Who would you like to see as captain of Pakistan instead of Sarfaraz Ahmed?

Okay we know he is struggling with his batting and may be he has a fitness issue whatever. This guy receives too much hate among Pakistan fans so my question is who do you think can perform better than Sarfaraz if you have to pick one of the under mentioned players?

  • Imad Wasim
  • Shoaib Malik
  • Mohammad Hafeez
  • Imam ul Haque
  • Mohammad Amir
 
Sarfraz is terrible right now. He looks depressed and under huge pressure. Even in captains meetings and public gatherings he just looks like someone who isn’t really happy about being there. It just seems wrong. Pakistan are a popular cricket nation. Of all the teams they should not have such a life less leader. Even in your worst phases you had characters like Afridi, Misbah.

Right now i would do what South Africa did in 2003. Name a young captain.

Bobby is too timid though and there is no other young batsman who’s secured his place yet.

I think I will make Shadab Khan the captain and see how he handles it.

Babar is not fearless cricketer rather a selfish one. It should be Shadab. Guy is not afraid to toss it up to the likes of Pandiya & Maxwell despite having being smoked for three gigantic sixes.
 
No way Imad or Imam . I would go for Wahab Riaz . We need a n aggressive captain .
 
Only an idiot talks about changing the captain in the middle of a WC!
 
Imam has what it takes to be a captain. He thrives when put under the pump. I feel he can turn this team around for better since most of the players can play next wc as well.
 
There is no point changing the captain now that the worldcup has started. Let Sarfraz be.

As for after the world cup we will first have to see whether Hafeez, Imad wasim, Imam and yes even Amir deserve a place in the team to begin with or not.
 
Malik should be ruled out from the OP as he is retiring anyway

The captain should be someone that deserves the team on merit, so that makes:

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Hafeez
Shadab
 
All of these options are useless. If Pakistan cricket really wants to pull a wild card out of their bags and go with it then Shan Masood is probably the only choice with Imam or Shadab as deputy.

Imad has shown time and time again that he’s absent when the heat is on. Amir has not stepped up when required and let’s not talk about players who should be booted out after this WC
 
Shan Masood.

Pakistan cricket has to start its long and difficult journey towards professionalism and it can only be achieved if the captain is a thorough professional. I know Shan hasn't played many games of late but he is the best candidate for the role to change the culture of the team so that 5 years from now we are competitive again.

If people think Pakistan will become competitive overnight then they are very wrong. The only thing that can make Pakistan competitive is consistent selections, professionalism, no deadwoods in team, and invest in players who are willing to learn at international stage rather than Akmals
 
Mo Amir for LO, Shan Masood for Test; Babar deputy for both.

It’ll happen eventually, at least the Amir part, but it’ll take few more such “runs”, and by that time Captain Amir will also be specialist Captain.
 
Fakhar Zaman post World Cup. He has experience as a captain in domestic cricket and he was pretty good. And at least he actually makes the team on merit.
 
People saying Imad, Shan etc should realize it would be the same mistake as we did with Azhar Ali in ODIs and Sarfaraz and that is to appoint a captain who himself isnt a performer.

In ODIs it can be one of Babar or Fakhar as they both are performers for 2,3 years now and we dont have much experienced players otherwise, if we want a bowling captain Amir has the experience and atleast can keep it tight even on his worst days. So these three atleast have the ability to perform themselves and inspire other.

In tests it should be one of Amir or Azhar Ali and eventually Babar can take over.

Its a shame Babar and Amir are not leading much in PSL or other domestic tournaments.
 
I would love Babar or Fakhar since i prefer a captain who performs and leads by example.

But i still think there is no other player besides Sarfraz who has an idea on how to captain a team. Maybe we’ll have to stick with Sarfraz for a while until someone develops leadership qualities.
 
Imam is the obvious choice

Amir? Puh-lees. Hes past it. Hes a trundler now so how will he bowl in the next World Cup. Need to invest in other bowlers.

Imad? Puh-lees. He is not even a mainstay in the team. Hit and miss. Only suitable on certain. We do not want another non performing captain.

Babar? Puh-lees. Timid character. No personality. Not captaincy material. Needs to just focus on his batting
 
Anyone who deserves to be part of 15 members squad on merit will already be a great start. I don't think on current form and captaincy level anyone will do worst than what Sarfraz is doing he is clueless out there. His batting and wicketkeeping skills are questionable his fitness looks very bad, and then he ends up making stupid remarks behind the stumps already, which explains his level of intelligence.
 
I've noticed low-key people have started to rate Imam after his celebration

Tell Babar to grow a back bone take some responsibility and develop a personality.
 
As long as they make the team on merit and do their job it doesn't matter who.

Certain posters on here just want you to name a player so if they fail they can mock you and score points lol. If someone is doing their job they need to be replaced. A new captain won't turn out fortunes around but Sarfraz isn't doing his job so he needs to be replaced. He doesn't make the team on merit, so even if he wasnt captain he would need to be replaced.

Babar,Fakhar ,and Amir are contenders. But due to Amir past , I don't want him to be made captain.
 
Babar and Imam are the only two genuine contenders, and one of them will be leading Pakistan in 2023.

Imad: is garbage himself, barely performs
Malik and Hafeez are over 40 now
Imam: is criticised every game right now, being captain would add to the toxic reaction
Amir: only if he performs, which he hasn't done and in Tests he's completely useless

Amir has been one of our best bowlers in test cricket.
 
It’s too early to consider Shan as test Captain. He may have been the best batsman in SA but we don’t know how will he perform in other conditions such as the subcontinent.

This is probably legit because I know this happened in the last CT for the opening game, when Inzy wanted Shehzad opening the bat instead of Fakhar and Wahab bowling instead of Junaid. Little do posters know about his dictatorship influence.

A friend of mine met Mushtaq Ahmed a few years ago and he asked him of his opinion of Inzy. Without going into all the details, Mushy described him as a “politician”.

Shan Masood should be the choice. He comes across as someone who is intelligent, has got a good personality and is a hard worker in addition to being the right age. I feel he needs one good innings in odis to stamp his claim. He already looked solid in all the innings he played recently.

You're looking confused in your own statement. Talking about performing captain and then suggesting Azhar and amir for test

Harris is injury prone, Shadab/Imad/shan are not automatic selection.

It can either be Babar or Imam, i will probably go with imam in test and onedayers and shadab for 20/20.
 
I will make Babar Azam captain in all three formats after the world cup if I had the choice. Enough of these captains that are not even sure of their own place in the team.
 
Nobody can even name a sure pick except for Babar, so how are you supposed to select a captain out of this sorry bunch?

Babar might be the least captain material out of all of them, not to mention we can't risk what it might do to his batting.

I would give LOI captaincy to Malik with the intention of grooming a successor for his retirement. This batch of players needs a couple more years to develop and the deadwood needs clearing out.

As far as I my preference is concerned, i'd rather have a strong tactician standing near the boundary and blaring the field change instructions on a megaphone instead of leaving such decisions on this brain dead lot of selfish morons.
 
I don’t recall any time in our history where we would scratch our heads for a suitable captaincy candidate. Honestly, I dont see anyone better than Sarfaraz and yes he is terrible and looks too too much under pressure.
But ... you can’t pick malik or Hafeez... they had their shot. Why go back to a tested failure?
Fakhar is not a good choice because he is a haberdasher.
Imam is a pee aay arr see aech eye.

Babar is too young
Amir is too.. well Amir..
Shadab is also too young.
See where I am going with this?
On paper none of them looks better than Sarfaraz.
 
Unless we win the WC, Sarf won't be the captain post-WC so its better to start looking for alternates now.


Sad part is there is no natural leader. I just hope they don't make the same mistake as they did with Azhar Ali and make a pathetic player who wasn't even worthy of being in the side as the captain for two damn years just on Misbah the saviour's recommendation.

Imad Wasim is the only one in the present squad who has previous captaincy credentials but he himself is a bits and pieces player and wouldn't be much of an upgrade over Sarfaraz. Babar is meek and zero personality and successfully captained Pakistan to their worst ever finish in u19 WC despite having a stellar squad (6-7 of them have made it to international cricket). Imam is the P_____ and I don't see him surviving much longer after Inzi leaves. Fakhar did well in one Pakistan Cup when he was captain, but he blows hot and cold with the bat and with the technique he has got he will often go entire series with a respectable score. Tough situation.

Sarfraz Is out After The WC So Is Hafeez And Malik.
Babar Has Realistic Chance of Being a VC .
Imam and amir No chance (Controversial Choices Imam Nephew of Inzimam and Amir Has Spot Fixing Past)
Shaheen Too Young And inexperienced.
Hasan and shadab Jolly Not Captain material.
Fakhar Is The only Real Candidate At the moment.
Asad Shafiq as A test If Not Azhar Both Are Experienced . And Babar Should Be T20 Captain .he Is Really good in t20 and Will help him gain experience
 
How confident does one feel with him walking in at 3 down. No drives, not a good defence, risky airy fairy shots.
 
Is Sarfaraz doesn’t do well and he on the way out after the World Cup, we have a real problem on our hands. We may take the route of split captaincy.

This idea of replacing the captain in the hope it will somehow improve results is so desperate.
 
The only certainty in the ODI XI at the moment is Babar Azam. Rest of them are either too old or can be dropped.

On a serious note the only real contender in this team is Babar but i don't think he has it in him. The rest are not even assured of a place in the team let alone be appointed captain. Would be foolish to again appoint someone who doesn't even deserve to be in the team. A lot will depend on who performs during the WC.

To be honest he is not too bad a choice. He isn't innovative or even resolute like Misbah but he is the most sincere and unselfish player in the whole Pakistani setup.

Shadab khan don't deserve a palce in national team and you him to captain the team LOL what a joke one of the most hyped bits and pieces cricketer he is neither proper bowler or batsman just a overhyped player

LOL malik one of the worst player of pace bowling he himself don't deserve a place in the team he lose 3matches vs Australia and run away from the series one of the worst player who is still not retired
