Why are Pakistan Tests more exciting than India Tests?

Seriously tho, Pak are mercurial and fun to watch. Players have more charisma. Team can win/lose against any* opposition.

*I read Irish are playing their 1st ever test game vs us. So you never know! :yk

I checked the actual numbers. It is a 600+ score in 6 out of the last 10 matches. SL (2/3), Australia (1/4), Bangladesh (1/1) and England (2/2).

I don't think there has every been such a 10 game streak by any other Test team in history with 6 600+ scores.

Here is the break down since Jan-2013 (Total 46 Tests played in this time frame) :

700s -- 1
600s -- 5+1
500s -- 5
400s -- 14 ( 10 out of the 14 were above 450 )
300s -- 10
200s -- 6
<200 -- 5

The Avg score (over these 46 Tests) is 403 despite there being a Washout after India bowled out SAF for 215 and were 80/0 on Day1 in B'luru.

BUMP.

Another 600+ total after bowling out SL cheaply for 205. Infact SL havent managed to score 610 runs in all the 4 inngs put together so far in this Series. Last time in SL 3 months ago ... India made 525 more runs in 2 less inngs than SL. Definitely boring for Non-Indians.

Iam however not complaining :)

SL and Pakistan tests were closely fought. Here it's one sided.

No one finds one sided tests interesting.

Is there any other team in history that has had so many 600+ scores over 10/12 matches? If not, this has to be a contender for the greatest batting unit in the history of Test cricket.

As work is taking up more of my time, my visits to PP are becoming rare.

I think we need to stay out of such hyperbole's. I understand that we have been scoring lots of runs recently but I would not go this far. We have played 5 tests against SL during that time also who have been struggling in world cricket.

Indian team recently have been pretty ruthless against teams which are inferior to them, which is the reason for this scenario. India did not give WI a chance in their 2-0 win last year while Pakistan lost a test at home (Neutral) and away against the same team. This the reason for Pakistan being more exciting than the Indians.

3 of the 7 600+ scores have been against Australia and England, with the highest one being against England 759/7d.

Still no. This is not even India's best batting unit. India's best was when the fab 4 along with Sehwag and Gambhir were playing. This team is good and we will know if they are better when we play overseas in the next year or so. I will agree with you if we continue this trend against SA, England and Australia and actually win games overseas. The reason why Australia was the best team was because they used to do it everywhere, not only at home. For now, I will just consider this as over the top statement as India have always batted well at home. Probably might have not scored 600's but have always scored heavily at home.

Yep ... link : http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...size=150;template=results;type=team;view=year

While that list aggregates by Calendar year it is very obvious that if you consider a 365 day period India has 7 such inngs.

BTW we are also 2nd only to aus in total 600+ inngs. ( 32 for Aus , 30 for Ind )

Great research, thanks :)

There are the expected complaints about India playing at home, but 7 600+ innings in the space of less than a year is stunning. Hope the players continue their momentum when they visit SA.
