This should have been how Inzi and Moyo played, not taking massive risks but taking the singles. However now, these boys might as well try and attack cause this isn't going to get us anywhere!

this team just cant win matches....

none of them seem to be turning it on
and dont seem to be equiped on these kind of pitches

i didnt see any turn or being spinner friendly

YK is a consistant and tough player for all situations.....in S.a he's the guy most people relate to as a tough cricketer.....dont blame him for the performance......

True, the openers deserve critism too. It wasn't a huge target, all we needed was a solid platform...but they had other ideas

what a long tail...s.a would bring pollock in at 8.....with hall at nine.....

Just feel sorry for Inzy and Yousuf having to bat behind a couple of openers who could get blown over by the wind. If any of them could make a meaningful contribution of greater than 10 even we would win more than we lose.

ever since pakistan tried to integrate Yk into odi sides its been messed up. its meant that other players have never been tried out and the batting order has been re-jigged time and time again to accomadate him...

our openers have been useless as well...

Well what can we do then? The openers never set a platform and hence create unbearable pressure on Yousuf and Inzamam

Dont think I'm excusing the blame from the openers, because I'm not, but blame must also go towards Inzi and Yousuf for the way they batted. They played negative cricket and ive seen it so many times (against SA recently) to know what was going to happen next. Playing cricket like that never works!

Pak 129/6

113 needed from 78 balls...

You know that's not such an impossible task to get 113 runs off 78 balls, pakistan has done it in the past but what would have been ideal is that they were placed nicely with atleast 7 or 6 wickets in hand. 129/ 6 is not a good situation and by no means a team down for 129/6 with one specialist batsman at the crease can win a match.

^dont blame his for his performance.i thought there was a difference between yk and imran nazir.akhrot was playing like he was batting on a flat lahori wicket.

The thing to remember is that this match isn't the deciding factor to progress into the super 8s. True a few extra points would have been helpful, but we've just got to get our acts together for the rest of the games.

Yes but we are missing Afridi and Abdul Razzaq otherwise we would bat right down to 10.

YK should probably bat lower down the order - in a Dravid type role.

Higher up the order we need some players who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. The way the lineup is currently, it all seems to rely on a fallback plan when things fall apart. Problem is that Inzi and Yousuf don't play naturally attacking cricket anymore.

We also have a very long tail in this match, with Rana, Gul, Kaneria, and Rao. Most teams bat a lot deeper.

the shot yousuf played was ridiculous nonetheless. 6/over wasnt difficult on this wkt against part timers.

to be honest...it's not likely

Rana seems to have no worries. he is defending balls after balls with a smiling face :-D

I dont know what's going on with pakistan cricket....i remember when they scored 360 against S.A ....looked so calm and competant....why this nonsense ?

all they needed today was to bat calmly and they could have got this score....instead they seem to have no confidence and belief in their ability....

smith : man of the match

what is rana playing for?

He's actually managed the near impossible - making the recall of Sami plausible.

best answer i have is the openers. Imran Khan has it spot on(as usual) you cannot go into a worldcup without a set opening paiImran nazir is inconsistent and as it looks like, hafeez is a choker.....

What a shot there by malik!!! Magnificent shot!!!!

:))) cozier saying salim malik may have had money on that going for six.... :22:

They should just go for it because at this rate they are going to lose. Might as well go down fighting.

Dude , Why does YK keep on batting at number 3 when Malik is so awesome there. Comeon we need to bring Malik up and get that Idiot Nazir......

Yes i believe from next match onwards younis must open with hafeez and shoaib malik must back to the position he's been most successful at.

I believe dwayne smith will be win today's MAN OF THE MATCH award with his performance 32 runs and 3-36.

By the way guys can you predict the margin of defeat for pakistan ? I think we will lose by 50 runs. I know i can't believe i am saying this ! :O :6: :( :12:

Blame towards Yousuf and Inzamam? lol you want them to score centuries every game? Its a catch 22 situation, if they went for big shots and got out, people would have said "oh why go for the big shots" so they can't win either way. I'll tell you what the problem is - Yousuf and Inzamam are coming in too early due to our poor openers and getting exposed. If they had come in later, we would have won this game.

The problem as always is the openers. To chase any target whether large or small you need a good start. Unless you do that the middle order will always be under pressure. We are already two batters down and Akmal is ....well everyone knows my opinion. We effectively had 3 batters today and they can't always win you games. Just feel very sorry for Inzy and Yousuf.

can we see malik scoring a quick 60 more from 25 balls and rana supporting with a healthy 40...what a win it would be...

i heard somebody mention that we should go for a bonus point once the windies innigs was over.haha

Yes i said bonus points, what i meant was by winning today's match and as we are expected to beat ireland and zimbabwe there would have a strong chance for pakistan to pick up points to carry over to super eight.

...maybe not :(

They are trying to make sure they get as close as possible so they do not have a low RR, that can be crucial when going for the Semis or even for selection to the super 8.

Who said they had to go for big shots. All I'm saying is the negative cricket backfired on them. I've seen it countless times. Their role was to rebuild a partnership but they also needed to atleast go at a healthy strike rate. Most of the time they were hovering under 3 RPO which is simply not acceptable in this form of the game! With both Inzi and Yousuf being dismissed it just leaves all the hard work and pressure on guys like Malik and Akmal.

Pakistan is trying to score around 200 so they have decent RR for future ties if needed.

Why the hell was RANA selected today, pakistan should have played sami or azhar mamood. A long tail awaits to be sent back to the pavilion.

Shabaash PAKISTAN we are PROUD of YOU !

west indies with this win will be a real force...like pakistan their greatest enemy isn't their skill...but their confidence...

this will boost their confidence a great deal !
