Why are Indians so upset with English players leaving to play for their national team ahead of T20 World Cup 2024?

"Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram slammed England players for prioritizing the Pakistan series over the IPL, he said during an interview with a sports media outlet:

"If you cut salaries, will it affect anything if your team doesn't win after reaching the playoffs? You've put in all the hard work and in the last hurdle, your boys leave because they have to play for the country. It's not fair."

"So, I agree with Irfan [Pathan], come for the entire tournament or don't come at all."

After the first T20I between England and Pakistan was abandoned due to persistent rain at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, England captain Jos Buttler said in a post-match interview with a local sports channel:

"My personal opinion is there should never be any international cricket that clashes with the IPL. But my first priority at the moment is being England captain and trying to prepare as best we can for a world tournament. I've always said to Keysy [Director of cricket, Rob Key] I would definitely be coming back as England captain. He's made the call on the rest of the players."
