What's new

Why didn't IAF deploy LCA Tejas to intercept PAF, instead of MIG-21s and Su-30s?

Its a catch 22, If Indians keep their homemade tech their airforce won't last for long either
Everyone used to laugh at ISRO when their rockets used to fall like birds from sky back in 70's and 80's.

It took ISRO over decades to finally perfect their rocket technology. The will happen with Air craft tech too. Try till you succeed.

Next time Pakistani posters whine about Indian insensitive posters will just point to them this comment section about the Pilot

Guess its not just Indians that go to other news and forums

This is really sad behaviour , my first thought was a bright young person could be saved by little bit of better planning, its criminal, what happended and require proper inquiry after seeing the video.

We have been Inquiring since Rang De basanti.. its been 20 years

Pakistanis know very well they are third world, Indians tend to forget.

Once in a while, the delusion bubble bursts. Today the samosa didn’t fly; we all can very well guess that it’s the quintessential third world incompetence behind this loss of life. An accident yes but caused in all likelihood by criminal negligence.
India is 3rd world because of Over population. India is a 3.8 Trillion economy and growing.
Pakistan is 3rd world because of political structure. Pakistan is a fraction of India's economy and equally over populated.

I can see light at the end of the tunnel for India. Can't say the same with Pakistan.

Two totally different organisations, Defense makes money for corrupt folks, ISRO did well because at the helm were scientists not some random politicians.

I prefer trying to build home grown tech over buying from foreign sellers. At least the money stays in India and eventually they will succeed.
Addiction to foreign lenders will lead the country no where.

Yes so we shouldn’t even try? India does well when private organisations take up the task, we unfortunately lack when government dictates majority of a sector.

Building home with a government organisation for something that requires precision engineering will be similar to developing Ambassador car today

So sad to see this. Such an avoidable loss. Feel for his family. There should definitely be an investigation as to why he did not eject, most likely a technical issue as normally the moment a pilot loses control, they eject.

I agree on the indigenous development point but it should be strategic. You can’t develop/manufacture everything yourself but to be strategic about it. For example one thing Pakistan should definitely develop indigenously is conventional hypersonic missile technology as well as AD interceptors as we will need a lot of these in the wars to come and as a deterrent and so will cost a lot if procured from China or elsewhere.

Indians really need to stop using indigenous development as a shield. Just acknowledge that the Tejas program isn’t delivering, scrap it, and start fresh. India has the money, the talent, and the infrastructure to build something far better.

At this point, only Indians can explain why they keep holding onto Tejas.

Now I am sure Rafale isn't that bad a brand

well you did scrap another project before the tejas in the 1970's, this is very embarrasing

A Project can be taken over ,the culture of HAL is the issue.

Is it already proven that the issue is with plane or the pilot?

They have to privatize ala Lockheed Martin.

Anything government owned is a failure in India. The real talent never comes through as the caste based quota system and poor salaries dissuade real talent from developing tech.

Indian pilots a gift that keeps on giving.

India should not be allowed to have fighter jets. India is a disgrace to aviation

Ask yourself, should India be displaying this plane on any Airshow?
Why not?
It is indigenously developed and India should be proud of it. What is the point of flying US/China/Russia/France/Germany/UK made fighter Jets? Everyone knows what those Jets can do. This was an opportunity to showcase the indigenously developed Jet. Sure it does not look good when the plane crashes. But at least India can proudly say they have the know how to do what big boys can. They need to iron out a few glitches and I am sure India would do it. Its a matter of time.

Keep trying till success is achieved. We also need to wait and see the reason for the crash. Is it pilot error or mechanical error...

LOL, Try to understand what is being said.

Non combat fighter jets crashed record

USA F-35 = 12
USA F-22 = 7
USA F-16 = 655+
Russian mig -21 = 1200+
Chinese J-15 = 300+
French Rafael= 4
Euro fighter typhoon= 24
British Jaguar = 42
India Tejas= 2
Pakistan Jf-17 = 7

Just for information to some delusional posters who don't know anything about aircrafts

:kp

This is all now cope... Everything else is a proven fighting machine apart from the junk that is Teja. Having to put plastic bags to collect oil leaks... that was a missed clue!!

Now do it as a percentage of total ever built for each plane.
