Why is this Zimbabwean bowling attack being termed depleted?

When India or other teams last toured which of the top bowlers were playing which prevented Rahul aka Bradman to score a double hundred?

So called cricket experts dont look like doing their homework.

Only Cremer and Chigumbura are missing.

Nothing takes away credit from Fakhar's double hundred. He can only face the attack he plays against. Also, its not as if he is himself very old in his international career. To hit a 200 in his 16th ODI is an immense achievement.

No they are not depleted, they are very dangerous attack.

On serious note, scoring 200 is not easy regardless of type of attack. Imam, who scored couple of 100’s also got out for a duck, things happen.

Their best pacers in Kyle Jarvis and Tendai Chatara are missing, their best spinner in Graeme Cremer is missing, as are Sean Williams and Malcolm Waller.

Not saying they're world class bowlers but it's a depleted attack for sure.

Chatara played the first 2 games. Malcom Waller plays t20s mainly and is not better then any of the spinners they played. Agree with cremer and Williams but don't think they would have stopped fakhar today.

Nope, Chatara is in the squad and Jarvis just returned to Zimbabwean cricket. Only Creamer is missing.
Sean williams and Malcom waller??? Really they are batting all rounders check there stats

Chatara was dropped for being awful throughout the t20s and first 2 matches. Cremer and Jarvis are decent, the other 2 aren't good anyway

Ambati Raydu scored 62 of 120 balls while chasing 168 against a similar attack but only Creamer was there.

And Rahul though scored a century in same match but came at SR of 86

Chatara didn't play today though neither did Jarvis who's injured.

I've watched a fair amount of Zimbabwe matches recently - Williams and Waller can keep things fairly tight without being too threatening.

With those guys - ZIM might've conceded 290-325, not 399.

Sigh. Babar is an atg and Rahul is a loser. Are you happy now?

Yes what did Chatara do in the last two games?

Come on bro Waller and Williams were gonna make a difference seriously, Fakhar finished the careers of Jadeja and Ashwin surely they were better than some part timers

If Waller and Williams have played Asif Ali and Fakhar Zaman would have made mockery of their bowling abilities. We would have scored around 450 if they would have bowled even 10 overs between them

You can't just look at at the numbers - you need to compare relative to Zimbabwean standards. Those guys aren't lethal but they have better Economy Rates than all of Zimbabwe's three fast bowlers today.

This outfit would be termed a 2nd XI attack in English county cricket.

Lol! So if Zimbabwe selects someone else becz they think he is better than the bowling attack becomes depleted?

Decent players can have a bad run of games - Tiripano is woeful with his 120kph thunderbolts amd Ngarava is club level.

Zimbabwe's attack at full strength beat Sri Lanka in 2017 in Sri Lanka. That attack wouldn't have torn through our batting but they wouldn't concede 399 either.

I know we're giddy at having scored 399 so want to hype this up - and it's a good achievement - but this is undoubtedly a depleted Zimbabwe attack. ZCB are disgrace for fielding this outfit and not resolving their internal disputes.

Yes but the problem is I cant see how it’s depleted and formed a thread as well. Other than creamer everybody is there.

Only thing you have come up with two batsmen who can ball, and have raised a selection issue for this match in form of Chatara

If you think this isn't a depleted Zimbabwean team then you don't pay much attention to Zimbabwe cricket.

8 frontline players are missing - Jarvis (best pacer), Raza (best AR), Cremer (best spinner) Taylor (best batsman), Mire (their most explosive batsman), Williams (okay batting AR and left arm spinner), Waller (mediocre but even he's better than some of these jokers today), and no Craig Ervine (3rd or 4th best batsmen).

Zimbabwe with those 8 frontline players are just about an international class side. Today's XI would not even draw a single match in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy.

Please trust me when I say this is a depleted team - I've watched more Zimbabwe series as of late than most here as I have a soft spot for them. I'm happy we scored 399 today but this is truly awful opposition.

This is Zimbabwes 3rd string side. Take no credit away from Fakhar tho, can only perform against what he is put up against.

Jarvis played in the T20 and Zama nstill smashed a 60, Chatara played 2 ODIs, Cremer averages 45 and Williams averages 40.

Not much to deplete mate.

Obviously Zimbabwean bowlers aren't going to boast impressive averages on paper.

However what seems lost on folks quoting me is you need to look at the RELATIVE performances.

Yes EVEN those averages and economy rates of Zimbabwe's frontline bowlers are better than the 2nd XI County attack they fielded in this series - Chisoro and the promising young Muzarabani aside.

Their frontline attack would've conceded 300-325 but not 399-1 for god sake so I'm taking little stock in these stat padding performances against Zimbabwe where even Imam-ul-Haq looks fluent.

I'd actually take more stock in the performances against Australia's second string attack in the tri series. If people want to believe we've played Zimbabwe's best team then fine.

You're trying too hard. Whether Zimbabwe plays their A team or their Z team, they are all equally rubbish. Performances against any Zimbabwe team should be taken with a pinch of salt

MashaAllah Misbah's Pakistan team found a way to struggle against a Zimbabwe team in the WC too. I remember Pakistan batsmen plodding along at SRs of 50/60s against Panyangara, Chatara, Williams  Azhar dropped an ODI to this hopeless lot as well. Sarfraz's Pakistan has been ruthless and you have to give him credit for that at least.

That just shows your ignorance then - if you think an already weak team struggling to compete vs top sides would not suffer from losing 8 experienced players then what can I say.

Don't you think we'd have suffered a worse 5-0 whitewash in NZ had we been missing EIGHT established players ?

FGS it's not about taking credit away from Pakistan - we've remained ultra-professional. But I'm not gonna start dishing out mithai on the back of this series.

So you think a full strength Zimbabwe has a chance against this Pakistan team? My point is, runs or wickets against any Zimbabwe team should not be taken seriously. But going to lengths to prove that this Zimbabwe team is this, and another would have been that is a futile exercise. Five ODIs against a full strength Zimbabwe is a joke as well and whoever came up with the idea should be fired from his job right now

Raza has been their best bowler in recent times.

No but I doubt they'd concede 399-1 ! That's the point. At least we'd have got a half competitive series - surely we can agree this series has all the intensity of an exhibition match.

With those 8 frontline players they beat Sri Lanka 3-2 in SL only last summer.

The moment ZIM had their internal issues and had players backing out we should've sent a Pakistan A team for this 50 over series and tested our bench strength - or arrange alternative opposition. This series is an affront to international cricket and a big reason why T20 leagues are gaining popularity.

It's not good for the game and Pakistan are learning little from it. Our boys will get better experience playing tougher opponents.

If Jarvis and co played I am pretty sure we would have got pretty much the same score. Jarvis bowls a bit quicker then a spinner. This is not misbahs era where we could score 250 odd against teams like Zimbabwe.

And we smashed that same Sri Lankan team 5 nil.

It is a rubbish attack. OP never says anything negative about the team so I'm not surprised he has made this thread.

Like I said, some of these guys have played against Pakistan and still not done well. So what would they have done today?

Rohit would have scored 3 double hundreds in 5 games. And i am serious.
Some ppers are now suddenly realising that making a 200 is tough irrespective of opposition. Claps for them.
