What's new

Will Imad Wasim be able to make a comeback to the Pakistan XI, now that he's regained full fitness?

Imad would have bullied these minnows, greatly missed in the Asia Cup, he's an epic definition of horses for courses kind of player.

Come on, he's a hack too

@MSRN back me up here please.

If a hack scale came from Not a hack to Nawaz, he'd be just below Nawaz

Really good bowler, usually chokes the opposition and we are missing someone like him on Odis as we saw in Asia cup. Don't rate his batting at all, but needs to work on his Fielding as it is almost sunday level

Pakistan really missed someone like Imad at the Asia Cup. Nawaz's performance no only proved that he isn't cut out for international cricket but also proved the integral and often thankless role Imad can play with the ball. Expecting him to return for the Australia T20is and New Zealand ODIs

He is a good player but under utilised.. He has good batting technique and shall be able to play long innings and should be given chance in both one dayers and test matches as proper batsman.. He is seriously good with bat than many batsman.. For me in onedayers he should bat at 4 and in test matches at 6

Continues to impress - proven wicket-taker for Pakistan

Looks like he's easily won back his place after those two performances especially the one today. Would probably get in the team even over Shadab now, though it's probably best if both play.

Won both matches bowling wise with his spell in the first 6 overs a good comeback.

Bowled well but his dropped catch nearly cost Pakistan the game.

Disappointing to see Imad unable to play big shots , or rotate strike

Imad is a solid bat but it’s not the first time we are seeing he’s not a shot maker and has a very limited power game batting at the death

Surely he should be batting up the order instead

He's a decent hitter, but problem is fitness. It takes a lot to play 70 balls and then go up into a higher gear.

Ideally he comes after 35 overs, not 22 like he did today.

I have said it time and again . . he is 10 times the batsman faheem ashraf is . . and if given the option, i will go with him any day over faheem! Faheem can't bat!

Id go as far to say he should be batting number 5 in current batting line up in ODIs, hes been wasted down the order. Clearly hes got enougb ability to be coming in before malik, keeper and shadab!

Yet Faheem and Shadab are the golden boys of this forum.

Whether people like it or not, Imad is the only genuine AR in the team and seemingly the country given how dire the aternatives are.

He outclasses Shadab and Faheem time and time again, but unfortunately, he is one of the antagonists who can do no wrong. He was dearly missed in the Asia Cup and has cemented his place for good now.

Totally agree and also I reckon he'd do better than Hafeez in earlier overs because he has a calm head who can play with a clear mind when he's under pressure unlike professor saab.

The lack of development from Shadab and Faheem since the CT, particularly the latter, also exposes the true quality of the so-called best T20 league after IPL.

Hope we stop going gaga over PSL performances.

He is the best all rounder we have. There is no one better than him right now in Pakistan. He looks an improved batsman.

Played five matches in England - remained unbeaten in them all
Played 3 matches in RSA - remained unbeaten

Man just doesn't get out in bilateral series away from home ....

:salute

Done reasonably well in this series - obviously not won anything for Pakistan yet but looks good for the World Cup

Average is now up to 50!!!! Best player on the team after Babar and Haris Sohail. Future captain of the team.

Ok spoke too soon! But a good innings under the circumstances.

Has really improved his batting since the last year. Contrast it with Faheem who has proven to be an absolute dud with the bat and mediocre with the ball.

He has proved himself as the best all-rounder in Pakistan. All the talk of dropping him should be laid to rest now.

It is time to send Shadab on his way and replace him with a specialist spinner.

Time to bring Imad into the Test side as well. He can be an able partner for Yasir in UAE/Asia and average 35 odd with the bat, providing great depth to the batting lineup.

Imad needs to improve his bowling and be able to turn the ball. His ineffectiveness with the ball is the main reason we have struggled to finish sides off from overs 15-40 and have allowed them to recover from 80/5 to 238/6 and 125/5 to 227/8.

Had we finished the opposition early our net run rate would have been better. But then again this probably has a lot to do with Sarfaraz inefficient captaincy as well

Imad needs to add the ability to actually SPIN the ball to his game.

His bowling and batting stats reflect a "Railu Katta" for sure.

Imad is not a frontline spinner, his job is to bowl 10 dry overs consistently. He has taken over the Hafeez role who wouldn’t have been so effective without Ajmal.

Having a mediocre option like Shadab as the main spinner has really hurt Imad’s bowling as well.

Well said, this is what 95% of posters on PP, don't understand. You need a defensive option in your spin attack unless you have 2 x quality spinners, which this team doesn't possess.

What did you think of Bilal Asif in the home test series last year? Reason I ask is because he's also a defensive type spinner, and I felt he performed his role rather well, in terms of keeping it tight and accumulating dot ball pressure.

He is okay, but Imad appears to be a much superior batsman.

Speaks to the sorry state of our allrounder depth that Imad is our best allrounder given his nonexistent wicket-taking threat.

However we must make use of what we have.

Need to discard bits and pieces Shadab whose batting is a joke. At least Imad contributes with his death overs hitting, so pair Imad up with a specialist spinner like Gohar or Asghar.
