Why can't Pakistan bowl with spinners in the first 10 overs during the 2019 World Cup?

Why not try one end with a spinner and one with Amir? As both wahab and hasan ali made sure we are tortured vs WI in last match and will continue this trend vs other teams...

We’ve had in the past with Imad a few times but he’s a one trick pony. It didn’t work. Hafeez can still open and be okay but he too can’t keep it flat without chucking.

Not a bad shout but in friendly conditions perhaps not wise then again when you're defending around 100 why not.....can't do the same thing again and again if its not working

If theres any seam on these rubbish kookaburra balls, it will only last for the first 5 - 10 overs. You got to let the pacers take advantage of it.

Yes but weve seen how it worked for SA vs Eng when imran tahir got Bairstow out first ball. Afghanistan applied same strategy vs Pak and worked. If the damage is not done in first few overs, we will be at the receiving end.

Why not try shadab against right hand batsmen and off spinners against left handed batsmen?

Yes but since its powerplay the batsmen know they can go hard against pacers with close fields, and we have seen how its resulted for us.

I think Sarfraz would have done it, had Pakistan something to defend.

There was no point with only 105 runs on the board.

Expect Sarfraz to open with Hafeez if Roy and Bairstow open for England on Monday.

He didn't want to give England the chance to see footage of Hafeez bowling to WI batsmen and giving them any idea.

I think he will copy Faf and open with Hafeez.

If they bowled with an upright seam and bowled relatively full at the stumps, they might find they get some movement with the new ball. They keep wasting it by bowling leg stump or short and wide.

Hafeez was going to open versus West Indies.

But when they only scored 105, that plan had to be scrapped.

Aha I see.. But I hope they try this strategy vs England as we are in desperate need of wickets else they will run away with it as we saw earlier in ODI series. Possibly if shadab can be tried too. Might work or backfire but worth a try IMO.

Why don't those morton journalist ask real questions like these at post match conferences, I want to understand why they wasted the new ball

We may as well do that in future games. Nothing to lose.

Shadab was a success today so we could see more of this.

Great tactics to open with Shadab. I had a feeling he'd get Roy. I believe this was Shadab's 2nd ODI vs England, his first was the CT semi-final, in which Roy didn't play. Facing a spinner for the first time is always hard so I knew Shadab would get Roy :) was saying it all along

U need a finger spinner really. It's harder for a league.
Sla to a rightie and rao to a lefty

I mentioned this strategy above before, and that plan worked :) no one is crediting me :(

I think we should try the same strategy tomorrow vs IND..We saw how Australia comfortably batted vs Shaheen and not Amir..

Im positive it will bring results inshaAllah

Kohli was weak against spin in IPL, and im sure with Amir at other end he will loose his wicket quick.. Also rohit and Rahul

Don't know if tommorow is the day to try this. If their is rain around, wouldn't want a spinner gripping a wet new ball.

Pakistan should play Harris , he can be used for couple of overs at the start. Better option than Malik.

COuld try it against SA or NZ. munro might be a casualty against spin earlier on.
