The public transport of Punjab has been a major issue over the years.

Rawalpindi is a very big city and yet it doesnt have a bus system.
While a metro bus system does exist, but that only covers a single route.

Yes, bus systems are ran on subsidies, but the point of having a bus system is to create public ease.
With rising inflation, petrol being costly and getting a decent car costing at 8 lakh atleast, why isnt the govt not bothering to create a bus transit system?

Having a bus transit not only will save alot of money for families but it will be a safe transport system.

Not everyone could afford 8 lakh ruppees car, thus people have to buy 20k motorcycles, which are very dangerous.

PIA and the country's gas line has been operating on subsidies. While the gas subsidy has stopped, why cant they shift this subsisdy on public transport?

PIA isnt even a major concern, as PIA being improved doesnt change the live of a poor person, but having a bus system will atleast save him in transit cost.

In a bid to enhance the transportation infrastructure, the Punjab government has approved the launch of a tram service in Lahore

The project was approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif during her recent visit to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters.

According to details, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has commenced work on the project, which will span 11 kilometers and includes 10 stops, approximately 1 to 1.5 kilometers apart.

The LDA is drawing inspiration from modern tram models in Finland and China, with an estimated cost of Rs27 billion.

The tram route will include prominent localities such as Main Boulevard from Kalma Chowk, Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road.

Notably, MM Alam Road will be converted into a one-way street to accommodate the tram route, as part of the re-modeling and beautification project approved by the chief minister.

The tram service will also have a special stop within Gaddafi Stadium, making it a convenient option for sports enthusiasts and event-goers.

Meanwhile, the ticket prices for the tram service will be revealed post-launch.

Punjab govt sets 60km/h speed limit for motorcycles

The Punjab government has officially imposed a 60km/h speed limit for motorcycles across the province, including Lahore, following approval from the provincial cabinet.

According to a notification issued by the Transport Department, the new speed limit is now in effect, and violations will result in fines or legal action. The decision aims to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents involving motorcyclists.

Last week, the Lahore Traffic Police implemented a new law requiring all individuals riding motorcycles -- both drivers and passengers, regardless of their gender -- to wear helmets. The order, issued by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed, was aimed at improving road safety and reduce fatalities caused by head injuries in accidents.
