Who would win a Test series between England and Pakistan in Australia?

If England and Pakistan clashed against each other in a test series in Australia, who would come out on top?
 
For sure England

They will still feel at home. Pakistan cannot handle the Australian environment
 
Pakistan.
Hasan and Shaheen will blow current English batting away. With not much speed and bounce generated by English pacers, and no swing available Pakistan batters will make merry.
Only weak link could be a good spinner, but Sajid Khan can support the Pakistan pacers or Nauman can play holding role.
 
Lazy and negative punditry to assume Pak would lose to England in Aus merely due to their record there.
Fact is - England are appalling. Shaheen against Burns and Hameed on helpful tracks?
Look at England’s bowling!

If you analyse using cricket logic not stats - Pakistan have a great chance.
 
England will walk it. Our batsmen would keep nicking it to the keeper being bowled out for 120. England would easily bounce us out without any problems.
 
Interesting. I'd back England to edge it. I don't think Pakistan can handle Ollie, Jimmy and Broad.
 
England have the players for Australia, they just have this mental block I think. And under Root it's even more evident that they are soft.

I don't care for sledging but even cricket-wise there is simply no fight. It's as if they have resigned to the fact that they can't beat Aus in Aus and Ind in Ind once things go south.

It happened in India early this year. We went to Ahmedabad 1-1, but England played like a side that was resigned to the fact that on a turning pitch they got no chance and simply went through the motions.

Back to the question, since I feel it's mental thing and not conditions hurting England in Ashes. They should easily beat Pak. As Pak find it harder with bounce, than swing/seam actually.
 
The record can't be more telling. England with tall bowlers like Broad, Robinson and pace of Wood/Archer. Pak got no chance.

They might make it interesting purely because of their bowling but I am not sure if Shaheen and Hasan Ali will have same impact, many great attacks have come to Aus and found wicket-taking hard.
 
This would actually be a competitive series. Over 3 Tests, it would probably be a tight and exciting spectacle with very fine margins. 2-1 either way.
 
Across various conditions,

Australian conditions -> Aus > India > SA>>>> Eng= NZ> Pak

England conditions -> Aus= IND=PaK = NZ

Subcontinent -> IND> PAk> Aus > Eng= NZ
 
Depends on a lot of factors like venues, pitch/conditions and England's team selection.

Pakistan probably has best chance at Sydney, where it is pretty flat (subcon style with not much of pace and bounce) on the first few days and assists spinners towards the end.

England will probably win at venues like Adelaide (pink ball) and Hobart due to their superior seam attack. At Gabba and Perth, they can win if they pick Archer, and Wood/Stone/Saqib. MCG could go either way..

Hope we have test match tri series in the future to see such neutral games with interesting match ups. An India vs NZ test at Melbourne will most probably draw more crowds than it does in Mumbai and a Pak vs Australia Test at Edgebaston will probably draw as many as it would have done in karachi..
 
It will be a good contest. I think Eng will edge it.
 
Pakistan wont beat England in any of the SENA countries. Pakistan haven't won a single test match in SNA for the last decade and England were dominating PAK in England last year.

Will be more of a contest in Asia/WI

Two of the matches were marred by bad weather, while Pakistan threw away a win in the first Test due to a mix of poor captaincy and brainless bowling across an hour and a half.

Doubt there's much difference between England's bad performances in New Zealand and Australia over the past few tours and Pakistan's ineptitude.

Correction. Pakistan have won 4 tests in SENA since 2011.
 
Usually I'd give the edge to England but this English batting lineup is beyond pathetic. Root is carrying this team on his shoulders like Titan Atlas. Very very tough to call, I think Pak batsmen are better in Aus conditions but English bowlers bowl the better lengths. Easier for Pak bowlers to get their lengths right, there is ability there. But serious lack of ability in English batting.
 
I would think if England have the services of a fit Jofra Archer, Wood and the likes of Robinson/Stone/Mahmood, England would be favourites but Pakistan can fancy their chances against a medium pace bowling attack of Anderson, Broad, Woakes or even Robinson for that matter, as except the day night matches, that attack would be too slow to cause major issues to any batting line up in Australia.
 
Different format but last time England and Pakistan played a world cup final at the MCG and we know how that turned out :ik
 
England's batting is currently Root or bust, Pakistan have Babar, Azhar Ali who averaged 50+ in Aus (much older now but better than nay other English batter), Abid Ali coming along nicely, Rizwan who is handy lower down the order.

England's bowling is just atrocious, dibbly dobblers who only do well if the sky is grey...honestly it's just so poor. Jimmy in a 15 year career has had, what is it, one good series down under? Babar would end his career like he did to Steyn. Archer, if fit might be a factor but I'm not sure, Aussie pitches aren't exactly wrecking machines and are pretty flat these days, so Pak's batting could have a tonne of runs.

Add to that Shaheen, Hasan and whoever is 3rd bowling pretty well, with a couple of solid spin options.

I could see Pak winning 2-1 if it was 3 tests.
 
Pakistan will start as favourites imo

Pakistan at least batted well in Australia though their bowling was embarrassing

England were poor in both the departments

That is certainly a relevant example to quote because the players who played in that match are still playing.
 
If England’s bowling is bad in Australia, Pakistan’s bowling is minnow-level. Batting-wise there isn’t much difference between the two sides right now, so England will have the upper-hand.
 
England should start as favorites. For some reasons, Pakistani bowlers don't know how to take 20 wickets in Australia.
 
Pakistan is still a low tier team. Some good performances against minnows doesn't change that fact. Remember, nobody like Zack Crawley scored almost 300 against Pakistanis.
England will beat Pakistan anywhere in the world except Asia where it is 60:40 in favour of Pakistan.

In the last 3 series we draw against England in England twice
Whilst England lost both series in asain conditions.

Maybe England are the minnows?

We can't rely on any fast bowler except Shaheen in Australian conditions. Hassan is already a bit of a spray gun and his short and skiddy style likely won't be effective in Australian conditions. We have more bowlers with potential but not much else. England's bowling may be mediocre for bowling down under but still a full league ahead of Pakistan.

Batting, surprisingly, may be where Pakistan can outperform England but they are pretty much comparable.

I'd say a comfortable enough series win for England.
 
ENG without a doubt. Pakistan's bowling is toothless in Australian conditions and our batsmen can't handle the extra bounce.
In fact, ENG would beat Pakistan easily anywhere in the world except maybe in Pakistan or UAE.

England Don't have someone baring Archer who can use the bounce to his advantage.

Pakistan draw against England in England in the last 2 series.
 
Pakistan and England should hold their next series in Australia. That's the only way one of them is winning in Australia.
