournament, coupled with our current momentum we may have just enough firepower to turn them over.
May be just may be it's written in the stars for Pak.

Anyone we are only interested in the cup
Doesn't matter if its india or England we are ready for both....

Pakistan will prefer India, as India have looked nervous against Pakistan in last 4 games.

But, I think it's gonna be Eng vs Pak

I want to play India and if i could choose i would absolutely snap it up.

We have a good side. This is not the time to be worried about their record over us or losing to them in the final.

I believe we can make traumatic memories for our respected rivals :))

India as their bowling will be easier for Pakistanis, no express fast bowlers like Woods, or even difficult to hit bowlers like Curran. England batting also does better against Pakistan than India's, exception being Kohli.

India fast bowling has perform outstandingly in Melbourne especially in powerplay. They will trouble Pakistan batting more than england fast bowling

If RizBabar play another gem and survive the PP then Pakistan can handle the rest of bowlers, unless they gift Pandya wickets on short bowls.

It's a tough call, I'll say England just because our head will be clear. Like it was today against NZ. India is a great team but I feel we are better in this tourney, however the pressure always gets to us against them.

Pretty sure India won't be at 40-4 after 10 overs once again. It would be a great final at the G If India win tomorrow.

Pakistan will easily prefer India. England will wipe the floor with Pakistan.

India are not playing well and their bowling is weak as hell. In batting also, openers are a flop and it is all up to Kohli and SKY.

I say, if India is in the finals, Pakistan will have no difficulty in dismantling India.

I would say England for a repeat of 1992, again India have a physiological edge over us in WC, but then we have beaten them in a ICC event final. So, touch choice but maybe England for a repeat of 1992.

Easy answer, India , more than likely we will beat them in final. Against England, my bet would be on England.

But India can't beat England, sadly.

The team should be fine with either of them. England, they've played them a good bit recently and the mental block against India has finished. Recent matches with India have been mostly well-fought 50/50 encounters. I felt like we had the last one in the bag too if not for that Kohli special.

Hype wise, it has to be India. It would be great if we can beat them in a final, get back at them for 2007, but you also have to be mentally prepared for the pain of a defeat :misbah2

England- the hype is too much if its India. The heart can't take a defeat to them let alone a WC Final defeat to them.

India. England is too strong, any one batsman can turn the game on its head. England is also much superior fielding side. India may give one or two chances in the field.

India, obviously. Very clear weaknesses that Pakistsn can exploit. An England side with a fit Mark Wood and their batting lineup would be favourites against Pakistan .

Obviously India because England is a powerful team , can blow anyone away in this format .

Pakistan should prepare to face England & win it the hard way .

When you play final , and want to win it , opposition should not matter , you should be readdy for anyone or anything.

England has a strong opening pair and some dangerous batting wildcards like Livingstone, Brook who are kind of guys who scare Pak bowlers if they get on a roll

But honestly, Pak will fancy their chances against Eng bowling with Wood injured. Jordan, Curran, Rashid, Moeen hold no terrors.

It really doesn’t matter who we play

We could play the best XI from a combined India and England

We will beat them.

I just know this team. I know when they are in this momentum. You can’t stop Pakistan now.

I want to say England, but I just think that's purely because Pakistan's record against England in major tournaments is much better historically. England are probably the harder team on paper than India.

2017 CT, 2021 WC and even the group stage loss this year kinda point towards Pakistan having a pretty favourable match-up vs India in recent times so long as they don't choke, which is the biggest issue here. However overall, it's still 2-2 including the 2019 WC so it's hard to say.

Pakistan should prefer England. India is a dangerous side with lots of match winners.

Rain.

We've had a lot of fun and I don't want it to end without a trophy.

I would prefer India - simply because we know what to expect from them.

Call me old fashioned but I still think to become the best you have to beat the best.

So naturally I prefer facing India :)

But are they best lost to SA who middling team like Pakistan and associate team Netherland beat, and just beat Pakistan on basis of Nawaz bowling a no ball and couple of wides. No doubt they are much better team than Pakistan, but not sure they are better than England.

And England are not?

Personally prefer india. Openers and finishers out of form. Bowling not good outside of swinging conditions and that too initial overs only.

India fast bowling has perform outstandingly in Melbourne especially in powerplay. They will trouble Pakistan batting more than england fast bowling

Only in first few overs. Outside of that, even weak BD batsmen hit them all over the park. Without bumrah, india bowling attack isn't dangerous.

India has beaten England 4 back to back T20 series 2 home 2 away. Most recently India beat ther full strength batting line up. In one match Pandya bounced out England middle order. In another match Bhuvi ran through them along with Bhumrah. Having said that. This is not the same composition they played. Hooda was batting at 3 taking on Moeen Ali. Ravindra Jadeja provided finishing kick. Bumrah was miserly. Chahal played in all matches. Also harshal shared some overs. Now No Bumrah. No Jadeja Most likely No Chahal due to offset batting depth No Hooda. India has totally messed up the balance

In a 5 plus team tournament (be it is ODI or test championship or T20) India has never lost at the MCG

Should India go through and lose this will be the first time.

India do seem to have something of a hold in Australia. Not quite as extreme as Pak in the UAE, but they certainly perform consistently better down under than other countries do.

If Sunday brings a true Australian surface then i think India are favourites by a whisker.

For the sheer spectacle of it , India vs Pak all the way. Hayden said the same. Nothing like it with 100k fans packed in at the MCG! But I think Eng will easily beat India. Eng is the most aggressive T20 team and they make T20 very entertaining.

That is the biggest obstacle. Those beasts can just mistime the ball for sixes over short boundaries. I am kinda worried about Moeen Ali for some reason.

Doesn't matter, if you deserve to win the WC, you should be ready for any opponent.

India.

In the end, it's all about entertainment and it doesn't get better than that.

Shoaib Akhtar on TV:

“I want a rematch between India and Pakistan. But I think Pakistan will repeat history in 2022. Jaise 1992 ka World Cup jeetey they, New Zealand ko harakey final mein phochey they, waise he mujhey lagta hai England India ko phainta lagakey, wo phoch jayga final mein, aur phir hum unko harakey World Cup leke wapis ajayngey. (I do want a rematch between India and Pakistan but I think history will repeat itself in 2022. Like how Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup, by defeating New Zealand to enter the final, England will beat India to enter the summit clash. And then we (Pakistan team) will beat England in the final to take home the World Cup trophy)"

The former Pakistani pacer and full-time cricket pundit also asserted that England will crush Team India if the Buttler-led side ended up batting second in the second semi-final. "India chase krega (Team India would like to chase in the semi-final). England also somehow suffer from pressure. I reckon England batting second will destroy India, whoever chases it, I don't know, I think it will be much easier to win the game. Isme sabsey zyada maza kisko ayga - ICC aur broadcaster ko! (This match will be treat for ICC and the official broadcaster of the World Cup),"

A victory over India in the finals would neutralise a lot of negative WC memories for Pakistani fans.

Final will be Pak vs ENG .While Eng are strong T20 side, they are a historically weaker team compared to Pakistan. Even during relatively leaner patch Pakistan beats England , this Pakistan on the other hand is a very well balanced T20 side with strong all round bowling and really balanced batting line up with solid openers and hitters in the middle.

Sunny is saying (in jest) if Pakistan wins this event Babar will be Pakistan PM in 2048!

Bogey team?
based on?:yk3

Based on the results when these two teams played against each other in World Cups or Knockouts.

Some examples in recent times are : CT'17 Semis, WC'19( inspite of England being such a strong team and favourites) and if you go historically then 1992 was when it started off.

Just got schooled by an Indian friend.

Told him we don’t want to face India in the finals because they beat us in world cups more often than not.

He told me have faith in your team. It is an excellent team. Peaking at the right timer too. Also being a cricket fan, an India Pakistan final is the pinnacle for a fan so why hope for something else? Also that it is a final. You have made out this far, even if you lose, you are the top 2 so why not relax.

All in all, he didn’t understand why I would be nervous.

It seem I was right to rate England bowling higher, or is it England batsmen just too good for this format.

Preferred England as Pak usually bottle it against India. After this, not so sure now, at least we still had a chance against India. :))

Its actually Indian openers that have led the team down, but England apart the openers have not been that hood generally for all teams.

Pakistan to take on much much stronger Eng side, Pre tournament favourites Eng in red hot form

I think England are a better team than India in T20.

So, Pakistan have a harder job now. But, Pakistan are still favorites due to momentum.

England is predictable. Pakistan is unpredictable. England is full of Goliaths that need our Davids to put their entire cricketing past and future into one game.

India was more human, more beatable. The happiness of India being knocked out will lose its flavor if we get dominated by England which has an 80% chance of happening.

That performance today from England will have been an eye-opener for Pakistan but on the other hand England know that Pakistan's bowling attack is on a different level to India's.

Set up for a great match, weather permitting.

I would have preferred ind because they were the weaker team and Pak only lost to the them because of bad captaincy.

Facing England is like going up against the navy seals while just being armed with sticks and stones. Their firepower in T20 Cricket is scary.
