Why has Iftikhar Ahmed's performance been deteriorating?

Usman Khan and imad wasim don't fit our agenda so that logic doesn't apply for them
They need to be part of the babar Azam group to get that luxury.
 
Taking his age into consideration, his fitness level is not up to par, which is why he is failing to perform recently.

Liking misbah for 2010 and whatever nonsense sure. But why are they acting as if Misbah's decisions are acts or god or divine scriptures?

They've even acknowledged he sucks as a coach, so why on earth would you listen to misbah 😂
 
Ifti just needs to come good in 2-3 matches.

Aamer Jamal has made a significant impact, hitting 7 sixes despite playing fewer than half the games that Iftikhar has, and boasts a solid average and strike rate for a lower-order batsman.

Mohammed Nawaz also stands out, with a better average and strike rate than Iftikhar Ahmed, and has hit more sixes than Iftikhar in seven fewer games.

Shadab Khan, having played only half the games as Iftikhar, matches him in the number of sixes, again showing a healthy average and strike rate.

Irfan Khan, having participated in just 3 games, has already outperformed Iftikhar in terms of hitting boundaries.

Ifti's SR is very poor in the middle overs against spin. He struggles on slow, stopping wickets - and that's exactly how many of the WI/USA wickets might be.

The fact he dominated in the PSL but struggled internationally is perhaps an indictment of the standard of PSL which some so readily hype up.

I agree. If players such as Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, and Usama Mir are excelling in the PSL but then find themselves struggling against New Zealand schoolboys under the same conditions and on the same grounds, it certainly raises questions about the quality of the PSL.
 
Most of the fans here on PP used to curse Shahid Afridi for his low batting average..... must be very happy and content with Iftikhar now? Not to mention, the hate against Umar Akmal.

There are many fans who loved to bash Afridi but are now totally silent at the pathetic S/R and horrible average by Afridi's replacements.
 
NZ home and away series was 🗑️! He didn’t work out in Ireland. Haider ali, Salman and Azam are best players to replace him.

He takes tooo long to settle in!
 
All the people who use to make fun of afridi lol, never would have imagined that chacha would be the replacement HAHAHAHAHAHA

I think Iftikhar is taking his place for granted. His performances have not been worth mentioning in the last few series. He thinks like he is undroppable. That is why he is going nowhere when it comes to his real job which is to bat the hell out of the bowlers which he is failing at atm.
 
He isn't getting much time for batting these days, but he certainly needs to do a lot of practice in nets as we expect him to explode in the last few balls or overs

Give some lack to this youngster brothers. He will come good very soon. Still the early days of his life. His performance has deteriorated is not true. He never actually performed so his performances can decline.
 
I have no doubts in the mind that there have been concerted efforts made to sideline Iftikhar for a very long time. By no standards is he a number 7 batter, and most certainly not by Pakistani standards. If you are sending Shadab, Azam & Imad ahead of Iftikhar, then certainly there is something wrong in your brain.

I know we have selected a lot of Kachraa in the WC squad and I also know that Iftikhar hasnt helped his case by performing very poorly, but it I had a choice to pick a batter at number 5 from the existing WC squad, I would pick Iftikhar 10 times out of 10. He would have murdered that ordinary Axar Patel in the 16th over if he was sent at the correct batting position.
 
Iftikhar should be history now. We need new faces like Salman agha who is waiting in line to replace him for sure. Better fielder and batter than Iffi bhai.
 
1. The reality is he has never had much talent to begin with.

2. And it doesn’t seem he is one to want to learn and grow much either.

point 2 probably goes for a lot of our players, but you don’t have much ability to start with your decline is exacerbated.

And to be honest - he hasn’t ever really done anything great for anyone to be alarmed at his decline. There was nothing much to actually decline from!

When you are not looking to adapt in accordance to the way the game is advancing, you will be found out at some point. This is happened for all of these guys.

No one is going to serve slot balls and deliveries going down leg side every ball for Iftikhar to cash in on. This isn’t PSL, Pindi cricket ground where all your flaws or shortcomings as a batter will be covered up.

How can you go bang bang when theirs an entire side of the pitch you cannot exploit? (Rizwan)

Or an entire variation of bowling you can't play( Babar and chacha)

Or are just tail enders in general.

Saud shakeel reads wrist spin very well. So far in test he seems to be the exception. Agha salman is another but he isn't as innovative.
 
Well, Iftikhar should be nowhere near the team now. He is done and dusted. If he still keeps his spot in the team, I will be shocked and hope that this team loses more because we are not willing to let go of our mistakes.
