"Why 40 lakh for Wasim Khan? Myself, Imran Nazir will fix domestic cricket for free": Tanvir Ahmed

Mamoon - The Board Chairman should be a figurehead whereas day to day operations are left in the hands of the Managing Director.

That's how it is in most countries. The MD should be organising series, overseeing the domestic structure etc.

Perhaps there was no one with similar qualification or experience in Pakistan.

Why do we buy medicines from abroad is everyone dead in Pakistan to make medicines? why do we go abroad for medical operation are all doctors dead in Pakistan? Why do we buy Iphone? are all phone makers dead in Pakistan? Wasim Khan is hired to implement a system that has not been implemented in Pakistan before so there is no one experienced enough to carry it out.

You answered your own question. People buy abroad because they don't trust the local merchandise, expertise or services.

Correct! Posters here needs to know a good businessman will always pay someone who can do the job properly than having someone one the cheap who will ruin the business.

Tanvir Ahmed is a clown. I have belief in Wasim Khan as he will deliver the goods. Who cares if it is 40 lacs? Businesses are all about generating value; if paying Khan 40 lac will get the job done then from a business perspective it is worth it.

People moan that PCB is run by unprofessional people. And when qualified professional people are brought in, they moan about their salary.

You get what you pay for. Look at the salaries of CEO's of all the cricket boards, you morons.

Rahul Dravid as the coach and chief selector of the Indian U-19 and A team is getting INR 4 million a month plus other perks and benefits. Pakistan in comparison is paying Wasim Khan PKR 4 million in total for a CEO role. I think the price is perfectly worth it if the benefits and value Wasim Khan provides to PCB and Pakistan Cricket is worth PKR 40-50 billion plus if not more. He is here for a high profile role and will be held accountable against some very tough deliverable s

Mamoon has made a name of himself for criticising Pakistan as a country, it's institutions, the people, the politicians, just about anyone and anything associated with the nation.

Yet as soon as a qualified British Pakistani from abroad is hired to oversee the domestic structure, he starts complaining that local Pakistanis themselves should have been given the job! :91:

I am scratching my head here because a few months ago he criticized NR Pakistani's for talking too much about loving the country, willing to offer their services to Pakistan and now refusing to come back to Pakistan now that the PTI is in power.

Now Wasim Khan has done exactly this and he is now criticizing his appointment as unnecessary and inefficient. Reeks of a small mind which can never be happy.

Abolishing departmental cricket is not feasible in Pakistan. It is the bread and butter of the domestic players and their main source of income. Unless the regional boards are able to pay them as much as departments, this idea will not work in the long-term.

Pakistan Cricket is not a welfare state. There are probably 3000-5000 cricketers in the system, a lot of them are mediocre, over aged, have zero chance of ever playing for Pakistan, they need to be weeded out and they should learn, develop alternative skills or find other ways of making a living.

The best thing is to do is to compress the no of cricketers in the system and encourage more quality. Besides the talk of departments being beneficial and high quality is over stated, depts have been divesting their sports team as we have seen in UBL, ABL, HBL and the ones that are in place are only offering annual contracts and no longer offering permanent jobs to players as they used to in the 80's and 90's.

Besides the regional cricket structure IK talks about is misunderstood their will be bottom tier i.e. Clubs, Schools which will feed City teams and then the City teams will feed the regional teams. The excess players in the system will be given opportunities to become match referees, coaches, physiotherapists, umpires in this overall system so the whole concept of players losing their jobs is also being overstated.

It's contrarianism taken to an unreal level.

Sarfaraz Nawaz as made a name for himself doing this. I remember very clearly when he used to praise the PCB when he was running camps for them but the moment Sethi and Shahryar refused to extend his contract, he was back to ******** about the PCB and them in the media in a few weeks time.

I am disappointed. Sad. During our time the team clinched #1 position in all three formats of the game. Why dont PCB big wigs with fat salaries show leadership and sort out the problems?

Only if either of Imran Nazir or Tanvir Ahmed can read a single page of the book : Cat in the Hat. If yes, they should be given blanket authority to do whatever the HELL they want with Pakistan Cricket.

Wasim Khan stood to make 1 million pounds per year working for the ECB. Last i checked 1 pound is equivalent to 206 pounds. The PCB is paying him Pkr 48,000,000 a year which works out to approximately 232,500 pounds. Even ignoring taxes, Wasim Khan has compromised 767,500 pounds. People can't really complain

so is he expecting to make a comeback now in professional cricket if he still bowling in this age lol
Pakistan cricketers should extend their retirement age to 50 now, considering Misbah, wahab, Younis and many others take retirement leagues seriously lol

Guy ran out of gas after 5 Test matches

His cricinfo age says 45. So age fudging by 2 yrs.

Essentially tanveer debuted at 34 and played his last test at 37. He should get a geriatric award for his 5 tests service

You never hear these statements from people who actually work selflessly with or without compensation. These kind of statements are usually a red flag to not let such people in any position of power.

At his peak he was a very good domestic bowler who can seam the ball both ways around 136-142k through out the day , certainly far better than current unfit 4 day domestic pacers we have these days.
