Why should your opinion be given any worth when you are on record of having said that India cannot beat Pakistan and then they proceeded to beat us twice in two times with exceeding bigger margins.

Only due to Pakistan's cultist obsession is why amir is apparently the best bowler in the world and the next akram. Any sane Pakistani fan knows amir is not even the best left hand bowler in pakistan, let alone the world, he is no where near starc, anderson, rabada, cummins, boult, southee.
Amir has only bowled well in england, where the ball swings. Since his comeback, in tests everywhere he has been thrashed to say the least . Though he was reasonable in west indies( where pitches were seaming. Abbas, jason holder and shannon gabriel all outbowled amir in that series). Amir relies on swing and seam a lot.
With bowlers like junaid khan, mir hamza, sadaf hussain, it is a wonder why pcb still persists with amir. Even wahab riaz is a better test bowler than amir. Junaid Khan has taken wickets on flat UAE pitches, Sri Lankan pitches. He should be the first choice bowler in odis and test matches. Then this hero amir came along and ruined the chances for all these high quality bowlers, who are way more deserving than amir.
Amir does not deserve to tour south Africa, I can already imagine faf du plesis, dean elgar driving amir's deliveries like a car. if pcb has any sense in them they should pick junaid khan, mir hamza to south africa.

My opinion hasn't changed. It's more technical than anything but I don't know if he understands or can get the help necessary to correct the minor flaws which has turned him from 150k to a 140k bowler.

He probably needed to be dropped. If he is to want to play for the team, then he needs to be consistent. A great bowler on his day, but that needs to be more consistent.

It's not easy to make those adjustments either assuming he is aware of them, not sure if he can; we've seen bowlers in the past experience a set back and they're not always able to rediscover their technical prowess. Amir even when he has been bowling well isn't quiet the same, but I suppose he can still be effective in the scenarios [MENTION=132916]Junaids[/MENTION] pointed out and find a 5th gear when he is up for it.

I remember Trent Boult after injury (2 years ago I think) - he lost pace and many thought his career was finished because he became a harmless trundler, look at him now.

Having watched Amir bowl I have noticed how he tends to land a good deal heavier on his back foot than previously. This means he can get a bit 'stuck' in the crease, where before he had almost a light touch from his left foot. When he bowls well his heel doesn't really impact the ground. But recently he's been hitting this position hard. Often this can be caused by a slowing down of the run up, or hesitating in the jump into the crease - but the effect of it is to take ground speed away. As a semi-front on bowler, he is more likely to rely on that ground speed into his action before transferring it into the ball through sequencing.
Sequencing, or rhythm & timing is vital. The knock on effect of sequencing being disturbed is it can detract from two things: speed & consistency.

Yes. Kohli will win the toss and Pak will bat first. Bumrah will get Fakhar out but it will be a no ball. Fakhar then destroys Indian lineup and Babar, Hafeez and Malik help Pak score a formidable score. But Azhar Ali needs to play, score a 50 and then get run out though. He also needs to.drop Kohli so that Shadab will catch it later.
Amir apparently gave an interview recently indicating that the 5 years he missed cost him from being a 300 test wicket bowler by now. He said it takes 2 years to get to.prime bowling form after a lengthy break and he needs to have a lot of bowling under him before he can get into a rhythm. The busy scheduling hasn't enabled that and he is back into domestic cricket now and wished he played domestic for a little longer before coming back to international cricket

Amir gets too much attention to be honest. This thread is also meritted for the likes of Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali, Wahab Riaz, Imran Khan and co who go about their jobs with very little support and don't complain about the work load, tough pitches, having to bowl in the UAE.
No Amir would not have been a 300 test wicket bowler by now, he could very easily have had a career threatening injury given the volume of cricket that is being played these days. Or the fact that he is not as great a bowler as he is hyped to be would have caught up with him and he would have lost favor with the PCB.
Junaid and co work harder but Amir gets the attention because he has that X factor. The child prodigy who was supposed to be the successor of Wasim. The 5 year loss has put that to an end to an extent. However, I agree with some of the posters here. It is an alarming dip in form. Just that. He still has the ability. It is similar to Kohli in the previous England test series where he was Jimmy's bunny. And we all saw what champions are made of in the recent series. Amir is a champion. The next one year is a great test for him and being dropped will be the pivotal.moment of his career.

Junaid has dismissed Kohli three times in seaming conditions. Junaid has taken the bulk of his wickets in UAE and Subcontinent. If properly backed Junaid will prove to have more X factor than Amir. Amir's stats are nothing championship like to be honest.
Exactly. Junaid has performed with whatever little opportunities he received on pitches with no assistance for seamers and getting 5 -wicket hauls there. He deserves to be recalled to the test side. Who knows what he will do in south africa or england?

Lol Amir complains about workload and then seeks sympathy saying he missed out on 5 years of cricket and how he should have toiled in domestic cricket bowling countless overs. It just does not make sense. If his body, fitness and form cannot cope with the volume of cricket that is being played in these times, it is for certain he would have faded and been axed had the spot fixing ban not happened.

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC) head coach Atiq-uz-Zaman believes Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir should be withdrawn from international duty until the national’s team tour of South Africa early next year.
Amir’s hiring to the department’s cricket team was announced by Zaman last week, who said the fast-bowler needs time away from the hectic schedule of international cricket to regain his best form.
“There are a lot of reasons why Amir’s pace has relatively declined and he is not getting swing any longer,” Zaman told Dawn during a telephonic conversation on Tuesday.
“From his fatigue level to how he is unable to make the most of the crease, and how his wrist position is not suitable for swing bowling, many things have been pointed out by the people. But I believe, it’s his lack of confidence that has worn him down,” added Zaman.
Zaman attributed Amir’s lack of confidence to him not being able to perform up to the expectations for quite some time. “Amir is under performance-related stress. As a player, sometimes when things are not going your way, you start to believe that you are not going to perform at all. Unfortunately, Amir is currently at that stage,” he added further.
Responding to a question, Zaman said his team has a good pace-bowling attack that will give Amir the confidence he needs at the moment.
“Even if he does not pick up a wicket bowling alongside our bowlers, we will ensure that he enjoys his bowling. The stress and burden of expectations he carries while bowling in international cricket will not be here in the domestic competitions. It will be ideal for Amir to regain his lost confidence by playing the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy,” elaborated Zaman.
“I have talked to Mickey Arthur as well about Mohammad Amir and he is on the same page with us on his issue. We will keep him in the loop as regards to Amir’s performance in the ongoing domestic competition,” said Zaman.
“I have been communicating a lot with Amir for the last three to four days. Our goal is to help him get his rhythm back with the white ball. We will have a session with Amir where we will watch his videos of PSL and other games in which he did well. He will identify the issues himself,” said Zaman.
When asked whether fast-tracking Amir into the national side was a good move, Zaman said that he had opposed Amir’s comeback three years ago.
“When he was playing the qualifying round for us back in 2015, his fitness level was not up to the mark. He was getting tired earlier than the rest. I had suggested then to work on his fitness rather than fast-tracking him into the national team.
“When I had a chat with Amir two years ago in Manchester, he had said to me that he wanted to rest. But unfortunately, he couldn’t get any because Pakistan was struggling with its pace bowlers,” revealed Zaman.
“Now that Pakistan has found decent pace bowlers, Amir can be given a rest from the cricket played in Dubai and be asked to prepare himself for Pakistan’s tour to South Africa.”
He believes that, Kabir Khan, the bowling coach of SSGC, will also help Amir overcome his bowling issues.

No he won't , he was never destined to be great. More average than Irfan pathan. Irfan bowled 3 beautiful bowls to get hattrick in first over of test match, amir bowled one to Stephen Smith and Mitchell Johnson and people cry wasim wasim. I liked him too but he is not the same cricketer, sad to say.

Pakistani pacer Muhammad Aamir, who had retired from Test cricket last year and was dropped from white-ball squads, said he is looking to make a comeback to the national team ahead of the T20 World Cup with a good show at the PSL.

Most important component of Pakistan side for the world T20. Very canny and smart with his line, length, pace, angle. It is T20. He could go for runs. But in a tight do or die situation he definitely ups his game.
He could go for runs- but so can almost anybody with the new ball in t20. The good bowlers just don't cop it so often.
His big upside is that whilst yes, any pacer might get hit a few times, Amir with the white ball is also capable of taking 2-3 wickets in a burst & really ripping the heart out of a batting lineup. There is a real risk involved in taking him on.
I enjoy watching him bowl. Always have.

Amir is going to have an odd great outing here or there but I do not see a sustained improvement in his form.
He's got the talent that will grant him a good odd spell but his lack of passion and commitment to put in the hard yards will hold him back from truly achieving his potential.

really don't understand how amir with the skillset he possesses can't be better than Jimmy Anderson in tests. It's blasphemy. he really must be lazy or just unmotivated. Amir should be able to destroy teams with the new ball in test cricket. Such a shame.

Pakistan doesn't play more than half their tests in optimal seaming conditions. Although admittedly with Amir it's probably more to do with lack of motivation and physical fitness.

I heard he is very elastic however. He is super flexible. He can touch the floor with his forehead. Without knees bent. That's insane.

No, I didn't mean about PCB as such. Amir should've taken care of his fitness, not resort to the fixing and he wasted his own sports life. As for PCB, the monitoring should've been tighter after salim Malik issue....all in all loss for the game.

Its pretty bold to label a 20 year old pacer trash when he doesn’t even have much domestic experience. Guy crosses 150kph on occasions, I dont know other such 20 year old trash in any cricket playing nations at the moment. If I am missing some names kindly mention those.
Ofcourse he needs to work on his accuracy and if he doesn’t improve in next 4-5 years than he can be judged. Its too early to judge a 20 year old who definitely has shown signs of improvement.
How you know he is 32/33 and not 27 ?

He is a selfish cheat. After everything he put Pakistan through and all the backing and investment Pakistan did in him. Followed by poor form for over 2 years then the PCB still backed him and then he retires from test cricket.
He had a bad attitude, is a cheat, and is over hyped and hasn’t performed in a long time. I was a massive fan of his but we already have enough selfish cricketers in the team. I think the PCB should cut their losses and work with the new talent we have.

Dale Steyn at 35 still touches 145 kph on occasions. So pace isn’t exactly a proof of age theory. Amir didnt work hard enough on fitness considering the modern day requirements.

Injuries are serious problem for fast bowlers. Amir has chronic knee issues, that in last 2/3 years limited his career aspirations.
Styen has not played any consistent cricket in last 3/4 years, because of injuries. Once you get injured in 30s, for 140+ bowler, it’s not easy to survive, Styen is prime example of that.
Also, if you are 140+ bowler 32/33 is max age limit. If you get injured after 30, career is over. Unless you are mainly seamer and rely on skills like Jimmy, or McGrath or Wasim (after 1996/97)

Generally, as soon as fast bowlers hit their 30s their pace starts to drop. How much it drops depends on many variables including Fitness, action etc

Amir doesn't depend on his pace. He relies on his guile. Even when he bowls at 130k it is rare you see batsmen taking him apart. Thakur was clocking 136k sometimes 140k was being ripped to shreds. His wrist work on the ball is one of the reason why he is hard to hit around.

It's even worse when you consider he's just been dropped and he is supposed to be playing like he has a point to prove.
However - I haven't forgotten how good he was during the 50 over WC so i'm not writing him off yet. He is capable of bouncing back from a lean spell.
