Why is Mohammad Rizwan being criticized more than Babar Azam in T20 World Cup 2022?

Net negative in five games. 39 runs at a SR of 62 is all this "badshah Babar" could achieve.

He had impact of minus 20 against South Africa for playing that horrible innings of 6(16) wasting half Powerplay.

Babar is the worst Pakistan player in this World Cup by a margin, like his buddy Hasan was last year.

Still the selfish player does not drop down the order to help the team's cause

Rizwan is an easy target for people because Babar has been taken to the sky by fans, media, PCB social media, commentators & cricketers for several years. Babar's face is on so many billboards in the country.

While Rizwan has been bad this world cup, Babar has been awful. His captaincy has also been terrible.

Babar's insistence on keeping the opening combination same is also very strange. Several commentators have expressed that Rizwan is kept at opening position because Babar feels most comfortable batting with Rizwan. And of course Babar bats at the top because it's easiest to bat there, hard new ball, fielding restrictions and ample time allows you the best opportunity to score runs.

He was not giving any chance to Haris (except one game when Rizwan was injured) because Haris threatened his or his partner's place as an opener. Haris was only a forced change in the fourth game of the WT20 when all others were failing horribly and Fakhar got injured.

You are right about Harris. Whatever new faces / changes we have seen in T20 team in last 3-4 months are forced changes due to injuries, there is no strategic or tactical thinking behind these changes like improving the bench strength, implementing new strategies, workload management, rotation policy etc.

Examples:
1. Shan was brought in for Eng T20 series when Fakhar got injured
2. In Fast bowling team management was totally relying on Shaheen, Hasan Ali & Harris. When Shaheen got injured before Asia Cup and after giving plenty of chances to Hasan Ali, they were forced to brought Naseem, Hasnain, Dhani from Asia Cup.
3. Usman Qadir was brought for Eng series because Shadab was injured

Rizwan has a beastly strike rate of 100 compared to them

Going by other threads, it seems Riswan’s spirituality has rubbed the people who have weak faith the wrong way to.

Both Rahul and Sharma can make up for their slow stars. You could probably find some Butler innings to with slow starts in the PP to but that doesn’t make him inferior to Ris/Babar does it.

His selfishness is exposed badly. Poor powerplay batting is also one of the reasons both Babar and Rizwan are getting the flak.

This is espncricinfo Most Valuable Players of the Series (up to Sper 12s) Rankings for the Impact of the Performance of Semi Finalist Team Players

Both India and Pakistan Openers have faired poorer than Eng and NZ Openers

But most Surprising thing is the Impact rating of Babar Azam, who is last on the list among all players of Semi Finalist Teams.

These Numbers didnt speak of class of Babar. He is just one inning away from finding form. I hope and i am sure he will comes good in Semi Final with a win for Pakistan.

Becuse with Rizwan, there is no hope. He's a very limited player who is also extremely stubborn. While he scores most of his runs on the legside, he hasn't pushed himself to develop any offside game because he never viewed this as a shortcoming. Hence, when fans see him hopping around like a tailender to any delivery that is on or beyond the 4th stump line, they question his ability.

With Babar, it's about form and confidence. Both can be regained with just one good innings. Unfortunately, Babar has gotten into a very negative mindset and does not know the kind of approach he should be taking; aggressive or defensive. Again, these issues can be addressed and he's only one good knock away from getting back.

Agree, Babar is a class player, but out of form and low in confidence and also carrying captaincy pressure, but tries to hit out or get out after a certain number of overs. Rizwan is a player with very limited range of shots and he is too selfish to care about the team , just interested in his personal score and average .

When Babar was asked whether the team management thought about sending the Pakistan captain at no.3 – which was what most cricket experts in Pakistan were suggesting following Babar's poor patch – the skipper had a rather straightforward response.

“Mere khyaal se zehen me aisa kuch nahi tha. Ham apne waqt ka wait kar rahe the. Ye cricket hai, aap koshish karte hain ki aap har match me perform karein. Par ups and downs chalte rehte hain. Tanqeed sab hi karte hain, ham achha bhi karte hain toh vo karte hain. Ye jeet aap enjoy karein, Pakistan me jo aawam hai, aur jo yahan pe crowd tha, vo bhi enjoy karein, aur jo TV pe baithe hain, vo bhi enjoy karein. (No, we didn't think like that. We were just waiting for our time. You try to perform in every game but ups and downs are part of the game. Everybody criticises, even if we perform well. Now, just enjoy the win, Pakistan fans should enjoy this and those sitting in television channels should also do the same),” Babar said.

In another question regarding criticism on him from former Pakistan stars, Babar stated that he has no problems with it as long as it isn't personal.

“Agar aapko tanqeed kar raha hai… vo mujhe nahi, meri team ko kar rahe the. Har ek ka apna opinion hota hai, lekin personal nahi hona chahiye. Achhi tanqeed karenge toh har banda dekhta hai. Aap bhi karte hain, par aap har cheez ko dekhke karte hain. Personal hona... ham kuch nahi kar sakte. Bas enjoy karein ki ham final me pohoch gaye. (My team was being criticised. Everyone has their opinion, but you shouldn't get personal. If it's productive criticism, everyone listens. You also criticise us, but you see everything. We can't do anything if they get personal. Let's just enjoy that we have reached the final),” Babar said with a wry smile.

rizzy and bobby got exactly the kinda chase they wanted, a bit of luck at the start for bobby. southee and boult don't have the pace to bowl in asian conditions which helped to get them in, especially to allow riz to move around the crease, its the culmination of lots of factors which will hopefully give them the confidence to play freer in the final.
