What's new

Why is Imad Wasim in the team?

One other thing where are those posters who said Imad should play over Shadab? :))) :)))

Imad is a poor batsman and a bad fielder too. His bowling is decent.

Pak should be able to replace him easily.

It looks like he's put on a few kgs. Looks very unfit and mix that with his meh bowling and poor batting & fielding he shouldn't be starting anymore.

He's added weight. Extremely poor fielder. Gets 1 or 2 wickets once a while. Never succeeded with the bat, especially when Pak is at a crunch situation he gives his wicket away easily, just like he did today.

Raza Hasan should replace Imad. But Imad will continue as he’s the #1 t20 bowler

He hasn't done anything with the bat in a while and to be honest shouldn't be an automatic starter in ODI cricket.

He needs to improve his batting considerably; tries stupid shots or to hit it really hard. Doesn't look clever; looks stupid.

Needs to improve.

4 overs 30 runs 1 wicket. (lucky wicket where batsman just picked the fielder)

another pathetic performance from the overweight

Sarfraz is destroying T20 team by continuing selecting Imad Wasim

What else he should do ?picking a 5 fer in every innings ?Come on , he is no 1 bowler in this format.

When was the last time he delivered a match winning performance? Let alone match winning, when was the last time he made a solid 30-40 runs when team was under pressure, or take 2-3 crucial wickets?

Being economical , picking up one or two wicket on consistent basis are more than enough for a player to remain in top spots in ranking let alone in pak team.We , Pakistani fans are one of the most impatient fans who want ouster of players on the basis of just few games . Everything should be considered in its own context . Do you consider his today 's performance subpar ? If his today one was subpar , then hassan , shadab were more poor.
P.s I'm not comparing shadab and hassan with amad.

He has resorted to bowling medium pace and his bowling is increasingly being worked out.

His batting is non-existent and he goes missing when the pressure is on.

Imad is hanging on by his thread, and his ever growing belly may be the final straw (or thread ;)).

He's a poor man's Jadeja. And Jadeja isn't even that great in white ball cricket. And neither can Imad field at 1/10th the level of Jaddu.

Mickey probably wants to keep a certain numbers of players in the XI that he can talk to and be sure that his words are understood. :yk2

Now that he’s not No. 1 in T20 bowling rankings can we please drop him ?

I bet he is going to haunt Pakistan cricket for another 10 years. I was so happy that we had finally gotten rid of Afridi only to have been ended up with this bits n pieces cricketer. At least, Afridi kept himself fit for most part, this guy is fat.

Well he's not in the team to face Scotland, not sure if he is still injured or not though.

Looks to me like his career is on the line.

Will probably make a comeback at some stage but he won't be a part of the first team. A couple of poor performances and he could be out permanently.

A nothing player who has the arrogance of a legendary superstar. Glad he got the boot.

Quality player with a fearless attitude and strong character. Valuable asset for Pakistan cricket.
:imad

He's not been selected due to a lack of match practice recently and hopes to be fit for the Zimbabwe series.

Still no Imad Wasim for the Zimbabwe series. I think if Nawaz does well, it will be hard for him to find a place back in the 11.

I don't think Imad offers us much. He's okay with the bat more times he's awful, he's prone to bowl loose deliveries and looks unfit in the field. Hopefully Nawaz has a good series.

Imad's a one-trick pony with the ball and a dud with the bat most of the time. A lot of his bowling success came off of bowling arm deliveries to weak oppositions in WI and SL. He would receive the hammering of a lifetime if he ever plays a game against India or England. From what I've seen, he has a very limited range of boundary-scoring shots. Regarding Nawaz, yes I also hope he does good and IMHO I don't think he's as bad as most PPers make him out to be. A quality restrictive spin bowler and also useful with the bat (he's no Yuvraj Singh but he can still score some quick runs, certainly better than Imad).

Absolutely I agree. Imad more often then not fails against the big teams. He got some fifties against England and we started to rave on about how good he is. Nawaz definitely is better, better bowler and capable batsman.

A guy who got thought he was the second coming of Saqlain combined with the lower-order ability of Razzaq.

If you can dart and hit, stick to it.

Do not try and become unfit and play ramp shots at the death.

I have said this and will say again and again Nawaz is 10x better bowler, batsman and fielder than Imad.

Imad is a waste of space in team just like MoHa.

Imad's best performance has come against Windies and has done nothing since then

Imad should retire and take on a different profession as he's clearly rubbish in cricket awful player can't bat , field and a a darter. I agree Nawaz is much better then him in every aspect of cricket.

Well I would tell him to retire, hcan continue to play in BPL and CPL and a bit of PSL

Nawaz is a better bowler but he is not a better batsman than Imad. How Nawaz qualifies as an all-rounder is beyond me.

Both are the definition of bits and pieces. Shadab Khan IMO is what you call a complete AR as he can win a match by contributing in any discipline.

To be fair to Imad - his bowling with the new ball did help us to reverse the Kookaburra during the middle overs in the Champions Trophy.

He's been deadly against teams that haven't faced him before with batsmen playing across the line shots. But as batsmen work him out as a spinner who doesn't turn the ball much and can be played almost as a medium pacer, he'll lose his effectiveness.

He only bowled with new ball against India in 1st match and India made 350

I am not sure what his plan is today? I thought he was an AR. Playing a horrid inning, he doesn't even want to try.

Find it funny how people are bashing his batting, when he is mainly in the team for his bowling, and he done better than every other batsman today apart from Sarfaraz.

Why are people attacking him. He did good with the ball, and he got a half century where every batsman except Sarfraz failed. It was hard scoring out there.

Imad strikes at 94 in ODIs, and 152 in T20s. That's literally better than anyone in the team.

Should be batting at 7, he's clearly a better bat than Shadab.

Our fans.....

Imad is key to us doing well. Calm under pressure and will be hard to get away at the WC. We need some power hitters but Asif Ali made it impossible to select him.

He is a better batsman than other fake all-rounders like Shadab, Faheem and Nawaz.

He is clearly more than just a glorified tail-ender and I think he deserves a permanent place in Limited Overs.

His bowling is not threatening enough in a 50 over game.

Yes that is a problem, but we don’t have a single top spinner in ODIs. Shadab did well yesterday, but he is below par against the quality teams more often than not.

Not enough impact with bat or ball.
Its hard to categorise him. Batting all-rounder or bowling all-rounder??
look at all the top all-rounders ever and they were very good in one facet at least.

A few months back certain posters had Imad as their captaincy preference :))

He is a palywr who is neither a bowler nor a batsamn. Shadab is the best spinner you have , So on merit he deserves yo be there.

Should be replaced by a proper batsman, 3 pacers + Faheem Shadab and Hafeez is enough. Shadab at 5 down is unnerving :O

A spiiner who can't turn the ball is never going to be able to bowl 10 overs without getting battered. His batting is ok, not sure it can make up for his bowling against the top sides.

One of Imad's best performances of late.

Excellent from him.

Imad > Malik, Sarfraz, Faheem and Shadab with the bat in ODIs.

I think instead of focussing on All rounders : shadab and Imad who are at least doing something, why we are not focussing on specialists in the team, Bowlers and Batsmen.

At least All rounders are keeping us in the hunt in the game, accepting that they are not world class AR, but they are some how doing their job. But the question is, are our bowlers and batsmen delivering results consistently? No

FZ, Amir, Imam(except for last 2 innings), Malik, Saifi, Hasan (his job is to take wickets) all failed in this tour so far, and then we say push out Shadab, Hafeez, Imad...These guys are bowling better than our front line super star bowlers. Amir should be dropped for good, his negative lines are of no use. Even in CT, except for final, he was going down hill.

Malik used him pretty well today. It shows what a good captain can do to a bowler’s confidence.

i like imad He brings a certain swagger and confidence to the team like hasan ali which is much needed in this pakistan team

People are berating his bowling but hes more of a batting all rounder - as hes shown on more than one occasion in the past

i think he compliments shadab well whos a better bowler but not quite a better bat than him

both are musts and valuable players in my opinion in this odi team

Yes he is more confident than anyone else in the team. Was assuring Malik when batting together in the 3rd ODI. Future captain.

Today was a good day in the office for him with the ball, however, his record is nothing to write home about.

An overall average of 37, with averages of 50,40, infinity, 109 and 42 against Aus, Eng, India, NZ and SA respectively.

In crunch matches he might be a liability and the bowler that other teams target. An economy of 4.5 is not too bad though in this day and age.

I didn't really like him much before, but he has performed well in this series. Much better than Faheem.

His job is to contain with the ball. He does a terrific job at that. His the least of our concerns.

Not to mention, he is clearly a superior batsman to Shadab, Faheem, and the other so called allrounders.
