There's been plenty of criticism of the captains so far, but how do you rate the 6 captains at this year's PSL? Who has been the best captain, your thoughts on how the captains have lead their teams?

Probably Sarfraz. My only criticism is picking Sohail over Anwar.

Sammy is decent but hasn’t shown his own personal utility yet.

All are extremely average baring may be sarfraz .imad should be definitely worse captain

Masood and Saifi are good and then there is massive daylight followed by the rest. Imad, Shadab and Sohail are fighting and falling over each other to claim the worst captain's slot

I think Sarfaraz, Shan and Sammy have been decent. Sammy might not be a popular choice now a days but I like the way he interacts with his players, there is a reason guy has won so many tournaments including two T20 WCs. Yes Sammy is on his last legs but still as a captain he has been decent.

Masood is a good mature cricketer, I like his demeanor, very calm and composed. It has had a soothing effect on Multan team. They never looked rattled even when they were 40/4 against Zalmis

He should be considered for test captaincy as Azhar is not going to get any better.

Shan Masood has been impressive. As much as I despise Sarfraz he is doing a good job too. Sammy is past it. Imad is doing poor under pressure. Shadab has done okay. He is willing to take responsibility on. He isn't hiding. Can't expect a 21 year old to be perfect tactically as he doesn't even know his own game fully yet.

I've not been overly impressed with any of them so far really.

Most of the tactics have been predictable, selections not great and not much innovation.

100% agreed.

PSL = Poor Skippers League

Has to be Sarfraz and Masood.

And then comes Shadab

And then Sammy, Imad and Sohail Akhtar.

If we go by points that his team has at the moment, it may well be Shan!

Sarfaraz no sign with the bat today.

Team needed him.

Wonder if he's injured or hiding.

Don’t think he is hiding. He gave all the hitters in the team a chance as the target was a huge one. No one took the responsibility apart from Watson. That was good captaincy actually.

The team needed sloggers, not strokemakers. Sarfaraz can’t bat at a SR of 220 even if his life depended on it. He made a smart decision. No one is hiding.

I'd want to see my skipper leading from the front not sat in the dressing room for most of the innings.

One can be 'seen to be leading' i.e. try to 'demonstrate leadership' for the public or make the most pragmatic and effective choice. Anwar Ali and Azam Khan are definitely more effective hitters than Sarf.

Sarfaraz has been in good form at the PSL. He's been going in at 4. I would have liked him to have done the same against Multan. From there he could have controlled the chase.

My overwhelming vote will be Masood.

At the start of PSL5, I wonder how many gave MS any chance what do ever - at half way stage, they are standalone leader on the table and lots of credit should go to their skipper.

Not only he led the side well, raised his own game as well and his on-field presence is distinguishable.

Shan has been the best captain. I didn't think MS would do anything in this tournament.

I wouldn't want him to captain in LO as I don't think he is a long term LO option.

But if PCB were not going to make Babar captain in tests, they should have gone with Shan over Azhar Ali.

It has to be either Shadab or Sarfaraz.

Didn't find Shan anything special. Multan is winning due to having some great players.

Shan Masood has used the data well that has been provided to him

He is showing the PCB so far that an intelligent man can lead the side well if he is provided good intel by the management behind him. Ali Tareen is a serious franchise owner!

Safraz, Shan and Shadab have all done a good job. You can go in either direction, probably Sarfraz for me, once again doing the most with the least.

On the flip side, Insecure Imad has pretty clearly been the worst captain.

Shan Masood for me, very smart while setting fields, bowling changes and putting pressures on oppositions:)

Between Shan and Shadab we have found two potential captains for Tests and LOIs respectively.

Easy to look like a great captain against Lahore.

Pathetic from Shady to come in at #3 while neither Rizwan or Talat batted in the top 4.

Should be nowhere near international captaincy...

If Multan win PSL5 then appoint Shan Masood as captain of Pakistan National team in all 3 formats.

Here is my ranking

1-Masood
2-Imad
3-Shadab
4-Sami
5-Sarfraz
6-Sohail :

Sohail Akthar shouldn't even be in the poll :)))

I would say I've been impressed by Shan Masood

Both Shan and Imad I think have done well so far.

i remember massod was being mooted as a captain post Misbah and he was absolutely ridiculed on this forum, good to see he has turned some of the doubters around.

Imad Wasim seems better than the others

Not at all - Imad as a captain has been mediocre, as a player he has been excellent.
Karachi having the best talent is what makes his captaincy look good.

Babar, Hales, Sharjeel, Delport, Ifti, Imad, Umer, Amir, Jordan... no one else has such a complete team

Sarfaraz Ahmed the clear leader at the moment even though Gladiators are not in great shape.

If leading from front is a criteria then Shadab must be leading!

Shadab did pretty well today leading from the front with the bat. Can improve tactically and in terms of decision-making, though.

So far Masood , Imam and Riaz are doing good job , other three are not . Shadab performing better as a player but looks confused when facing a tough situation in the field . His bowling changes and field placing is not good , cost his team today’s game . He is young and hopefully will learn but not a good captain ATM .

Madness from Akhtar to let Shaheen bowl the last delivery when he was clearly hurting

Shan Masood has been the best captain thus far and it shows in Multan's top-ranked position on the points table.

Shan has three data analysts telling him exactly who to bowl against who and what field placements to set. No other team has as big of a data analysis culture as multan. In my opinion, Shan is doing very well on the man management front, but we still don’t know how he would solve different cricketing problems if the bowling changes were completely up to him.

He’s the most successful captain, yes. Doesn’t mean he’s the best one.

My personal ranking is
Imad (really upped his game with the bat, excellent man management skills, he’s the one responsible for giving Sharjeel confidence if you watch Sharjeel’s post match interview, and while his field placements have been criticized I think they have been minor issues, especially if you note things like Aamer Yamin getting injured and being forced to feed spinners to the first Lahore match).
Shan (for reasons mentioned above, but doesn’t take top spot simply because he doesn’t deserve 100% of the credit)
Shadab (taken on a new energy, one of the highest scorers of this psl and truly leading from the front. Fielding/bowling changes have been decent. Some of “his decisions” are actually Misbah’s, so again doesn’t get full credit, but has done quite well)
Wahab
Sammy
Sarfaraz
Sohail (clueless fielding changes and wasting bowlers, didn’t properly utilize Rauf at the death at the start of the tournament before realizing how this was going wrong. Simply had to look to BBL to understand how to utilize him. Gave Shaheen two more balls to complete his over last night against Karachi when Shaheens thumb was hurting. Let’s the other team regain momentum at crucial moments by releasing the pressure and feeding Davis Wiese’s medium pace at wrong points in the innings. While he leads from the front batting, he goes lower than Sarfaraz for all of these reasons).

I thought Sarfaraz was poor.

He was like what he was for Pakistan before he was sacked.

Dropped shoulders, lethargic, lacking leadership, hiding at key moments.

Lol, i wonder now that he has been sacked as Pakistan Captain and dropped from the national side if he has given up on any aspirations on leading Pakistan ever again or even representing Pakistan ever again. In that situation players just go through the motions and have zero incentive to improve much knowing that they will always be picked by their domestic sides.

I mean look at Khurram Manzoor, the guy used to be slim and trim and now he has let himself go completely.

An year later... I think all we need just need is to rename the title to "worst captain at PSL 6". Pretty sure Sarfraz would still be leading the poll :sarf2 :21:
