u have to give credit to them after they were bundled out by india in the warm ups..

they played the better cricket and pakistan have to go away and lick their wounds and think about their strategies.

Perosnally for me our skipper has 3 things to think about...

1. the opponents and what their weaknesses are
2. what responsibilities to give his players and ensure they stick to it and they are achieveable and realistic
3. raise his level himself wiht the bat and lead from the front....

if changes are to be made, then rana and imran nazir's spots are the most in danger...

HAHAHA i don't believe this, my prediction was almost proved right. Pakistan all out for 187 runs and lose the match by handsome margin of 54 runs !

We lost the opening match of 1992 world cup by 10 wickets against west indies and the opening match of 2007 world cup against windies also lost but by 54 runs .. can the whole team play like cornered tigers like they did midway 1992 world cup ???? But not with rana naved and imran nazir in the team.

Come, Come can hardly call Hafeez, Nazir & Akmal batsmen. Yes technically as far as I am aware they are men and did have bats in their hands, but it was plainly obvious they had no clue what to do with them.

Poor performance by the boys, particularly the batting, after I thought 240 odd was gettable.
Never mind, it means an extra super 8 victory will be required.
Big games ahead, and we need to learn from Aus in 1999/Pak 1992, when momentum can gather and the team that starts well doesn't necessarilly win.

241 runs target was pretty chaseable but the batsmen messed it up. Four things they need to do from this point onwards:
1. Instead of Rana, give Sami/Yasir a chance.
2. Imran should not be given any more chance and one of top three needs to take place of Imran.
3. Use Azhar down in the lower order to fill Imran gap until Afridi ban is over.
4.Inzi better use his fast bowlers sensibly.

Without these corrective measures, Pakistan will have no chance

We need to focus on the next two games and make sure we put in professional performances against Ireland and Zimbabwe.

Well i would love to believe that this world cup 2007 will have any similarity with 1992 world cup but i am sorry to say with inzamam as the skipper it will not happen. In 1992 we had a top calibre skipper in imran khan and we had a settled opening pair in rameez raja and aamer sohail whereas in 2007 we have none !

So thanks for the positivity siddarth but i doubt pakistan will even last long in this world cup. We will be lucky to beat ireland and zimbabwe !

I am just disgusted with the opportunity missed where beating west indies today pakistan could have bagged bonus points. That is with all group wins pakistan would have taken 2 points forward to super eight but now with is out of question.

Unfortunately pakistan team has never been a consistent team of professionals since the departure of imran khan as a skipper.
