Afghanistan's recent earthquake was devastating, and India sent relief materials which is a very kind and necessary gesture. But every packet carried the Indian flag taped on top, and it raises a question. Why do we need to showcase charity?

For those who are receiving food or medicine, survival matters more than the donor's identity for them at the moment. It seems everyone wants credit these days.

Note: This is not related to Afghanistan earthquake or targeted at India. I am using this as an example. You can share your own experiences also. :inti

Yes. I agree with you. No need to show off. People should help unconditionally.

I know this one guy. He always has to announce whenever he donates or helps. LOL. He shares on Facebook. It is cringy.

Exactly. I have also seen some influencers doing the same for camera. :inti

If you’re talking about it at an individual level, then I agree with you. But when a country sends aid, that’s different, it’s a legitimate diplomatic and geopolitical tool and do not find anything wrong with it. There’s nothing wrong with it, in fact, almost every country does it.

It's actually a smart thing to do, it promotes good will between the two countries. The US does the same with all its aid packages.

I was talking about individual experiences. You can share if you want.

Also, I just came to know that the packet I posted in the OP is originally from Pakistan but has an Indian flag on it. Can any Pakistani confirm it? So the trade between India and Pakistan is still going on? :inti

There is always one uncle in every desi family who brag about it nonstop.

The beat part of making money is giving it away.

Giving to charity also has tax benefits in the UK and USA I think too - which is why you see the celebs gifting millions, cos it saved millions in tax!

Because they were imported from Pakistan. Read post #6. :inti
It's weird, but given the dire situation in Afghanistan we should give credit to the Indian government for offering aid - no matter how it got there.

I am guessing that in country the Indians may need to coordinate the distribution of food with different charities so it makes it easy to control if the goods are labeled in this way.

Plus it helps build goodwill with the population.

Respect to India for helping out the Afghan people in their time of need.

Matthew 6

"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."

Matthew 6:2

“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
