Pakistani batsmen are totally clueless in the field.

They cannot read match situation, for instance, when chasing , they keep on blocking and blocking and let the RRR to climb out of control.

They do not know when to take the batting powerplay.

They are terrible with reviews, cannot tell where the ball has pitched.

Because they are unprofessional and play like kids in a local park. Their coaches and selectors are also pretty clueless. Maybe it's just a reflection of the society.

I think in part it is because they are so insecure of their place in the team which is down to: 1 - crazy selectors and an ott media and of course 2 - some just lack ability.

I don't think they are deliberately being selfish but their insecurity manifests itself in this way. Plus when you fear for your place in the side and are always looking over your shoulder you cannot really express yourself properly.

because a lot of them simply arent good enough which means whenever they walk out they are playing for there spot not the team

It's down to the captain really and the senior batting partner at the crease as well as the 12th man who comes out with the drinks

Pakistan were very good with this in the inaugral wc with misbah and malik
and in this series with sohail and afridi

but you can't always back your batsmen to chase 9 runs an over, it's alot of expectation

We are not just enough we are playing at the rate of 3 when the required rate is 6 this will get us in big trouble later on unless someone plays an afridi ininnings

They lack cricket apptitude I.e all those silly little technicalities of the game on an on going basis, they also do not understand many of the rules, so basically very armature

Players who achieve more than others edge it in mind.

Game awareness is key.

Picking up Amir on the mike he is anticipating quite well what the bowler will bowl next. Advising Yasir aswell.

Some very good points made, which summed up to one big issue - domestic cricket. These players are groomed in a system in terms of structure, diversity, game strategy & competitiveness below Lancashire or Birmingham league; therefore the transition for these players from QA to International cricket is like a village college boy coming to a private high end university at Karachi.

Other factors mentioned here were still there in 70s or 80s as well - but some of the most cunning & street smart cricketers in world came from PAK that time, because of their grooming in pro set up.

Most of the new guys don't play club cricket. Mach awareness comes by playing cricket regularly from a young age.
