Why hasn't Pakistan taken in any Syrian refugees and should it?

How is Pakistan gonna take any non neighbouring Countries refugees when here in the UK Urban areas of Pakistan are providing the most non war/Civil war refugees.

This a stupid question with an obvious answer.

As they say in the states... go figure

Pakistan is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world and always takes an interest in the affairs of other parts of the Muslim world, Pakistan was also until last year home to the largest refugee population in the world but why hasn't Pakistan stepped up and welcomed Syrian and Iraqi refugees but at the same time many Pakistanis aren't happy with anti-refugee policies in Europe and America or any other western country. I think Pakistan should take in Syrian refugees, after screening them of course, and helping them settle there. I think it'd hypocritical and selfish of Pakistan not do so, they'd also contribute to the cultural tapestry of Pakistan. If Pakistanis can criticize Trump for proposing a ban on refugees and praise Trudeau for opening doors to them in Canada, why can't Pakistanis accept them?

By taking in Syrian refugees, Pakistan would also dispel the notion that the only reason Pakistan had to take Afghans in was cause we supposedly "wrecked" their country, this would reinforce Pakistan as a hospitable country. What do you guys think?

Have Syrians tried to make their way to Pakistan? Or Iraqis for that matter?

Refugees main aim, from both nations, is to ge to the UK or US, which is why they travel through and at times, reside in middle eastern and north african countries, before finding a way across the med and then across land to France.

Pakistan is in the opposite direction.

First help yourself, then help your community, then help your country, then start looking outside. Maybe Pakistan should try and shelter its millions of homeless before bringing in refugees from elsewhere based on a war the Saudi's, USA and certain Euro countries started.

Relative peace. Same thing that Pakistan has offered Afghans, Rohingyas, Somalis and Kurds in the past.
I've even had Arabs at my mosque ask me why hasn't Pakistan as a large Muslim nation not been taking in any refugees, so Pakistan is def seen as an option.

It's interesting these arabs ask you this when there's Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the other Gulf Countries which are doing zilch.

Next time ask them which country they are from, and if it's the ones with "relative peace", why don't they help out, and do they think if Pakistan is the thekedar of Muslims around the globe.

They have given a lot of financial assistance

Afghans have already set us back by 50 years. We don't need Syrians adding to the issues.

The best place for Syrian refugees may well be Syria. With the twin pincers of western air power allied to Iranian troops on the ground, vast swathes of the country have been cleared of terrorists and will soon be rebuilt by western firms who will eagerly compete for lucrative contracts to do the work. Hopefully Britain will get their share of the work and that will give our stagnant economy a shot in the arm. :)
