Why did Pakistan select four openers for the Australia Test series?

Seems pretty odd to select 4 openers .There is no middle order batsman to replace out of form haris sohail .abid ali is in the squad but he is also opener. I think one middle order batsmen should have been selected instead of 4 openers

Seems like the plan was to really have Azhar bat 3 and have 3 openers in sqaud. But then they have decided to have ifti in the side which forced Azhar to open.

But 100% agree we should have picked another middle order player in sqaud.

They should play imam ahead of haris sohail in the next match , may be at number 5. Send babar azam at number 3.

Plan was to have Azhar at 3

But Iftikhar got runs in tests so they drafted him in the test XI. To adjust him,one specialist batsman had to be dropped so Imam had to make way for him

Doesn't make sense opener playing at number 5 but now they have to change entire batting order due to negligence of misbah and azhar.

it was common sense to play Imam and abbas but they have made huge blunders typical pak...Bancroft was the best batter in both innings against in tour game yet he never got a game
