Why don’t Pakistan have a single clean big-hitter?

Pakistan is a big a cricketing nation, but we still haven’t produce a single big hitting batsman after Abdul Razzaq.

Just seen Ben Dunk just stay in the crease and lift ball easily into the stands. Our batsmen have to use their feet to get the elevation and even then it’s mostly straight to the fielders.

In international cricket you see many stand and deliver players but what is stopping Pakistan when there is so much cricket in the country?

To see the NON-Pakistan players smashing sixes for fun in PSL is depressing, sure it is good entertainment but you would some young Pakistanis to do that as well. Only Shadab had been good if you exclude Kamran and Hafeez.

Hitting isn't really encouraged at the junior coaching levels.

Or even senior.

Sloggers and hitters are looked down upon.

Some who do become hitters, are only capable of hitting medium pace trundlers at mid-wicket/long-on. There's nothing else in their game.

Only leg side hoicks. Can't face and hit 140kph+. No proper placement on the off-side. Why not play cover drives too?

They become just like Anwar Ali, Imad Wasim and Fakhar Zaman. Unable to face pace, struggle big time vs. short ball too.

Even if you're supposed to be a hitter, you should be able to effortlessly hit risk-free cricketing shots for fours, without the ball taking any flight.

That can happen at cover, extra cover, sweep, switch hit, fine leg, point. Time the ball and have good placement.

But no, all they do is swing the bat at long on and mid wicket. Don't even have good pull shots.

If you don't rely on all-around-the-ground cricketing shots for these boundaries, then you aren't gonna last long as a 'hitter'.

Main reason is PCB!!!! They really don't care to find and give proper opportunities to tall young batsmen. They keep letting 35-42+ years old players in the domestic instead of young players. These players play for the sake of playing with no proper hitting abilities or long innings against good bowlers. Also PCB always go for cheap and play safe options for last 20+ years. They don't want to spend qualified foreign batting coaches. Our desi coaches are not international material. Abdul Razzak was one of those few exceptions.

lack of back foot game. Playing on flat pitches doesn't help. You need to improve footwork.

Australian pitches may be flat but they are high bouncy flat wickets unlike Asian wickets.

Not a fan of the guy after his spot-fixing troubles and not really advocating for his return, but Sharjeel Khan has/had the ability to hit it as cleanly as one can expect.
