Many people are comparing this series to 2011-12 series. Also return of Smith and Warner puts Aus as firm favourites. But there are notable differances by then and now.
1. In 2011 series, we had all our batting on last legs. Now we have Kohli(1 test), Pujara, Rahane all having fair games in Aus earlier. Likes of Agarwal, Pant, Pandya, Jadeja are almost all complete batsmen.
2. I cant see this batting faltering more than 1-2 times in the entire series.
3. In bowling, we have Bumrah and Shami. Yadav or Saini as a backup are no pushovers either. Then Jadeja to keep run rate in check.
4. They have already played Odi and T20 series and looked in good touch.
More realistic scenario is 2-1 series victory to Aus.

Discuss.

It won’t be whitewash. Unlike Kohli Rahane can win a least 2 toss out of 3. Winning toss is huge for India.

Highly optimistic OP. I doubt if the result will be anything other than 4-0.

India is most definitely not getting whitewashed.

It will be a competitive series.

To be honest I don’t see any one even predicting a whitewash so I’m a bit baffled where the OP is coming from. Asides from some Pakistani fans (who are more hoping than predicting) no one is even floating this possibility.

India didn't get whitewashed with a mediocre bowling attack in 2014. I think the result will be the same as in 2014.

You know when you see a post you just KNOW will age badly...

Sydney and Melbourne are drawable venues but without Kohli, that may not be such an easy task.

If not for Kohli, we would have lost 4-0 in 2014/15. His daddy hundreds at Sydney and Melbourne were the difference between 4-0 and 2-0.

Will be hilarious if India wins all 4 tosses and wins all games lmao. Then you will hear people crying about why tosses matter.

To me, it will boil down to who wins the most tosses. Last time we got lucky with that.

India is a strong team , very good fast bowling and very good batting as well.

Conditions are different than Newzealand , India will draw or win the series.

Aussies wins 4 tosses they will win 2 - 0

India's win 4 tosses, Indians win 3 - 0

Winner = toss winner.

Period. Kalaas. Katham.

predictions here are made with the performance against A team.

but in reality they will face smith, warner, labuschagne, hazlewood, starc and cummins

If that is the case then why are you giving India better odds when Aus will all tosses compared to when India does? Anyway, India has much better chances of winning with Warner Injured and Burns horribly out of form. Not to mention Aus's biggest prodigies got concussed in practice games. India should take the first test with Kholi still there.

The toss doesn't really attribute to anything substantial in the match. You can still win the toss and bat first but possibly get all out for around 250 considering how much of a brute force Australia is at home.

A collapse will happen at almost any stage of the match, so the only way I see India winning is if they have batting until a relatively low number. The middle-order has to kick from the get-go, and the bowling unit has to be carefully selected as well.

The odds are still heavily in Australia's favor given that they have David Warner and Steve Smith, but India can by all means challenge this.

Bro I’ll pray the Indians win 4 out of 4, either you’ll get a reality check or I will

Lol ICC should save everyone's time and declare the winner based on the toss. This will also keep our player fresh for IPL where toss doesn't affect the result of a match. I am sure there is a stat somewhere on cricinfo which proves that whoever wins the toss wins the match because captain will always take the right decision to either bat first or bowl first. :inti

Because India don't lose when they win toss. Still yet to lose.

Anyway India aren't even at full strength. So aussies should win 2-1.

I think you guys will get a massive massive reality check if India wins the tosses 4 0.

Also India aren't even full strength so I would still say India wins at worst 2 0 if they win 4 tosses.

I hope so bro... would be very happy to be proven wrong since I support India whenever it’s an India vs Australia match.

There's a reason why India have lost only one test in the last 5 years whenever they have won toss.

Australia at home should take the series by 4-0 with India's best swing bowler Sharma injured and horribly out of form shaw. Not to mention that india are going to miss jadeja at no.8 and kohli for the last 3 tests, and no Rohit for the 1st test either.

Best Indian team would be this:
Mayank
Rohit or Shaw
Puji
Kohli
Rahane
Pant
Jadeja
Bhuvi
Ishant
Bumrah
Shami

India will be missing several of these players throughout the tour.

Had this team been available I have no doubt India takes it.

Now it's 2-1 Aussies as we are weaker. But we can still beat them if we win majority of the tosses.

From Jan 1 2010, India has won 15 tosses in SENA matches : they won 3 matches, lost 7 and drew 5.

Two of these three wins came in the last Australian tour without Smith and Warner.

Do it from 2016.

Don't bring Dhoni's results my boy.

Do some research

Kohli hasn't lost a single FOOKING game when he wins the toss away from home. Oh wait? And at home too.

What does OP meant by 'India wont get whitewashed this time around'? How many times we got whitewashed in Australia? Didnt we win the test series there last time?

The only whitewash India faced in last two decades is the 2011 tour. Rest all the tours we have competed vallantly and is considered as one of the best touring team in Australia.

2003 tour - Drawn series (1-1)

2008 tour - India should have won 2-1 but Australia/Bucknor cheated their way to 2-1 in Australia's favour.

2011 tour - 4-0 battering of India

2014 tour - 2-0 winner Australia

2018 tour - 2-1 win for India (could have been 3-1 but rain saved Australia in last game).

Curious to know why OP thinks we will get whitewashed this time..lol.

Make no mistake. The team I posted above at full strength would beat Australia 4 0 if they win all tosses.

If they don't. It will be a close affair.

Current India without key players may still win if they win tosses. It's very likely.

But if they lose tosses, India can fight on flat Pattas because batsmen can bat. So yea it will be close.

Toss toss toss

Remember toss matters for good teams. Not faltu teams like the previous two teams to tour Australia.

Like I said 2 - 1 Aussies If 3 tosses are won by Australia

2 - 0 if all 4 tosses won by Aussies.

3 0 if India wins all four tosses.

2-1 India if India wins 3 tosses.

Bookmark this. Screenshot it. Don't care.

Bro I get your point and I really like your spirit but there's no way on earth we are sweeping Australia 4-0 in Australia nor are we winning 3-0 irrespective of tosses or how full strength we are. Not only us , but even a world XI team won't beat them in in their own backyard.

They're currently as strong at home as us if not stronger.

No way they are stronger than lolli's team in home conditions.

Bewda plus lolli combo regardless of their selections are the best home track bully of all time. Aussies can't dominate at home like India can.

Doesn't matter.India will lose badly this time.no virat this time around to save this awful test team.4-0 coming up for poor India.

Yes. Agreed. 4 0 phainty. We are a mediocre side like Pakistan. We don't deserve 4 tests tbh. Neither does anyone else when they tour India.

At least India can be home bullies though. We can give phaintys to Aussies and Sena lovers you guys admire so much. But your ATG team would lose even at home bhaiyaa. Like they lost to kiwis ROFL

Anyway phainty incoming for the mediocre Indians. They can't play bounce. Only know how to do bounce Billo.

OP was making prediction that India would lose a test against WI (in India in 2018).

Australia should be ashamed if they cannot whitewash this Indian side missing Ishant, their captain Kohli (for a few games), and India’s best all rounder, Jadeja. Vital cogs from all departments missing.

Simple.
