WTC final as i said is a joke. You can't lose 4 test series in a row and win one off match and say "see we won". Test series is a lot harder to win rather than one off test. India went there with zero preparation right after IPL.

No team is perfect but compare how many times they've come up short in pressure situations versus how many times they've come out on top and you will see there's no team that even comes close to them in terms of success.

Australia doesn't need to have the best team to win, they just need to believe that they are the best.

Tbh Maxwell has played some good T20 innings Starc too, Cummins is overrated as T20.

Warner, Marsh, Warne, Gilly , Hayden were the top IPL players from Aus.

Guys like Starc who are erratic not at all a good bet in T20. Even Rabada can be targeted. Malinga is the ultimate GOAT in T20. These guys are nowhere near him. In contemporary cricket Bumrah has better skillset than these guys. Shami despite being a fantastic bowler in ODI and Tests is not a good T20 bowler.
 
It is fashionable here to put India down when your own countries are pathetically not even part of the discussion anywhere. Some rely on luck and prayers, and along with some others, are not good enough to even make it to the knockouts of tournaments. Well done hiding your own team’s shortcomings.
Aussies are a ruthless team and absolute champions, but that doesn’t imply India are chokers. They are a very consistent side and they will win one soon. I would much rather take reaching the finals and rooting for my team than clap hands from outside for the the team that I really don’t have any association with and one that beats my team’s behind every time they meet them.

India is the dominant nation in cricket. From a financial standpoint, they have dominated cricket for the past 16 years. Examine their league and first class setup. They are cricket personified. However, take a look at the other teams, except Australia and England, their first-class league structures, player treatment policies, and salary disparities . The uncapped players from Bihar will probably be earning more money than great cricketers like Babar Azam, Kusal Mendis, and many others.
They play in every league because weak boards are unable to manage their players.
Players fight with boards for noc. But at the end they have these justifications that even though our teams had numerous issues, we still managed to win, therefore even if we lose tomorrow, it won't matter because of our setup. Take a look at our players' training methods. Boards can't pay them what they want, thus they're all a bunch of cowards who are only thinking about their money.
However, India is currently a force to be reckoned with; just look at their players and tell me what the BCCI is not doing to ease their lives, so that they may concentrate solely on winning trophies. It doesn't sit well with your logic, they haven't won any ICC trophies in the last ten years, even if I would have agreed with you if they hadn't won anything for four years. Therefore, calling them chokers is appropriate and does not have any flaws.
Why do you think someone like Imad can smoke and then go to the PCB office and make his demands, then he will think about if he should come out of retirement or not? Because there is no talent available, they are simply looking for players that can at least handle pressure now forget about performing. Take a look at Bcci and their players, and consider the talent that they possess. Still, if they lose the forthcoming WCT20, why not call them chokers? Will you still defend your team because they are still runners-up or in the semi-finals, and nothing else matters?

No ICC trophy since 2013 even though they have reached many knockouts since then.

I say that's choking.

India is a group stage/JAMODI/home track bully (based on their track records in the past 11 years).

What you’re not comprehending is that losing to one team over and over is not choking. Australia are a gun team. They are better than anyone around and almost always raise their game during knockouts. Why do you think beating Australia is considered a really big deal for anyone? Have you considered that Australia may just be better than India rather than India being chokers?

Let’s just say I have watched Rohan Kanhai and Roy Fredericks on TV when they were playing Test cricket, so “my lad” came across as a bit crass. In my generation, they call people they don’t know by their names. You can call me Charlie.

So why do you think choking is synonymous with failing only at the knockout level? When you are under pressure to win games to qualify for the knockouts, wouldn’t that be choking too? And it is perhaps a greater level of choking that you couldn’t win even when the pressure was even lesser, compared to the knockout stages.
Do you think Pakistan has always choked against India in ODI World Cups? I don’t think so. I think India is just the better team.
 
Australia pounded India to kingdom come in the finals similar to how they did Pakistan in wt20. They are experts.

The entire point of a final is that after a long elimination process, you then need to perform under pressure.

One team can, one team cannot.

This makes no sense in Tests. Why should this happen only in England? Also right after IPL scheduling this is a big disadvantage for India. It has to be a series. India with zero acclimatization cannot land directly and play tests. This is why series wins matter. Sooner than later India will one WTC final. Still my stance is the same about final. Whoever tops the table should be declared champions. There should be no point deduction for over rates

Tbf everyone are bunnies of Australia in finals in odi

Still believe they are a very mediocre t20 team. Fluked it last time. Their odi team is the best though under pressure in ko games.

In a series though I see india beating them in odi.

In tests india has beaten them in multiple series but not the one off final which was played in England. Tests having one off final is silly imo. Series wins matters more.

In odi no one touches Aussies though. Not even great w.indies side of 70s ans 80s

That's true. Indians had no prep for finals. Wtc final in tests don't work. Should be a series. Or just award it to table topper or better yet, play a series in table toppers home to see who is the true winner. Some perks need to be given for finishing first.

No overrated point deduction or player warning/ban should be imposed because teams otherwise will just keep taking advantage by slowing the game down. Fast bowlers in particular have a tendency to slow things down to rejuvenate themselves. It's a huge advantage when you have the extra rest as you can play with more intensity.
 
Indians are still crying this is very enjoyable, at least now we get to see it in public lol they were in hiding for a food few months, fantastic!!
 
I'm curious to see India compete in an ICC final without Kohli to find out if they can secure a victory. 🙄

Despite leading his IPL team from the very beginning, Kohli has yet to clinch an IPL trophy. He seems to be the antithesis of Cummins, almost as if he repels trophies. I haven't consulted Statsguru, so my details might be off.

South Africa used to dominate bilaterals and group stages of any ICC trophy, and I don't believe any other team has entertained me as much as South Africa has. But why did we call them chokers? They used to lose in knockout matches as simply as that. If Pakistan enters the knockout stages in the next four years and then begins to lose from there. They will be referred to be chokers as well, as only the Champions Trophy final has kept them alive to this day.

But, on paper, India has a better team than any other country, and we must recognize this. 2014-2023 is a whole decade. I'm sure you witnessed Indian people's feelings during the 2023 final. Even they were disappointed that they had not won the cup again. They want a cup, they want a 4th star on their jersey. What does runner up actually gives you?

I agree in 50 over world cup 2019 and 2023 they faced every team. But do you think it was harder for them to even qualify for knockouts when they were facing not so quality oppositions in group stages.

Pakistan has always been a lost case against them so that win is always guaranteed for them after that one win against any low ranked team is enough for them to qualify for the knockout round.

They lost against Australia in a final when every person in that 1 lakh 30 thousand was supporting them

Okay forget that as Australia is a mentally strong team.

What about westindies vs India 2016 semi final

They beat them when every guy in wankhade stardum was supporting them.

India has got all the benefits and icc and bcci has always given them best chance to win which i believe but they have always failed.

Let's see this year I feel they have a good chance and they might win this finally and i believe Rohit Sharma will contribute the most as this probably will be his last t20 worldcup.

You brought Pakistan into the discussion, that’s why I showed you the mirror.

What I’m saying is the choker tag is not synonymous with choking in semi finals or finals. It is about not being even able to qualify to the next stage. If there’s pressure to qualify for the next stage and your (and I say your in general, could be any team) team is not able to, then by your definition every team is a choker. South Africa have attracted the choker tag because they have lost almost all of their knockout matches. That’s not true of India. India have won a lot more knockout matches than they have lost. If they are chokers, then other teams are bigger chokers.
And yes, Australia have had the upper hand over India in tournament finals, they are just a better team and play better when the stakes are high. Doesn’t make other teams chokers.

South Africa were tagged chokers because they have lost a lot more knockout matches than they have won, overwhelmingly more. India has won a lot more knockout matches than they have lost. There’s a difference.
I never said I or any other Indian would be happy losing at any stage, more so at the finals, but that has nothing to do with being chokers. The fact that we were able to win several knockout matches and advanced forward to the last stage of a tournament points at that. It would be fair to call India chokers IF they lost it at the first sign of pressure, but they have not done that, have they?
Given that I’m not doing a great job convincing you and vice versa, agree to disagree?

The WTC shouldn't bend over backwards because India chooses to run it's domestic T20 comp at a certain time. They change the timing of the IPL regularly anyway, let them move it if it's an inconvenience. Nations turn up with no preparation for Tests all the time. Pretty sure India are handed enough privileges in world cricket already.

England is a great place to host the WTC final. They'll rarely play in it, so it's nice & neutral :)

Test matches require sufficient preparation. Getting used to condition is one thing. Aussies were already playing county cricket. Indians just landed right after IPL and played one off test. That is a serious disadvantage. World Cup LOI happen in the same country as preliminary matches unlike WTC final. Will.Australia win against India in Bangladesh? No They even lost to BD in Bangladesh.

Sorry but this is loser mentality from rohit. Ind lost because they were timid. Klrahul jadeja were.useless and they tuk tuked both losers. And then , ind still had aus at 45 for 3 still.190.for 3. And rohit had the most defensive fields. 2 catchws went through the slips.and game was gone. Aus had labu struggling and another wicket there at 75 for 4 would have completely changed the narrative. But rohit and ind team was.timid defensive- and tim8d defensive teams rarely win WCs. Aus was not much better man to man - they just had more aggressive approach positive intent and did the basics right taking catches and fielding superbly- unlike defensive and timid klrahul jadeja batting and rohit captaincy
 
David Warner says IPL exposure helped Australia in World Cup final: The win wasn't by chance

David Warner went down the memory lane to Australia’s epic win in the World Cup 2023 final against Rohit Sharma’s India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

David Warner was a part of Australia’s 2023 World Cup-winning squad

Warner scored only 7 runs in the final against India. Australia beat India by 6 wickets in the final

David Warner said that Australia used their home tactics to beat India in the World Cup 2023 final last year. Back on November 19, the Aussies beat the Men in Blue by 6 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Pat Cummins’ men got their hands on the title after ending India’s 10-match winning streak in the mega event.

Warner got out cheaply to Mohammed Shami after scoring only 7 runs off 3 balls. But Travis Head scored 137 runs off 120 balls to help Australia chase down the target of 241 with 7 overs to spare. Warner, who has retired from Tests and ODIs, said that his team tried to take singles and couples on the regular basis to keep the Indians in check.

“I think we embraced the fact that we didn't have anything to lose. We are fortunate to have understood the conditions and the venues from 2009. And Ahmedabad was the venue where the boundaries were similar to Australia,” Warner told R Ashwin on the latter’s YouTube channel.

“Our gameplan was structured around the MCG -- hit the pockets, run the twos and if we're bowling, bowl it to the chest and target the big boundaries. So for us, it was like Australian gameplan in India. That's what we thought about and tried to attack that situation.

“We had great experience in the group. It wasn't by chance we played the way we did, it was more because of the understanding of the wickets,” Warner said.

‘Helps to be part of the IPL’
Warner also said that playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has helped the Australian cricketers immensely as far as adjusting to the conditions in India is concerned.

“It helps; it definitely helps to be part of the IPL and playing on all these wickets. You understand the conditions, the type of the soil used, whether it's black soil or red soil. Is it going to turn in the first innings or turn in the second innings, you sort of get that great understanding,” Warner added.

Warner is currently in India where he is a part of the Rishabh Pant-led DC in the IPL.

Pressure comes due to structure. You cannot win tournaments without proper team structure. You need batsmen who can bowl and bowlers who can bat to cover up the unexpected scenarios. Every team needs that. Not like AUstralia never collapses in world cups. They have their fair share of collapses. But someone always put up their hand because they are not one-dimensional. Almost all the Aussies are stunning fielders. In subcontinent teams you will be lucky if you find 2 decent fielders. Fielding can inflict so much pressure in crunch games more than bowling and batting. Coming back to structure, if you have 5 batsmen who can't bowl and 4 batsmen who can't bat you will be in a position where every single player has to have near perfect game in every single match. If you lose 3 wickets ( that is the cut off point for India) that's it. They will completely shut the shop as they cannot afford further collapse as you will be one wicket away from tail. As long as this structure exists India is never going to win any tournament for forseeable future despite having excellent players.
 
Team selection and useless seniors and undeserving guys getting selected for WCs is the reason. In 2019- dhoni klrahul and 3d player vijay shankar cost the WC. In 2023- useless klrahul jadeja cost them.
And in T20wc- repeatedly selecting senior tuk tuk players like rohit kohli jadeja pandya even Pant - who are a misfit for t20s and who cost 2 t20wcs are selected again.. there's a reason ind won in 2007 2011 2013- it was a young team with a young captain and just 1 or 2 seniors..
 
I moved to Melbourne couple of years ago and one think I can tell you is the sporting culture in Australia is way different than in India.

In cricket specifically, the biggest reason why Indian team lost the finals was pressure.
Pressure comes with the culture from when you are a kid. That’s just how it is in India, it’s not just sports but in every aspect of a kids life the competition and pressure is too much, which travels with the kids to adulthood.

However, in cricket as you continue playing for national team the pressure keeps increasing and playing a World Cup final for Indian cricket team is one of the most pressure for any sportsman in any sports. Unfortunately, so far the Indian team can’t handle the pressure.

I hope the next generation are able to handle pressure more

Excellent post! Even though India is improving but they still are not that level yet and that’s why they crumble under extreme pressure level. Under that pressure your second tier players should be reliable. If your top batsmen fail, you know they would put their hands up and win it for you.

Then you have teams like Pakistan, who have a very weak structure and are constantly under pressure. Teams like pakistan are always one wicket away from a collapse. People often ask why doesn’t Babar play like other players, because our system by default adds an added pressure on our main batsmen. Our main players are always under pressure because on the back of the head they know, we are one wicket away from a collapse. For this very reason, none of Pakistani batsmen stepped up in the World Cups. Our batsmen have always let us down. Info was a failure in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2007. You did was a failure in 2003 and 2007. Sawed Anwar did well in 1996 but failed to win the match for us against India. Babar was horrible in 2023.

It's about a difference in expectations; Australia isn't going to melt down if their national cricket team loses .. they derive their worth from achievements in many other sports and fields in pop culture.
 
Australia is a team that learns from their mistakes which is a key for them to win out of nowhere. As we have seen recently in 2023 world cup, they lost 2 games early and then they learned from it what where they were doing wrong, corrected their mistakes, and won the whole thing beating India in India. Australia really is a team, a unit that gels together for the sake of their country without having any grudge for any other teammate but on the other side, India? It is the egoistic attitude and thinking that they are winning it for sure, like we have seen with guys like pandya. Pride hath a fall and that is why India is a bunny of Australia.

Warner explained how much of an advantage it is to play IPL. Yes they are as familiar with Indian grounds as Indian players. If anything more. THey used the long side boundaries to good effect by bowling slowly into the pitch. Australia was clearly an underdog going into the final. Many ausssies they were going to get thrashing of their life time after seeing how INdia obliterated every batting side including Australia. Come the day. Instead of a flat track they were greeted with a sticky surface. They without hesitation chosse to field first as chasing gets easier under lights. An even true track would have given the advantage for Indian bowlers with a slightly bigger score like 320.

So you think India lost because of the pitch? How many times they have lost to Australia? all of them were pitch issues? I guess not. BCCI was the host and ICC was the main body that controls all this stuff but there was controversy that India doctored the pitch but they still ended up on the losing side.

2015 Australia was better. 2023 India was significantly a better side. They beat them in the first match rolling out for 195 runs. India had no business losing to a side that has middle order with Smith, Labu. India even punctured them with 40/3. Then Rohit went on the defensive with no slips for no apparent reason. If it were 2000 Aussies that is acceptable. This was a rubbish OZ side that had their slice of luck right through. Mujeebur drop. Then They almost flunked in the last over against NZ. Labu's outstanding save saved them. They almost did not make the semis.

India will not get a better opportunity than 2023 for an ICC trophy. Everything was in your favor, and somehow you managed find a way to once again give the opposition a one-sided win.
 
India lost the game in first half. Fielding made the difference tbh. Ozzies were like cheetahs on the park. Conceded only 4 boundaries in 40 overs. Champion stuff.

India has stronger suits in both ODIs and T20s issue is that they cant handle the pressure of a big game.

They will eventually win when they get their combination. Need a calm leader like MSD who brings out the best in everyone. Both Kohli and Rohit lack that. Often team follows the leader. If the leader is under presssure team is under pressure.
 
This Indian team might have star performers and big names but BCCI chose the team based on star power only rather than giving chances to a few men in form.

AGainst Australia, India has a choker mentality simple as that. Until they beat them in a final or knockout stage, this bunny barrier is gonna stay strong and will grow stronger and stronger.
 
Pakistan women may loss today and this would result in elimination of Indian women from ICC Women T20 WC 2024. But in reality as always Indian team bottled it against NZ and then lose yesterday against the ever dominant another aussie side.

India knocked out Aus in WC QF 2011 to mark the end of an era , enroute to their home title.

So if India wins the SF most likely they will CT.

Aus have inflicted 2x killer blows on India, 2003 WC F, ala Joburg Chainsaw Massacre and the 2023 WC F, Ahmedabad Hiest
