What's new

Why is India producing better quality power hitters/batters than Pakistan?

Better physical development
Physically Stronger especially people from punjab, Tamil Nadu, andhra, haryana and also places like bihar have some really strong people there
Better fitness training
It must be the new generation , previously they were short and not physically strong .

Our players are told to bat in the V and get punished for being out of the box player and underprepared pitches at grass root level forces the batter to become timid and selfish for the sake of his playing xi spot.

Indian batsmen especially Mumbai, Karnataka players are usually technically very very sound due to sound coaching at a very age. Delhi , Pujnab players have more fire, juzbaa (Sehwag, Gambhir, Dhawan, Kohli, Yuvraj). Hyderabad players have a lot of flair (Jaisimha, Azharuddin, Laxman). There are some cultural difference in batting approach within India. TN players have some tough mentality.
And strength and power

The thing is all about diet, how you grew up, what you are exposed to and how much physical activity and development you did early on.

If you are exposed to hard labour/ tough work like construction/building/concreting/furnniture removalist, process work that involves moving big boxes etc, sand digging, digging in general

Early on then you have a massive advantage. As that strength will carry through for life.

Also if you join wrestling or weight lifting programs early on then it may carry through like in American schools.

Guys like Sehwag rely on bat speed. Rohit relies largely on timing. Optimum contact.
Without power there is no way they can hit the ball that far. There is a reason why Chahal and Kuldeep can’t hit 6s. You need timing plus power. You are seriously underestimating rohits natural power. Olympic lifters look fat ish in higher weight classes, but it doesn’t mean they dont have power.

Australia
South Africa
New Zealand
England
Sri Lanka

All produce better batsmen than Pakistan.

Does Pakistan have a batting culture?
The bigger question is: Does Pakistan even have a cricketing culture anymore?

I don't think they do tbh.
If they do, it sucks. Simple as.

Coming back to India, there is cricket being played at every level. Every state seems to have it's own league going on. Small towns have multiple school tournaments. U12s, U14s, U16s. Women's cricket has taken off too. And people watch which brings money.

And that money is poured back into the system. Only the beginning tbh. It would get bigger and better.

Sahibzada, Abdullah and Haider Ali are on par, if not better, than any Indian powerhitter. Impressive hitting skills in the PSL.

Again, none of this makes Indians physically stronger than any other nationality, other than that your point does make sense.

Every nationality has plenty of weak people and plenty of strong peope

Diet, environment you grew up in, what sort of physical work you did from a young age or training methods you implement in your regime makes the difference.

It’s just that in poor countries nutrition and access to facilities is lacking .

Also Pakistani food is extremely tasty. So I can totally understand the urge to indulge in Pakistani cuisine. But unfortunately that type of diet is not optimal for sport or physical strength in general.

Well, in my opinion, the lack of playing domestic matches is a major issue. Our players typically come up through the ranks by playing a lot of domestic cricket at the grassroots level, which is why the top-tier players who emerge usually possess strong technical skills and the experience needed to build an innings. Our batting scene is also highly competitive, which helps in developing a strong competitive mindset.

Last but not least — confidence. These days, Pakistani batsmen are under a lot of pressure from social media and their own system. Due to media influence, the system often fails to consistently back truly talented players. In a roundabout way, you could call it favoritism or ‘parchi’ culture — mediocre players keep going in and out of the setup, and the cycle continues. But real confidence is never allowed to build.
