Granted he got 5 wickets against a minnow team like Zimbabwe in an ODI but the guy can bat as well.

He gets tonked in one ODI by Morgan and is made to open the innings by the then coach Waqar and then completely ignored and forgotten given that the 2016 T-20 WC was played in spinning conditions of India where we badly missed specialist spinners.

Micky Arthur didn't select him against Sri Lanka in the 2 test matches in 2017 under the pretext he failed to impress in the nets but this guy can also bat a bit which fits into Mickey Arthur's need for all rounders.

The guys bowling action resembles Ashwin. There is plenty to work with here.

He should have got more chances in these last 3 years. Selection decisions in Pakistani Cricket seriously baffle me at times.

For starters..

His action was reported so some coaches/selectors may have found him to be a risky option.

His doosra is a novelty right now and he took out their inexperienced bats. It's not a guarantee that he'll continue to do good.

Especially once the novelty wears off.

Or not get reported again.

We get excited so quickly. Let's wait for the 2nd innings and the 2nd Test and the NZ series as well to see how teams adjust to him.

His action was cleared. His off spin was just as effective. Even more impressive was his bounce which troubled the batsmen. And not to mention the guy can bat. Is a perfect selection for UAE type pitches.
